Finally reached Ultra Diamond which was my goal for this year. I’ll probably take a long ass break from ranked now. Eventually I’ll make a run for Master but that will have to wait a while. I don’t think I have what it takes right now so I’m just going to chill for a while.

I don’t mind the turn based stuff tbh. But sf ain’t turn based. There’s lots of good turn based stuff out there though, I definitely get down with that.
All the Shining Force, Xcom, Langrisser and Fire Emblem games are GOAT turn based games.
Edit - I missed out Fallout 1 , Fallout 2 and Jagged Alliance 2.

I feel the problem with 09ers in general is they think that Street Fighter can only be played in 1 way.
If you introduce something different to the gameplay, it’ll be almost like a betrayal to them. All those years of what they thought street fighter is supposed to be becomes a lie.
I asked my 09er friends what exactly they hate about SF5 and I get these few answers
- I want 1 frame links and FADC back
- The characters in SF5 don’t play the same as SF4 (The characters they main in SF4 aren’t even in SF5 so I don’t get what they are whining about)
- SF5 is a guessing game. Too many 50/50s.
- SF5 is too easy. There is no skill involved (When I told them to play Menat they refused)
- SF5 tournament results are too inconsistent. The best players get randomed out and they don’t win all the time. (WTF?)
And they seem to take pride in always reminding everyone that they are the only ones in our group who don’t play SF5. Only at the monthly gatherings at my house.
It gets very very irritating.
SF6 is going to be different from all previous versions of Street Fighter. But you can bet I’ll adapt to it right away even though I’m a self proclaimed SF5 fanboy.

Capcom has started to be concern with health issues and wanted everyone to burn some fat.
The new SF6 is so immersive and interactive that was never been done before with any SF game and has better learning curve that everyone can play along with.

But still you guys still need to be worried with your reaction time.
SFV is a 50/50 guessing game, but vortex and ambigious setups are totaly skillfull things that involve no guessing.
Also your friends sound like Highland, how many of them main Sagat and don’t know what a Neutralgame is?
My 09er friends are actually really really strong. Even though they play SF5 only once every month or 2 months, they beat some of the SF5 fanboys in our group who range from Gold - Super Diamond.
They have rock solid fundamentals.
One mains C.Viper
Another mains Yun/Yang/Guy
The other one mains Rose

On the topic of Discord, I counted around 50 people who joined and stayed at our BB Discord since the start of the year, a good amount.
A warm welcome and nice personal definitly helps.
Also the cirlcejerk on the SRK was enough for em to leave, place was toxic enough that even I didn’t want to stay.

Sfv 50/50 requires no skill to setup. In sf4 you generally needed a KD to vortex and the better player inevitably got the first KD like 80% of the time. And last but not least, in sf4 with vortex, you know exactly when it’s going to come. In sf5 your opponent can bust out a random dash from anywhere and Completely change the landscape and feel of the neutral since pokes don’t go far enough to chase backdashes, and nor do they control enough forward space to dissuade forward dashes, and the ones that do, tend to lose out and out to jumpins, unless you have a DP
