Leaving aside the somewhat creepy obsession some people have with “pure” women, who the fuck would say that Makoto is “pure”? Her most iconic super is literally a superpowered dick punch, and her most important special chokes people and lets her punch them while they’re disoriented.
In fact, that’s part of the appeal with Makoto imo. Her fighting style is dirty and brutal. You don’t see that too often from female FG characters.
Makoto is needed because she offsets all the fanservice T&A. She’s a refreshing design for a female fighter. A gentle contrast between innocence and brutality.
She does not look like a slut, but she is still sexy (red bra for a win).
She looks determined and like a real fighter. Her back story is simple, but still better than most characters.
Her VA is great, her walk is awesome and moves are really cool. On top of that, she is really technical.
Thinking about it, both Makoto and Hilde have one big thing in common: they both look rather harmless but as soon as the fight starts they go through their opponents like a wrecking ball.

Also, since the playerbase laments the lack of strong zoning gameplay, we gave her an Hadoken and made her a mostly zoning character with slow dashes.
To make a comeback she can pop VT2 and gain access to her command grab or VT1 for her normal fast dashes!"
oh hey ill fill you guys in in the MASSIVE DRAMA of doa6 in the last couple days thats actually basically nothing and everyone was scared for no reason.
There was a clip where dude got hit into wall, and then it showed them mashing a counter before they got re-comboed and everyones like GAME DEAD etc etc cause thats normally not how it works.
So turns out how it works now is you can hit dude off a wall, and get a guaranteed combo right away like always, or the game will auto-restand them if you wait a second after wall-hit giving them an option to counter(and nothing else possible in this state) so you can reset them/relaunch them/whatever for more damage if you wanna take a risk of them having them having a chance to counter out.
And then everyone went from GAME DEAD to “oh thats cool even more varied wall game than before, nice more options is neat”
Ok you are caught up now I am sure it was riveting stuff, make sure you play DoA6 its gonna be pretty cool also they hinted at a network test/beta/demo.
I think the only redesign I like is Ibuki’s, not a fan at all of Karin, Vega (possibly the worst one paired with Juri redesign imho), and to an extent Cody (I like his visual change and all and I like to play him a lot, but he feels sooo linear in this game).
Overall I’m not a fan of how these redesigns for the most part streamlined the characters and made them more generic, felt like something integral to them was lost in transition.
