I think you misunderstand the concept of a handshake… That’s where the problem lies here. You’re saying “Yeah I’ll shake your hand after working my ass off on the basketball court but street fighters a game”, okay, great. What about when you go for a job interview? Handshaking is merely a gesture of acknowledgement I guess more than anything. Manners I suppose. You do it to be polite.
I don’t even understand why you wouldn’t shake hands. It’s such a minor and mild form of respect, and therefore, what’s the harm in doing it? Too cool to shake? Bullshit. I don’t know what your parents taught you, but show some respect. If you don’t want to shake hands, just say good game. I don’t care if you don’t mean it.
fuck that. if some guy interviewing me for a job wants to shake my hand, ill tell him to kiss my ass. shake your own damn hand, im not gonna do you for you. you want me to give you a reach around too? this aint a porno set or an alley behind a bar. this aint like a sport, if you want a handshake you better shoot some crumple up paper free throws into the waste basket, then ill think about it. if you wanna hire me, you better just be ready to hire it up and keep it movin, i dont have time for fuckin hand shakes. do you know how much time we waste in a lifetime shaking hands? like a months worth. all because of horseshit like ‘social etiquette’ and ‘courtesy’. i dont abide by the laws of the man, man, i play by my own rules, dance to the beat of my own drum, fuck that, im not dancin, you cant make me dance, im not giving into the man, i dont put up with that bullshit. when i finish a match, i yank my stick out so hard the console flies off the table and onto the ground, fuck it, it aint mine anyway. not trying to be a jerk but thats just how i do things.
shit, you so hard nigga
I’ve got nothing against handshakes but the 3rd option seems most suitable for me to vote for since I’m not in a paticular hurry to do it either if the other guy doesn’t want to.
That said, manners cost nothing, if someone wants to shake your hand there is no reason not to, it’s just the polite thing to do, is a couple of seconds of your life really that important to you?
+1 this is an issue?
It’s just what Americans do. It’s like saying “hey man, good shit.” I’m not gonna get offended if some dude doesn’t want to shake, but FUCK NO I AIN’T-AH SHAKIN’ NAH HANDS BRO is a little. . . weird.
lmfao
holy fuck
If someone is being loud, rude, generally abrasive I won’t shake their hand. You can’t be a belligerent oaf one minute and then a gentleman the next. That’s like me laying my jacket down in some mud for a girl to walk across and then I tell her if she wasn’t overweight she could have hopped across it.
There have only been 2 out of maybe 100 in which I haven’t shaken hands after a tourney match. One being a very obnoxious player that started yelling at me during the match using expletives. I won’t say his name but alot of people know him for this on the forums. Another being a player that complained during the match. They didn’t want to shake hands anyway.
Sorry in advance for quoting not one but two walls of text…
I think this guy has the right idea here. As a “pro,” win or lose, I will attempt to make some gesture of respect to my opponent, win or lose, I’ll put an arm out there as soon as “KO” hits the screen for the last time. It’s just how I was raised. I’m not on some silly shit like “slide hand xx fistbump,” or my personal favorite, hand grab xx bro hug, but the man you’ve just been at war with deserves at the very least a handshake. It’s no different than sport, you play ball at a competitive level, that shit’s serious to you, therefore you feel inclined to shake hands with your opponents, hell, I do after every pickup game of football I’ve ever played, but for many of us here at SRK, fighting games are just as big a deal to us.
:wow: Had to quote it, just to be sure it really happened :wow:
Yea…this is pretty much what I do. Doing some halfassed handshake bc you feel you have to is pointless.
I also dont want to touch you niggas post jerk session to hentai hands anyway. Sorry.
If a man’s had time to jerk off during your match you are doing something wrong.
The way I see it in a tourney setting:
All the time spent training and thinking, the money poured into this whole thing (entry fee, previous tourneys, gas money), all the other things I could be doing like not ditching my girlfriend or getting some work done, all the hype and expectation built up within yourself, only to come short and get knocked out of tourney? Fuck that. I’d be pretty fucking pissed off and I won’t offer a hand. It hurts too much to lose, but if an opponent gives his hand out, of course I’ll shake it.
On the other end, if I kick your ass, then you shouldn’t want to shake my hand. If you don’t love the game to the point where it hurts to lose then you shouldn’t be competing.
As for casuals, it’s all shit and giggles
I’ll shake hands with you after a loss as long as you’re not a dickhead. I’ve played a lot of guys that thought they were the shit for beating an average player like myself.
The people who don’t shake hands “or perform other forms of respect” are usually the people who think they are hot shit but aren’t.
It’s about etiquette, courtesy and respect.
I always shake my opponents hand win or loss, I don’t give a fuccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk.
Well I’m not a dick. And I show respect for the other person I just beat or lost to. So I ALWAYS shake hands after a match. Not usually on casuals but always on tournament matches. Its about respect. If you don’t shake hands I’m not going to flip a shit over it. But if I put my hand out, you see that I put it out, and you ignore it. Then you’re a fucking douchebag.
More like
I always shake hands because it shows respect and reminds my pissed opponent that it’s just a game/a sport.
I stinkpalm all my opponents.
I was going to reply to this with a serious remark until i saw your sig, you are in fact just a tool.
