I guess if you like generic rip off music then Guilty Gear had a good soundtrack. Rock really doesn’t get more standard than the vast majority of that soundtrack. The only songs with a hint of any sort of inspiration or basic form being Vortex Infinitum and Quicksilver.

I blast the oldschool Power Rangers battle themes and some Crush 40 while playing fighting games and I’ll be damned if some loco from an online forum tells me that’s wrong.

Cross ref. Power Rangers and any of these titles:

"5-4-1"
“Fight”
“Combat”
“We Need A Hero”
“I Will Win”
“Cross My Line”
“Fight Back”

Those tunes add a lot to 2D fighting games’ colorful presentation, the ‘power pop’* style lyrics also rev you up for a fight. The simplistic rhythm, tempo, and vocals do not distract from the gameplay either (a key trait I look for when compiling custom soundtracks for certain games). *Power Pop is a term coined by 80’s musician Stan Bush when questioned on what kind of music he actually does. I found his description (positively inspirational lyrics, simple rock anthem styles, etc) fit many tunes from the 80’s and are found in those listed PR tunes… and Crush 40, who mainly does music for modern Sonic games. So on that note:

Stan Bush:
“Never Surrender”
“Fight to Survive”

Crush 40:
“Live and Learn”
“What I’m Made Of”

These tracks mesh well with the PR tunes, and you are basically looking at my 2D fighter ‘power pop’ playlist. My playlist for 3D fighters is very different, but that’s another tale. I’ll be rocking these to SfxTK for damn sure. Feel free to see if they mesh with your experience.

I can’t stand guest characters. Especially console exclusive ones since they can’t be used in tournaments and are effectively a waste of time to the fighting game community at large.

They shouldn’t be wasting R&D time on Cole and the like. With that time they could have added another NORMAL SF or TK character that people have been clamoring for the past few years.

If Cole is the reason I don’t get to see Alex, Elena, Karin, Hugo or Poison… someone will have to pay.

Somebody already is - Sony.

Without Sony paying for Cole, then we wouldn’t have a character at all. He’s not replacing anybody since the money for that slot wasn’t there in the first place until Sony came in and paid for it.
