This. The Makoto v Ojisanboy one in particular.
Also, the match where either yeb or Jibbo (one of the well-known Gens) v Daigo. Excellent play by both with it coming down to the wire at the end.
Yes. I remember this. Too good. Such a great comeback.
Obviously not. Comedy match:

Onlinetony vs Ironfist
Match of the year should be the single most entertaining match, period. Whether it be because of a clutch omgwtf moment that made you jump out of your seat and scare your roomates, two skilled players using their full potential for a close, important match, sheer hilarity, whatever. Thereās no reason to exclude certain matches just because it wasnāt the two best of the best players, or because mistakes were made in the match, or because they were best of 7 rounds. It seems like youāre reaching for a definition of āmatch of the yearā and nomination rules that donāt exist to suit your own personal opinions.
WOW those are some good matches.
Whoās doing the commentary? and why does āThis shit is getting so hype right nowā with a Japanese accent make me laugh so hard?

Why? There are lots of other non-Americans on this site who are just as obsessed with fighters as anyone else (hell, Iām a Canadian living in America), and since this is the internet, I donāt see why this should be limited to only US, especially when the OP didnāt state that. If I thought the best match I saw this year came from freakin Malta I wouldāve nominated that, but I saw Makoto vs Ojisan/Tokido and to me those were the best matches Iāve seen all year.

This is a worldwide event. But remember, only matches nominated on the SRK.com frontpage blog post will be counted by the committee choosing the finalists, and its only a single match, not a whole set. Those of you nominating a youtube video with many matches in it need to specify which game in that video you are nominating.

just re posting , I really think everyone should watch this match and should be HIGHLY considered for the reasons stated.
Justin Wong vs. Jan from Showdown.
Jan plays extremely patient and out turtles Justin and wins not 1 but 2 rounds by timeout.

Match starts @ 3:12
I loved that. Itās incredibly boring, but thatās probably the smartest playing I have ever seen. I noticed Justin had some sweet moves too.
i nominate this match crazy sakura mixups.
I nominate Daigo Vs. Iyo at the gamestop national finals. There were just so many amazing moments in that fight. Honorable mention has to go the final round between Ken I and Combofiend at SBO quals. The comeback was insane.
