Nothing a Unlock DLC wouldn’t fix.

Hilarious. Please give me good, concrete reasons why allowing gems to change move properties such as range and timing would be absolutely 100% terrible without even a chance of being good.

Perhaps. But how expensive would it be?

I shouldn’t have to explain why.

Let’s assume that they’re balancing the roster based on their individual default properties. You change one thing and the balance is off.

Then you’re not being convincing.

Fair enough, but since it’s a team based game anyways, there’s only so much a change to one character can do.

And the balance isn’t going to be perfect. Gems can give us a way to balance the game without waiting for an update a year later. They sound neat to me.

People need to stop shitting on idea’s before they fully understand them.

Well one thing’s for sure, if the fanbase sees the gems as a bad idea, the SFxT team will definitely know. They seem to be listening to and encouraging fan feedback. I mean, once they heard the general comtempt for the lifebars, they changed them immediately.

And I know the color of the lifebars is a lot different from an entire game mechanic, but I think that Capcom won’t hesitate to change things up if there’s overwhelming dislike for the gems. At the very least, I’d expect them to give us the option to fight without the gems. I wouldn’t worry too much.

does the gem system just mean extra depth to the game kind of like hyper street fighter 2 you stupid idiots?

Considering the usual “Unlock Stuff” DLC trend, I’d say around a dollar. Share that between PS3s and you’re good to go.

I don’t have to convince you of anything. It’s your right to be dumb, and it’s my right to laugh about it.

Hyper Street Fighter 2 didn’t have 40 characters that can be paired together in any way with each team of 2 characters getting 6 gems total, 3 gems each out of potentially hundreds of different configuration options for every slot.

And it’s my privilege to laugh at your pathetic attempts at rhetoric. If you have a position you can’t even explain, you might as well not have a position at all.

It all depends on how it is used. In Soul Calibur were also have different types of weapons that increase damage or whatever, but we can easily play without these additives. I hope that there will be the same.

“Can’t” is not interchangeable for “not assed”.

Stop embarrassing yourself dude.

Since I have no evidence of you being able to, there’s no reason I should assume that you are able to. And honestly, if you can’t even be bothered to explain your own position, why should you be listened to?

My only worry is that the gems may create a gap in what’s played in tournaments and what’s played on ranked matches (the main online mode of the game, if gems are even allowed at ranked).

Gem unlock DLC may help a bit in tournaments, but if the gem equip interface is bad (say you have to quit to the main menu every time you want to re-equip) people won’t even bother.

I just hope you’re being a massive baby about it’s implementation, if ono doesnt handle this well and the special mode in soul calibur isnt handled well then I think 2012 will be my last year of playing fighting games. because it’s stagnant beyond belief

I will hope for a hand held VF5fs and thats the only fighter I will touch for the rest of my life

I just hope it’s like this: Gems can be enabled/disabled in all online and offline modes. No harm in that right? If the majority of the community grows to hate the gems and there’s no option to toggle them on/off when online, then I won’t even know what to say.

You can always take a leaf from Smash players and curse Ono’s name every time shit goes down.

Reminds me of Isms/Grooves like a lot of people have said. Depends on what they modify/customize mostly.

I’m fine with gems so long as they don’t touch frame data or hitboxes. Things like weighing up the options between having extra health, meter gain, extra damage on certain moves, longer lasting cross assaults, free EX moves after using a special move a certain number of times etc. are fine with me.
