I’m done overreacting now. Still not thrilled about the system as a whole. Autoblock gem sounds useless like Pandora - one blockstring = your meter is gone - so that’s a relief for now.
I don’t see a problem with those systems, though. The dash charge could make up interesting CH setups and even though launchers beat lows they’re still unsafe as fuck, so you’re making a huge commitment if you use it.

If gems are DLC you can bet that they will be overpowered/super strong. They have to attract people somehow.

If you’re lucky the exclusive gems will be only aesthetic.
That sure worked with Shuma and Jill, everyone knows they’re by far the strongest characters in MvC3.
I think the DLC Gems, if they are actual things, will either by aesthetic silly things, or options to unlock things in game, much like how BB allows to pay money to unlock the Unlimited characters if you’re lazy.

If it’s just 1 gem out of 9 that becomes dominant, the point still stands that it becomes an advantage to pay for that 1, or the pack that has it.

Over the initial disappointment of Gem system, I think we all knew it was going to suck anyway, now Im just disappointed that almost nothing was revealed this weekend. We already knew Rufus was in, and the characters in the teasers, assuming they are Law Paul and Xiayou, were characters we already guessed were going to be in. No gameplay videos of the new characters, what a waste.
At least MvC3 got 2 full reveals and character breakdowns with Seth Killian.

Gems are NOT passive bonuses. They have to be activated. If there is in fact a tech throw gem, it would most likely activate from a tech throw or from being thrown. And it would only work once. So one free tech grab, not ALL of them.
