Show us your Project Boxes!

Kyle, I have to get off my ass and hack one of my saturn controllers to that.

Frakkintoaster, nice idea.

Love your use of the genesis boxes but gotta agree why ecco.

I have 4 project boxes myself and working on a 5th (xbox360). These go with the gutted agetec with light up mod and my tv table top (also in pic) :stuck_out_tongue:

Three are shown here: mccthulhu (ps3/pc), ps2 (old madcatz), dc (from agetec). Used a DB15, should’ve used db25.

The one not shown is a mcthulhu all in one test rig (ps3,pc,ps2,ps1,xbox,gc) with the nuby SCII cord hack.

I had an empty box for it. I just checked Ebay; a complete copy can be had for $5.

Work log

I feel sad seeing violated Genesis boxes, very original though.

I like project boxes because it gives you the single controller on multiple consoles advantage.

That box is awesome thin. Where was it purchased? Is that a digital pad or dual shock inside? Is that a db9 for the connector? /end barrage of questions

Those Sega Genesis boxes were awesome.

I got it at Lee’s electronics in Vancouver. It’s a Dualshock A series solderless hack. It uses a vga cable, so the connector is HD15. Going to switch to a DB15 connector though so I can hook up to the supergun without much trouble.

I’ve got a DualShock A series I’ve been trying to hack for a while; what gauge wire did you use for the solderless hack?

26 solid I think.

I got in my db15 m:f cables tonight and revamped everything to make it swappable. I also spent some time and hacked up a Nes controller. Nes-PS2-Modded Xbox = Fun! I played some Street Fighter with the Nes pad and was surprised how solid the dpad was.

Hmm… I would definitely make a project box from altoid tin cans…

Good idea. I’m gonna add a db15 cable to my stick this weekend and stop messing with dual PCBs. This seems like a much better/futureproof solution.

My project boxes

Madcatz 4716 (360), DB-15, VHS box + 20mm button for Guide

Cthulhu, DB-15, Sistema 200ml box + 20mm button for Home

Here is mine:

I used a xbox 360 guitar hero 3 wireless guitar pcb with an external battery.

Wow, these are some really slick project boxes you guys have here. That settles this, I’m converting to project boxing RIGHT NOW. Boo-yah!

Also, rtdzign, how well does that lone DB-25 connector hold those boxes in place? Do you feel that there’s any strain on the pins, or that the boxes are too heavy for that connector?

hey man any missign button functions?

shoulder buttons?

how many keys in total and there native xbox press’s?

as if this owrks i think i will mod a guitar hero pcb?

Here is the project box I made for my Ipac4. Only two players are wired up at the moment. The “Ryu at the Laundromat” art made me laugh so I stuck it on there.

can someone make a tutorial on project boxes? Do the pcb’s need to all have common ground to keep the button wireing consistant?
