Not too long ago I found out that there was a Shadowrun Returns kickstarter. They say it is going to be more of a X-com style of RPG game kind of like the SNES version.

I’m pretty hype that they are going to develop this game, they already got the $400k that they wanted. But for now they are at $1.25 million. If they get to $1.5 million, they are going to add missions that tie into the SNES and Genesis games somehow.

So if you where a fan of the game and want to take a gamble on Harebrained studios check out the Kickstarter page. I was a big fan of the SNES game and would like to see it get to that 1.5 million mark and there is 9 days left to go.

Damn i was hoping this would be a videogame version of the card game of Shadowrun. I wish I could code that onto Steam like MTG card game.

I actually backed this. Never actually played any of the shadow run games, but I always likes the shadowpunk concept, so I wanted to give it a try

Shadowrun on SNES was all about mood. The weird people/creatures, the music, and the environment plus a fun game to boot.

Comes highly recommended from this guy. I’ve beaten it several times.

Even the speed run is worth watching:

I am heartbroken this won’t be a proper sequel to Shadowrun on the 360. Seriously, probably one of the best, and most under rated, FPS titles this gen.

I thought I was the only one who loved that game.

Such ridiculous depth for an fps and so many cool strategies.

I thought the Shadowrun FPS was an excellent team based shooter. It did a lot of unique things that required teamwork. The problem is that Shadowrun from it’s very roots is an RPG. It would be like if we took Street Fighter and and made it a Mario Party like game. They also took a lot of liberties with the license and left out the Decker/Cyberspace aspects out of the FPS.

I’m biased but at this point SF might as well start making party games.

I know. I remember how fucking well they did teleporting, and then Bioshock had to drop teleporting cuz they couldn’t get it to work right. Or cuz you could teleport to the end of the game lol or some shit.

That game would have done AMAZING if it was released as an XBL title rather than an actual disc game. Especially given the timeframe it came out in. VERY few people still play that game still. Met a few people there waaaaaay back in the day, I still talk to to this day. We still pop on occasionally to rape the ever loving shit out of people in that game.

I would seriously put that game QUITE high on my top ten for this gen. Probably my 3rd favourite FPS, behind only Doom and Halo.

Yeah the game was cool as fuck, just no Single Player content was whack as shit given the series it was based off of.

I loved the shooter version of Shadowrun, though I had such a terrible time with it…competition in that game was rough to say the least. I’m guessing the sales number on that was most likely way short of expectations… the community was always small, I don’t remember any kind of advertising for it, and many folks immediately hated the fact that it wasn’t like the old game.

Game was so good and so underrated. It has a steep learning curve though so you were going to get bodied until you learned how to play. Bunch of noobs trying to run around with Stealth Elves trying to stab people.

I loved the Shadowrun FPS, played it so much when it came out despite all it’s flaws. Suffered in a lot of the same ways some old KoF console ports did, you can’t just make a good competitive game and let that stand on it’s own merits without taking heat. You need content for the casuals too. Not to mention the front end and lobby systems were not up to speed.

The game itself was amazing, the total package was lacking. I might have to pop it in again sometime and try to get in a game.

Shadowrun FPS was amazing as shit.
Needs a sequel asap.

Probably won’t ever happen. Team is disbanded afaik.
