SFxT General Discussion Thread rev.B

I just wanted to point out that this isn’t true. The two characters you are referring to (Squigly and Umbrella) were confirmed by Mike Z to have NEVER been in the initial launch cast. Reverge Labs constantly said “around 8 characters at launch” but never named names. The reason everyone thinks that Squigly and Umbrella were supposed to be in is because of a supposed “roster” picture that showed them. This wasn’t official but of course people assumed it was, so the common conception became that they were in. Mike Z has recently said several times that the initial roster they had planned the game is intact and that not one has been “pushed back” to DLC.

Other than that I mostly agree. If a big company does something people complain. If a small company does the same thing then it’s usually ignored.

Oh, the good old days of 2011.

And, generally speaking, stuff that comes out as DLC would never have been an unlockable before. It would have been half-finished junk just sitting on the cartridge. This can even be true of stuff that comes on the disc, as weird and shady as all that business is.

So in other words Capcom can’t do it because they’re successful? What sort of backwards ass logic is this.

There has been 1 Tekken game released since SFIV came out which was considered late and quickly went to the bargin bins and only pushed 3.5 million copies because Namco flooded distribution channels. The latest Idolmaster and Tales games where they have really pushed the DLC envelope have also came out after Tekken 6 and they’ve already talked about Soul Calibur V DLC in regards to prior games music themes, you know something that 3S:OE copped shit over yet again has been ignored. There’s also been talk of a DLC character slot and all that but hey man, Namco won’t do that because you just told me so right!

You can walk around with you head looking up in the sky and not see what’s coming for all I care, just don’t act surprised when Namco flaunt the shit out of SCV and than TTT2 when it comes to DLC. And really if it has the content of MK9 is that really a bad thing? Of course people ignore that SFxTK will have a similar amount of content and act like this is as barebones as vanilla MVC3.

Yes because the music game division is also the same as the jrpg division. You’re blind if you can’t see that trend that is happening to Namco Bandai games… For fucks sake look @ what they’re doing with Ridge Racer Vita… This moronic “they’ve never done this for Tekken before” response I’m getting could’ve been said of Ridge Racer as well and that’s the fucking worse DLC Namco have done ever.

Get a clue and open your eyes.

Uh… Neogaf is a prime example of Capcom hate, look @ the 3rd Strike Colors thread for a prime example. You had posters being told that Blazblue and Arcana Heart were doing the same thing and it was filled with Capcom hate.

Oh a bit bitter are we?

Which I didn’t even use? I can give you example of things that were shared around Bamco like the guys behind the Tekken games getting a recent Hybrid bundle. Which Macross Frontier got and .Hack is soon to get.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean all Namco games are soon to get a Hybrid bundle. That is practically the gist of what I just said. Chillax there. Oh and yeah If pay-for-customise your character did happen in Tekken you would find complaints in a Tekken site or a Tekken thread on Neogaf. DLC costumes characters are already in Tekken 6 with that Yoshimitsu tube Samurai costume.

Spoiler

The costume is free to download what a suprise!

Well they aren’t rallying to abolish all rip off DLCs, just the ones for games we care about. You went into a 3rd Strike (a Capcom game) DLC colors thread and found Capcom hate and you were suprised they weren’t complaining about DLC in other games? So why are you suprised If there are more complaints directed at SFxT on majorly Capcom site?

Its all simple really and you don’t need to play PR for Capcom too. And by some offshoot chance Capcom did listen to complaints of DLC gauging and ramified it (Free Heralds and Heroes mode, balance update for AE) then isn’t that better for you as a consumer? Nobody wants to play a game of “who is the bigger victim here”.

The hybrid example is dumb considering you have to have a movie to sell with the game (and the Macross Frontier one was like a glorified demo in the first place, I think the first movie was 5 levels of 5 minutes each…) and obviously you’re not going to have a movie for every Bandai Namco game. The facts are that Namco Bandai are trending towards heavy DLC in all their games and people who think that SCV, TTT2 and TKxSF aren’t going to be hit but this are words that would get me an infraction. You can’t keep pointing to Tekken 6, that was 2009, TTT2 will be out nearly 3 years after. The last Ridge Racer game wasn’t as much DLC bullshit as the Vita one will be so why will Tekken be any different? They can still offer a healthy amount of options for free but if more is offered as DLC they’re still ripping you off compared to T6. But it;s cool, its not Capcom.

