When I say gameplay, I’m asking whether you actually used the character yourself. You can play against as many character x players as you want. It’s not an insightful way to determine how good the character is. How do you know that your opponent has been using his character to his full potential, when you hardly know anything about said character? Does your opponent know, what punish he can use at what times? Does he know the ranges and other properties of the characters’ normals? Does he space his specials in a way that makes them safe? Does he know how to play the match up?
Beating random Rog players means nothing. You have to use and study the character yourself for a valid verdict. That’s one of the reasons why I think that a lot of SFxT tier lists are useless. No practical and valid experience, just theory crafting. It’s not a coincidence when players place their main characters higher/lower in tier lists than the others would.

Hey so… did the ps3 side get 4 gem slots… did i read it right? Also, xbox will get it too, right?
Im so done with Time Warner and ranked until i get a new IP. Went from 15150 to 14900 back to 15008 because the gawddamn connection wont let me block overheads, also what the Hell is seriously going on when my opponent is mashing blatant blockstring shorts against me- im mashing launcher, stuff wont come out at all or it comes out when they jump over me smfh you know those connections when your opponents normals feel like they’re +9000 on block lol
they were suppose to fix the cable on my block, it’s still sh*T /rant /blogsrk /whogivesafugg
Folks are using Comcast right now. Things are solid, but I get these weird spikes continually. I was playing against Creative today, and it was spiking just on and off at random. However, the connection outside of those spikes was really solid. Made no real sense.
I’m surprised he even touches this game still after that thrashing…
The fated thrashing…

This probably isn’t useful for most of you guys, but I started to cover most of Rog’s normals here. In the next part I will take on his specials. It wasn’t intentional at all, but at around 0:52 I got a sick beatkill lol

You were already awesome, but that awesome level just jumped by like 90,000 points.

Haha, thanks for the kind words.
I just can’t get over that beat kill. I first recorded the footage and picked the BGM afterwards. Ridiculous coincidence

“I’ve played against Law, Hwoarang and Chun players in SFxT and blown them up.” How is that a valid point for a character being strong or weak?
I’m quite positive that most Rog players are not using him to his full potential yet. I’m not excluding myself, that’s pretty much why I want to put some work into this character and find the actual limits. Coffee is definitely getting there though.
You said my points are based on theory crafting rather than actual gameplay.
I’ve played games against Balrog, and the points I made are still valid.
There’s a room for theory as well, especially when the points are logical.

I’ve played Balrog a bit, but I’m not an expert on him. I’ve put lab time into the entire cast at this point and I’ve been on the SFxT forums since day dot.
If you’re doing well with Balrog it’s a credit to you and the game’s balance that he’s somewhat viable. I don’t think he’s the worst character in the game, but he’s down there.
This isn’t Marvel though, the bottom characters can compete. If you can find enough to lift him from depths I’m interested, but as it stands even if he’s not useless, he’s nothing special either.
Good video though, really solid production value.

I can live with that as that’s where his position currently is. Some people see him as a mid tier character and I will be happy, if I can confirm that at least. He is fun to play though, so it’s fine either way. Maybe I will even see 2-3 more Rogs showing up. Just wanna promote this character.
Thanks for the kind words
I will try to improve things in the next video.

GGs to @SolidRose. Some good and fun games, loved the Akuma/Lili synergy.
…but holy CRAP Akuma dies fast. O.o
Also noticed you were rocking the 4x gems…I still wonder if that was an accidental or purposeful release. I’m surprised Capcom hasn’t addressed it yet.

RC, you’re going to teach me how to use Balrog…might pair him up with Nina now that I can finally do her “other” post launch combo
I’m also going to learn Hugo
Edit: Elena is great, no one should be hating on her and feel the rhythm of the earth!
Whoa I missed your post, sorry about that. Can’t teach you much currently, since I’m learning too. I wonder whether you can connect a turn punch after ivory cutter. That damage would be beast!

Needs to get addressed but I don’t mind though. It’s funny, all other regions are probably drooling to get their hands on this.
I want my 4th gem slot. D:
Starting tomorrow I might invest more time into discovering tech for my B team (still Dhalsim / Kuma)
I haven’t played much Kuma since vanilla and Sim is kinda fun.
It has got to the point there is an ocean between me and the top players but I can’t cross it because the average skill of the people I face is way too low to level up.
Everyone dies fast vs Asuka

No kill it with fire. I’m completely fine with the free gems and 3 slots. Might as well introduce gems that increase your maximum meter to 4. Does nobody see how this is gonna make DLC gem users even harder to fight? You can’t avoid getting hit by normals/specials when your opponent is good. There are gems that give you a whole bar for quick rising twice. Characters that have great tools which are limited and balanced with meter costs can suddenly go ham with it. A player has 10% of his first bar filled, gets a hit, gem activates and gives him instantly a bar to tag cancel into a round ending combo. Call me a salty scrub, but how is that fair?
The 4th slot will make it just worse and they might add a 5th one?
oh yes Juri with 2/3 speed gems and 2 meter gems…heheheheh

Definitely going to try this. Although I am going to keep my resolution and antialiasing where they are since I get >200 fps as it is lol

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. If they add a 4th gem slot, DLC gems will be even more trouble. As of now, gems most gems don’t bug me but a 4th gem can totally make a huge difference in gameplay. With each gem slot made available, the game can become increasingly more broken.
Guile is my dream SF4 character - No bullshit, pure zoning, gdlk normals… Why have I not started learning him sooner?
I hate that thing so much. When it’s done offline, punishing is so simple. But once you go online, ugh… I get jabbed out of my buttons into Bob/whatever incoming character. I hate that thing, I know it’s coming, I try to beat them to the punch and still lose. Maybe I should just EX GC/DP.
Not against Law!

I feel Elena’s overhyped on the reach front. Not by much, but somewhat. Maybe I’m not using the right normals, but “eh”. I’m basically learning Elena from trial and error, atm. Q_Q
You’ll come around :P. She has like the craziest, most awkward to deal with normals. nj.HK is like on Bob levels, plus slide and f.HK. It’s not the most versatile set of hit boxes, but they’re all very…different and surprising >.<
Yo, my cousin was playing Ranked Matches and he ran into you. The first thing he said was, “Ugh… some D ranked player, I bet he doesn’t even know how to ABC.” I responded with, “I bet you his Bob bodies you fray.” Before you guys even readied up. He still won, but he was like why doesn’t he have more points?
Oh, and screw Elena, I hate her. In every game. Stupid, stupid face character with your retarded pokes/special moves.
Naw breh, I bet me and my cousin could get in there and bop that Vega back to ST. lol.
