SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

From what I saw, Momochi’s patience got him through. He displayed excellent footsies to.

I don’t know where the post is 'cause it was a long, long while ago but I do still remember the why. Long winded explanation incoming 'cause I’m not good at making things concise XP

Basically it was pushboxes. Pushboxes are a designated area where two characters cannot be at the same time, so the larger the pushbox, the further the characters will be from each other if they’re right next to each other. If you did a wakeup button, your pushbox was a different size to your regular standing/crouching pushbox. Usually this meant your pushbox was wider when hitting a button, so you ended up a further distance from the opponent. Capcom fixed the majority of buttons so at least during the first few frames, the pushbox is the same size as your standing/crouching box.

Exaggerated visual sample, since frame trapped doesn’t display pushboxes. Let’s say your standing pushbox (the yellow transparent one) is like this.

You meaty an opponent, and your next button connects and combos just fine.

However, let’s say they have an attack where if they press it, their pushbox expands to this size

image

Now if you meatied and they hit that button, you will end up farther from the opponent, since that larger pushbox is a larger area you cannot occupy. So you end up at this distance now (note that previously the pushboxes were right next to each other, now they’re further apart, the empty space being where the expanded pushbox on the opponent’s button was)

image

And since you’re further away, the follow-up misses

AFAIK, the pushbox thing here exists in other fighting games, and was in SF4 as well. It’s just super noticeable in SFV because of how limiting Capcom made combos, where you could only do certain links if you were hitting right next to the opponent. As mentioned they changed most buttons to fix this, but there are probably still a few outliers here or there.

Fuudo, please. He was already dead.

Im surprised he didnt go to Birdie. Mika is fun though

It was nice to see him destroy a filthy Laura main like that, though.

Yeah he had the skill to win with either character .

Mika vs Zeku I like. I respect O.Zeku actually being on screen for once. He had to switch to young in that second round though. No meter old Zeku having to block is RIP

so it’s been like a week since I’ve seen it but Us is a great fucking movie, Jordan Peele has quickly become one of my favorite directors working these days. So glad I got to see it before it went out of theaters (I was broke before I got money last week)

Also how has this tourney been going, I haven’t been able to see it so far

Getting lamed by O Zeku while using Mika.

Luffy washed up.

Yeah old Zeku has trouble laming slower characters than Mika. Shouldnt have let it get that lame

Can confirm he does nothing but nap inbetween his matches.

Yung Daigo slept on every and anything too. He always takes a break from the material world

Can’t even lie, I would’ve been freed up by that ibuki mixup. :weary:

Mago with that lewd Cammy costume. I hope he loses.

Dogura does with bison what problem x couldnt, beating fujimura.

Abigai’s vt2… i love the move but it’s just broken.

Luckily nobody uses his VT2 right online. They just do fake stuff that’s easy to beat.

Aegis is balanced. Unlike Abi VT2. Honest battle.

Well four of those suck but I won’t get on my guest character soapbox.

is delayed wake up the only option when Abi knocks you down and immediately goes for a fully charged VT2 (assuming you don’t have meter for reversals or time to jump over it)?

I dont think its good outside of meaty situations.

Only jump the full charge which has an audio tell. Take the +5 from lvl2. From what i remember he isn’t in throw range after.