Also the fact that a stink was caused by only Capcom’s game having DLC colors while Blazblue and AH was ignored is enough to speak of the situation. A bad business practice is a bad practice no matter what, not only because you’re the biggest fish in the pond.

Well a big fish would be a great place to start no?

And yeah I guess that Hybrid example wasn’t the best but you can easily get what I’m saying. They had there chance with Tekken 6 mang. They had their chance but they didn’t and I got a game I really wanted out of it without the cut out.

And hey its not like I’ve never called Namco “Scamco” before, but If they treat the Tekken series nicely I’ll have no issues. It wouldn’t be bad If the Capcom guys got some of this to rub down on them either.

I’ll just say Tekken 6 console was a big enough disaster as it was, it’s lucky it didn’t have any DLC bullshit attached to it. Hopefully Tekken Tag Tournament 2 doesn’t end up in bargin bins the first month like Tekken 6 did. Also you’re pretty optimistic if you think they won’t get hit… I think whatever SCV gets x2 is what TTT2 will get and when we get TKxSF in 2014… lol.

Speaking of TKxSF they should just move on to the next gen systems, the current ones can’t even do Tekken 6 let alone the upgraded TTT2 as shown by Prologue comparisons.

Goddammit man, now you make me feel stupid for buying T6 first day :frowning:

(Though having it two days before an impromptu tournament did score me a 4 gig thumb drive that now holds all of my reports and theses and crap  )

Prologue was a demo, judging the full game based on a demo is rather silly and/or my not be suggestive of the final product.
I think TTT2 will end up looking fine on PS3 if they’re still gonna release it on it.
…but if not, then I’ll try to wait for next gen.

Releasing TTT2 on the next-gen after releasing a demo for it on PS3 would be the worst bait-and-switch in a long time.

That is just more of the fact that alot of people here are not into 3-D fighters. People were involved in Tekken back then but not so much now. Wish Tekken got more hype but alas.

Let the kid hate with all of his bias.

SCIV is a perfectly example of a good-looking 3D FG game… looking good. T6’s console port was shoddy, but the gameplay is intact - and that’s what really matters in the end.

The fact SCIV was x, console T6 was y, and so on, just proves that there are a lot of dev teams on Namco - which, by the way, work differently from one another. Talk about generalization and blind hate, lol.

See the trouble with updating and balacing fighting games is that there is a period when a company can actually afford to do so, and that period after launch does not lineup with our wants and needs in most cases. Yeah we may be getting updates sooner than we like, but updating once we figure out the game and cap it out is not really something a company can afford to do, and even if they do, it isn’t likely to be wanted by the community at that point. Look up HDR discussion or people saying that Third Strike didn’t need a balance update because this was the game they loved.

When do you think we will get some videos from the London event?

Oh my god…
Dude, shut the fuck up.

You’re such a waste of post. Go back to Capcom-Unity, man. Real talk.

No “Bikini” Chun-Li please. Thanks.

Jump Festa is next week, shame we may not get any new info then =/

Well Asuka has to pop out sooner or later. I imagine the Dec 23rd event would be for all the characters in the latest teasers (Boxer, Claw, Juri, Paul, Law & Ling)

I have a problem with DLC outfits
I mean Dead Or Alive 2 HC and 3 had a crap ton of outfits and required zero DLC to do it and really had some of the coolest and versatile outfits I’ve seen in fighting games.
Even known the option for Bikini clad Kasumi (and others) was available I opted for more ninja-espque outfits.
So I must give props to Tecmo, hopefully they’ll continue the trend in DOA5 – 4 was a little lack luster in the outfitting department

iirc, tekken 6 and ttt2 run on an arcade hardware based on the ps3, the reason why the graphics are downgraded its because the xbox 360 version cant be inferior to the ps3 version in order to prevent the alienation of the player base of one console over another

I think it is important to keep in mind that as tech gets more advanced offering things like different costumes becomes a lot more expensive for the developer. With that said the extent that some companies go to charge for DLC costumes is a bit excessive.
