Any Marvel players going to George R. Brown on Sunday to play some games before the convention is up?
Free casuals! Well… kinda free.
Anyways, I’m trying to make the most of my weekend pass so I wanna play alot. They close up at 5pm on Sunday so I’m gonna try to go around 12-1pm.

mint ruu beasted the whole shit, as stated above, they won GGAC as well.
t5dr was mainstreetryu/somebodysomebody over somebody/somebody/bronson
mainstreet ryu took out the first two dudes, then bronson beats him, loses to next guy.
dunno about marvel, sorry. I know the japanese didnt win.
last thing, the only games that big screen burn on the finals were 3s, dr, and ac.
big screen was in a convention hall with about 1000 people watching, anime fans(boy!). went something like this

so now they all think that japan is godlike, in games and in life, even more so.
the rest of the games had about 40 people watching the finals.

edit: every game had less than 32 entrants or so, at least all the 2d games, as far as Im told.
oh one last thing, they tried to get casual going after the tourney, but apparently one person was drinking and the cops shut the whole event down. from I understand, it was an event with lots of potential but basically no respect or interest for the american gamers, which is what had already been surmised in the past.

Lawl at Texas showdown being smaller than a local tournament.
Every1 who went will be there in the morning kakarotte not for sure after. Creecy and Brad wanted to get in some casuals so prob so but u never know.

even with super-low turnouts, the prize pools were still like $1950(3-man)/$1300(2-man)
i am very confounded by all of this
damn it campbell got 3rd again?..
actually the prizes for 1st were $350 per person flat across the board. the venue fee, expensive hotel, and food would have been significantly more than that. which is why very few non-locals attended this event, and the main reason i didn’t go for ST. plus when you factor in that it was pretty much anti-gamer event and mostly just a pro-japan fanboy event, there was really no reason to bother. this tournament was buried back in February and the results were already predicted. i hope emotiongear lost several thousand dollars of his own money on this event. we don’t need any more closed-minded idiots trying to tell us what’s best for our community.

I never considered this officially texas showdown. This was an anime convention with a tournament added. I mean from a business stand point i understand having to charge what they did. John basically paid for everything even the japanese attendance and hotels. That is some serious bread.

that was a hypeless event i believe it woulda been way better with planning and the lameness that it was in a damn anime festival convention made it worse for the people that came late lol scrubbish 2 hour wait for like anyone that was dumb enough at the end of the lines anywho those sticks werent very nice either.

Bas took cvs2, tokido was winning then Bas’s Blanka tore up havoc, it came down to Vega vs Vega with both 25% health, but Bas got the A meter so he wins.
Marvel was the least interested game so we just did GF when the two teams were there. I think its because it wasnt “anime” enough for it to be ran on the big screen. One team game. Joey lost to PowerDN, I came in beat Power and Carnevil, lost to creecy. Creecy vs Gene was harsh cause gene missed a really good snapback but it didnt come out. Creecy eventually won with all 3 characters with descent health.

Didnt happened, false advertisement, all of the out of towners were asked for their name and address to be mailed their checks. I think it applies to the Japs as well.
PS nuki is a monster.

Nice to hear there was a competitive group of players, even if there was like 10 of y’all for each game 
Oh well. Hopefully Texas will be able to host a real major again some day.

Is there a results page for this somewhere or can someone make a post of all the placers in one post? Is there a rough estimate on attendence, from what Im reading it wasnt that high but im curious as to what it was (tournament wise)?
Also what is this drunk guy insident I was reading about?
