Fouts seems to think Vega getting cornered against Sagat is to Vega’s advantage… lol… priceless. 7:3 Vega in Super? This guy’s out of his mind… or playing nothing but complete fucking scrub Sagats. Mindblowing.

Why are the tags for this thread “splendid anus” and “my dick hurts*”(it’s written wrong in the tags)

I wish I could rep whomever put up splendid anus.

hahahaha most tags are really weird xD look at Ken’s tag xD

Fricken Rofl I never noticed that before XD

did you guys know about the unblockable Ultra Ken has?

thats just bull, and most likely the developers dont know squat about it.

Ryu most likely has it to. It doesnt matter what we get now once they have ultra and drop you. GG.

And with Akuma’s new Ultra, maybe he can do the same.

I am so unbelievably skeptical to this. If it’s so big, why has it only just been picked up now?
Moreover, I don’t see how fireballs can still hit you if you’re blocking on wakeup >_<"

I personally wouldn’t worry, it apparently requires so much precision you’d be lucky to do it in an actual fight.

I just did it. Its more sitiational than anything. and like emblem lord said, it took 2 years to find out. its So fucking godly.

Wait wasn’t Sagat’s version blockable if you started blocking during the ultra flash?

Yeah, I just saw that unblockable ultra vid too - Sagat’s looks pretty simple as far as timing, but yeah, I don’t see this being too popular (I hope)

Anyways, I’d just like to say that Sasaki has given us plenty of great info and has proven himself to be extremely insightful and intelligent when it comes to Vega.

And Fout, I think I understand why you believe it might be a 7:3 after watching your youtube video against a Sagat player online.

I surely hope these aren’t the kinds of Sagats you typically play. If so, then your conclusion makes PERFECT SENSE.

I agree with Sasaki only because I play against solid Sagat’s here in Japan every week. They shut down every option you have. You know all those scrub Sagat’s online? Imagine playing one that wasn’t a scrub, but was a pro.

Oh it will. Because the set up is so easy. I know im going to do it. Not only that but one frame window it can become easy to do. It looks like one of those things magneto did in MvsC2. Smash your character out of screen forcing someone else in, and then wham down fierce till you die.

Well, I’m excited that Splendid Claw has I-frames on startup.

Maybe it will stop the constant balls to the wall rushdown you experience against good players who understand the vega matchup. Of course, I’m sure it will still be safe-jumpable, but I’ll take what I can get.

Where was it confirmed that U2 has I-frames? Not that I’m calling you a liar or anything but I’m just wondering since I’ve never heard any solid confirmation on it.

@ 3:17

Does this count?

Sagat’s unblockable setup is easy. I was able to replicate it with near 90% accuracy.

there was a vid of someone doing splendid claw and a dictator player doing psycho crusher - both passed each other easily.

That was the ones that Inverse posted I think, they did PC a good 2 or 3 times across the screen Vs.Splendid Claw and they just passed through, meaning there’s a chance it might pass under them.

Yea I thought that video just demonstrated that Splendid Claw allows Vega to pass under projectiles. Not necessarily that it had I-frames.

I faced this Sagat 3 times in a row in the finals. He had no idea about the matchup so by this point I was toying with him (notice me spamming backflips). This is not my ideal version of a “good Sagat”, so please don’t assume that it is.

When did I say getting cornered is a good thing? I simply stated that Sagat advancing on me only helps me get closer to him. Get your head out of your ass.

@ Sasaki - Why do you get hit by random St.Mk from Sagat? While its true that it has priority over all of Vega’s pokes, that doesn’t mean it can’t be baited or punished. But I’m done with this argument, we both obviously have different opinions and I respect yours. I only ask that you rerspect mine aswell.

No need to really speculate the matchup in Super, we’ll know soon enough.

I wasn’t talking about random st.mk’s, mind you. Just saying that Sagat may not have the walkspeed it takes to be good at footsies, but because of a few of his good normals he isn’t completely hopeless. EL has written a nice article about this and although SSFIV Sagat got nerfed in the st.lk department, I remember someone telling me the first hit of it is still cancellable (with less range apparently), so most of his stuff still applies.

Of course I do respect yours as well but I still think it’s a bit too optimistic. Oh well. We’ll see soon enough. Of course I’d be happy if your speculation was right. In general, I’m sure that Vega can hold his own against the top a lot better now, possibly making him a whole lot more tourney viable.
