Match of the year should be the single most entertaining match, period. Whether it be because of a clutch omgwtf moment that made you jump out of your seat and scare your roomates, two skilled players using their full potential for a close, important match, sheer hilarity, whatever. Thereā€™s no reason to exclude certain matches just because it wasnā€™t the two best of the best players, or because mistakes were made in the match, or because they were best of 7 rounds. It seems like youā€™re reaching for a definition of ā€˜match of the yearā€™ and nomination rules that donā€™t exist to suit your own personal opinions.

Why? There are lots of other non-Americans on this site who are just as obsessed with fighters as anyone else (hell, Iā€™m a Canadian living in America), and since this is the internet, I donā€™t see why this should be limited to only US, especially when the OP didnā€™t state that. If I thought the best match I saw this year came from freakin Malta I wouldā€™ve nominated that, but I saw Makoto vs Ojisan/Tokido and to me those were the best matches Iā€™ve seen all year.

But remember, only matches nominated on the SRK.com frontpage blog post will be counted by the committee choosing the finalists, and its only a single match, not a whole set. Those of you nominating a youtube video with many matches in it need to specify which game in that video you are nominating.

This match Showcased The best 2 players in the world at the time , with IYO winning the japanese finals and Daigo being Daigo. showed A LOT about the games mechanics, tricks, amazing combos and overall flexibility of the game this should DEFINITELY Be one of the finalist as it is both epic and ground breaking.

I nominate Daigo Vs. Iyo at the gamestop national finals. There were just so many amazing moments in that fight. Honorable mention has to go the final round between Ken I and Combofiend at SBO quals. The comeback was insane.
