I’d prefer the game to be composed of Alexes and Nashes than Akumas and Guiles because when an Alex or Nash does something sick, you know it was sick.
It’s not gonna be enough. Top tiers are still gonna top tier. Don’t see any of the top tiers moving out of top except maybe Cammy and the last time she moved out of top tier it was to still very solid high mid. Cody and G better than Falke sure, but Sagat is questionable and some could argue that Falke is better than Sagat at this point really or at least clearly better at certain things than him.
Capcom has proven they are not planning on giving Alex and Fang things that run the meta. It will be another season of them giving flight cancel to Alex’s lariat and allowing Fang to kara cancel another one of his moves.
No problem at having top tiers, what’s annoying me is the difference between them and the rest of the cast. I don’t expect or want them to be nerfed into the oblivion, but at least them being manageable for the rest of the cast below top 10. I agree with Alex and Fang and that’s why I was against these two includes, because they’re clearly characters Capcom don’t want to be strong at all. I don’t think Alex players would stop doing dumb shit even if he becomes generally good, Fang is the classic character to let him stay in a limbo 'cuz nobody wants to deal with a broken Fang. Capcom created slots waste, no reason to create characters just to be low tier forever, except Dan.
Just playing. He jumped brainless because the game teached him to do that, not just because of the low damage of AAs in general, but because reacting isn’t easy in SFV. Input lag makes most people afraid about punish with dp’s, so they blocked most of the time. Newbies can’t deal with OG zoning and they don’t want to deal with CC also, so jumping seems the best solution. It’s hard to fight someone able to dp you 10 times out of 10 because of lag and the reward for a connected jump in looks too juicy.
I had near a 60% win ratio in the last 300 or so matches with Gief before I switched to Falke.
Now I have a 22% win ratio with Falke in almost 500 matches.
I don’t see how that is any better.
I think they just don’t like honest and fair grapplers.
I don’t like these rumours that a couple of characters might come via fighting chance. Not because that would be dumb but because Capcom is actually dumb enough to implement something like this. Ever since AE it’s been pretty obvious they don’T want people to pay for the shiny stuff with FM all the time and locking fighters behind lootbox crap is certainly a good way to get rid of a lot of saved up FM.
Ain’t gonna happen, especially when people can just pay with real money for a character. I’ve tried the Fighting Chance to get Zeku Silver costume, guess what? I’ve spend +200k FM, get almost all the EX colors, a plethora of useless Survival stuff and no Zeku EX color. I have no luck with this kind of stuff and people are already pissed because we haven’t another way to get FM. Definitely ain’t gonna happen, same story for 2 additional characters before S4.
I gotta watch that set later Devil Jin but did you see that slick ass jump back medium kick to beat Falke’s fb?
I thought maybe you would gif it since it looked like he kicked the fb back to her face it was late as heck…well early as heck too I guess
If they have 2 more characters in store, they should reveal them at TGS. Longer than that, and it would be too close to the CPT.
based on how capcom handles the game so far…it actually would make sense.
put them in, get peoples fm and let the rest at the end pay for them because they did not managed to get them in time or due to being unlucky.
the same model they do with the customes. you can earn em via the challenges and later on they got released as purchasable packs.
Damn i feel for you, i hate fighting chance so much but i got lucky as hell and won the Cammy costume on first or second try if i remember.
But i know…i just know the bastards gonna add a Juri one and it’s gonna suck me dry off the FM i got left.
You know what? I haven’t any interest in the others EX colors or Cammy alt., but I got a ton of those instead. Was like the game already knows I wanted just the Zeku EX color and did the best to don’t let me get it. With that in mind I’m done with Fighting Chance.
It’s never gonna happen but i would love some sort of trading system for colors and costumes or tbh even a way to exchange 2 x unwanted items / colors for a certain one that you want.
But the whole point of Fighting Chance is to slowly but surely consume the player’s FM , so Capcom ain’t gonna allow trading of any kind.
Yo Feroce, you dont have the minty fresh Zeku story mode EX?
Your Zeku will never be top tier if you arent dressed right. Stupid menat.
Falke shuts down Birdie pretty well, I just managed to beat a 19k DIamond Birdie player.
Time scamming feels good man.
I also think that Falke might end up being a bad matchup for Sagat. Unlike with Guile he can’t just switch to a more offensive gameplan against her, so you can just punish his fireballs forever from fullscreen until he gets desperate and starts doing stupid shit.
The thing that’s so hard for me to wrap my head around in sf5 is how stubborn people are in the game. Even in playing in the arcades and even vs randoms back at the start of consoles. If someone jumped at someone and got punished 2 or 3 times BACK to BACK they would stop at least for that match.
In sf5 people might pause for a min, throw a fireball or dash in and throw… then go right back to jumping.
While it blows my mind it also makes sense, because one jump in combo to corner carry and oki with a lot of character is worth eating 300 damage but because the pay off is so big.
They don’t think of it like that (they just want to land big damage) but thats really whats happen.
Makes me question how good I am at fighters lol.
screw you SF5!
“Alright, I AAd him 4 times already, he will probably stop now. Better look for his dash”
Then he jumps again, but you can’t react in time because your attention was in the dash. They should just reliable anti airs with CC properties.
That’s why i use Juri’s CR HP more often now. That thing was terrible when she was first added but they buffed it a bit and it works quite good in most cases now ( still fails at times ). But man it CC so often as an anti air and the payoff is quite good.
It’s not hard for me to understand. 1. Because I’m naturally a jumper anyways, always have been even in the arcades back in the 90’s.
2. Because unfortunately the game just doesn’t give basically anyone good enough safe tools to win on the ground alone UNLESS you can 1 hit confirm ground pokes. Other than that and perhaps using Menat, you have to land some combos sometime in order to win and that just wasn’t a thing in the old school for most fighters.
3. Because this game forces people to make really dumbass wack as fuck decisions… which actually work decently because the game is designed for dumb shift to work and have an actual place.
It’s just upsetting to see the shit in actual play and getting traction. Like I wasn’t mad at seeing that stupid rye jump in 4 times in a row and get dp’d 4 times in a row… what REALLY pissed me off was that after those 4 AA’s, he’s basically gotten hella outplayed, but then he “mixes it up” with a dash up throw… and it works. And that’s sf5. “Mixups” you didn’t earn via spacing, you just get because you got your ass beat in section 1 so now you can just switch it up to section 2 or 3 or 4 or 5… rather than having to actually fight your way out of your terrible position… you just get to roll the dice over and over.
Meh.
At least I got that one! Fresh af
