Again, we have crack pairings in this game. Unless someone can find some convoluted reference to something that would explain Rufus and Zangief like Team Full House, everyone is fair game, canon pairings or not.

I think this was explained well enough a few pages ago by someone else… they’ve teamed up characters that make sense like Ryu and Ken and for characters they don’t have a logical team mate they’ve paired them up with someone else. It doesn’t have to make sense, they can explain it in the actual game itself but if a logical partnership exists they will pair them. Why does it have to make sense? You look @ the Tekken Tag 2 intro and you see Heihachi getting saved by Alissa and JayCee aka Julia teaming up with Armor King 2.

Yes there is weird pairings in this game but they can explain it during the game, also it’s silly to use these weird pairings to hope for some niche characters to get in. They’re not going to waste 1 of their 20-23 SF slots on someone like Mika to randomly team her up with someone. Zangief who is a iconic character and needs to be in the same game as Kuma? Yes of course, but Mika hell no.

OK since it’s dead, I’ll admit I really wanted that wish list to be from some guy who could see the future. Gotta admit that was a nice roster. But that’s why they call it a wish list. Glad the debate’s over.

I think Rufus is a pretty lame partner for Gief and it makes me wonder who the other non-SF4 characters on the SF side we’ll get. I geeked out for what appeared to be a Law teaser at the end.

Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. Pairings don’t need to make prior sense. We could very well have Elena X Sodom and that would be explained in the game, even though they’ve never interacted with each other in past games.

Even though it might seem that way, I sure hope Rufus isn’t Zangief’s partner. They have absolutely nothing in common except that they’re both big, and they didn’t act like they were partners in the trailer in the slightest, so maybe they simply wanted to show that Rufus will be in the game.

True, but they won’t waste these random team up slots on niche characters. Ibuki’s a fairly popular character and Rolento has been heavily requested, Zangief is an iconic SF2 character and Rufus was one of the most popular new SFIV characters. Bob was heavily used in Tekken 6 and Julia seems a bit of a fan fav who has been given a new lease of life in TTT2. They won’t waste them on random minor characters, they’ll use these random or to be explained teams for major characters they want in the game without a logical pairing.

Mika doesn’t fit that bill.

Why not? If you want diversity, you gotta include these niche characters, both from an appeal and a design perspective. Otherwise, you might as well make a roster consisting of only the most popular playstyles which isn’t exactly the most appealing thing to think about.

No she hasn’t been but I can’t see Capcom leaving out the character who was their most popular female SF character in Japan during the Alpha series. She’s still very popular even to this day… This isn’t Marvel, Capcom actually have expectations for this game in Japan… wonder if they’ll announce an simultaneous arcade release for this @ SBO.

So was Sakura confirmed somewhere? A lot of people seem to think she and Karin will be in this game, but to be honest, I think Chun and Cammy will be the rivals of Lili and Asuka, there’ll be no need for Sakura/Karin.

Though don’t get me wrong, i would LOVE to see that.
