SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

Maybe he meant he wouldn’t be posting until then but either way that’s what he told me

Well get it going then.
One of the guys from Bodø (really far north even by Norwegian standards) manages to gather all the four Tekken players living less than an hour away from him every second week. Two of these people are trash and one is the sort of guy who’d fill your scrubquote-quota for the next two months if you spent five minutes with him.

He still keeps going. No complaints that “the community sucks”.

Shit would be dope.

It’s not the level of play or the number of people (or rather, it wasn’t on the latter bit), it’s that the people were shit

I’d go and have people constantly complaining about how bad I am (one day they refused to let me play at all because of it), I got kicked off of a set-up that me and other players were on because they wanted another Marvel set-up despite already having one available (was just casuals, no tourneys or money matches), and whenever there was a game that wasn’t Marvel or SF4 there’d be people saying how shitty it was and it usually didn’t last past that day

I still kept going for a while despite all of that, but after SFV launched everyone stopped showing up for anything and the only thing left here is Melee, and that’s all they’ll play. None of my friends like fighting games either.

So I’m stuck alone again.

Oh hell no, cooldowns are trash. I’m not giving up my part of my toolset because I wanted to use an EX move.

It’s fine in Granblue because there’s no regular meter in that game and so cooldowns work in a way to replace regular meter, and Granblue is also a new IP and so they’re allowed to come up with new wacky systems. Spreading cooldowns to other fighting games though? No thanks.

Nah locking out using a move completely adds a really interesting layer. In mk you meter burn something you can go right back to tossing projectiles or meter burn dashing.

I instantly felt how important it was to think about using a ex move as oppose to just burning it for plus frames or mix ups.

I’d like another dev to play around with the mechanic some too. It could be come the next “thing”

Eh that’s a great idea…“you want this ex move, it’s gonna cost you.”

How much would that shake up sf5

@Akhos Lemme know if you are up for games. I’ve got around an hour and a half of fight time.

I like the cooldown system, it can also help create balance for meter hungry characters without stripping them of super availability. It also doubles down on the resource management aspect of fighters, and really stomps on the “throw and forget” mentality due to losing the move altogether.

I think it could work in an SF game for sure, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. A lot of benefits in terms of balance design I’d like to see explored.

Cooldown system on universal mechanics or specific character abilities ?

There is something there for sure. But it will open a lot of discussions such as “the cooldown on that is too low / high”.People will always complain about something.

I’m personally not a fan because it will further limit characters.

I prefer the entire toolkit and the only limitation to be your ability to put yourself in a good enough scenario to take advantage of said tools.

Imagine not being able to dp your opponent when he jumps at you because you just anti aired his jump 2 seconds ago.

NP, just pay 5 euro in the cash shop and have your cooldowns regen 30% faster for the next 10 matches with the latest booster pack.

You guys need to watch the new season of Black Mirror. Its about fighting games lol.

That wouldn’t happen unless you used EX DP.

Damn I’m mad late to this but I get where Perth is coming from. Cosplat thots are cancer but there’s mad good men and women that be doing crazy cosplay shit like Iron Man outfits with light up shit and everything. I don’t hate cosplay but I can def tell when someone is doing cosplay for the attention whore points and not because they have a legit love of the character and just wanna show cool shit.

Also it’s very telling when many females that cosplay slutty animu characters also make porn and got ninjas paying them for sets on Patreon. That shit gets me.

Funniest thing about it is that I didnt really explain anything and people got mad, accused me of insulting their friends and made jokes about people shooting up my classrooms.

But I guess me getting murdered while at work is just in good fun.

Like frost said unless they decided to ex dp… Which usually happens on wake or in the middle of a string… You would never have to work about that.

You got the knock on Rashid or akuma… Or they ex dp after a negative situation. Well now they have to eat a bit of time without a reversal…it’s almost hard for me to think of why it’s a bad thing.

It ex urien head butt, head butt…nope rog ex dash into dash? Nope…Karin? Nope… Bison… Nope

It really would be a perfect mechanic for 5 as it stands now.

But over I’d like to see it played with more with more games built around or on top of it.

You poor soul it must be hard being the target of a joke
