Bison was Bottom tier in S1, and was in the shitter ever since Beta 2 after JWong wiped the floor with Daigo and everyone at the E3 unveiling.

The point is the reward. Let’s talk about Ryu, his cr.mk was a staple until SFV, no one ever complained about that normal and if Ryu had meter to convert into big damage the problem is on his opponents. In SFV a crush counter lead to a bigger reward than a cr.mk cancelled into hadoken/shoryu/Tatsu, with VT or CA the damage is even bigger. Normals in SFV are generally awful and the priority system don’t help to work around CCs for preventive pokes or whiff punishes, even -4/-5 CCs are generally safe if spaced well. Crush Counters +oB are against the commitment Capcom talked about presenting SFV, where’s the bad side of them? Street Fighter in general had always gdlk normals people had trouble playing around them, in V the risk in fighting these normals is higher than the reward. Capcom itself tried to tone down the CCs goodness, but definitely isn’t enough. Crush Counters are here to stay, but their effectiveness isn’t homogeneous among the cast, if you have a good one you’re almost forced to fish continuously for it. Only when I’ve started playing Zeku I’ve realized how good Karin st.HK was and the only way to avoid that shit was jumping on her.

I never got the Ryu LP fireball being to strong, I’m pretty sure it was 31 recovery which is what Sagat is now ( and still not even close to Guile).

So yeah I think I was wrong about Sagat v guile. I thought Sagat would go ok, but more I play it, it’s into hard counter territory.
