Should’ve written an article back in the day praising Capcom for making the twins OP
Would’ve won everyone over, as that EH article has done today

If you want a place with better voices, then instead of inspecting someone else like SRK to do it, make it happen by yourself.
I don’t mean it as an insult. I mean, make the change rather than wait for others to do it.
Why do you think my scene is growing?
Silly pat on my back aside. I had like…6-7 things I was actively working on writing years ago. Stuff on various community topics ( I could’ve done gameplay but that would require me to sit down with the better players and get their insights on situations etc. Not that I didn’t want to do it, but couldn’t start doing that since it required certain leg work).
Didn’t work out and then I lost to motivation to keep writing for the forums. The last thing I wrote for the forums was an essay about Evo on the week a good friend of mine died. Kind of got lost in the shuffle of Evo week but it felt nice to write. Reread it last year and it was surprisingly okay.
Its meh overall. I wanted to write about street level hustling up your city to improve your scene back in…2011 but that didn’t get approved as a topic. Hilariously enough, the question @Akhos asked about having supplemental characters I wrote about years ago too; more on how you should approach training mode and secondaries on a larger sense (that didn’t get approved either but I got a lot of insight into how things got dun doned),.
A lot of sour grapes but w/e. Not to worried about any of that anymore since I have infinitely more positive things going on in my life than some silly ass website shit.
Like most top end top players, Nemo has super high end pattern recognition. Not just obvious things like “hey this dudes jumping a lot, I should look to AA him more”
But things like “I should dash NOW, not in 20 frames” etc. of course this isn’t totally conscious decision making, but I’ve studied Nemo’s style with urien and it’s a basic offshoot of infiltrations S1 Nash. I studied the style because, same as you, it’s foreign to me. Suffice it to say I wasn’t able to completely figure it out, but I figured out enough that it’s basically as you say, Nemo is trying to make people figure him out with his own proactive play, rather than try and react well or “see” every situation and figure them out… basically take eitas style of play, make it more cerebral, slow it down a tad with top player stuff…
Bam.
Nemo is playing basically the same game as your average ultra gold, but with a way better reactive, executional, and spacing faculty. His decisions are basically the same as you see at that level, and basically for the same things. The difference is Nemo is going to pick the correct option the vast majority of time because he’s that smart. It’s not a style that is really replicable unless a persons in game fighting intuition/IQ is both as smart as his AND as fast as his.
There was a game I remember Nemo played. I think against gachikun in grand finals, gachikun smoked Nemo and Nemo’s calmer more controlled style was just getting worked. So after the reset Nemo said fuck this and just went all out aggressive. He ended up beating gachikun 3-1 iirc in that final set and it looked like a completely different matchup. That’s Nemo in sf5. He either starts out fast and waits for you to adjust, if you can. And if you can he will either slow down and take advantage of your flailing, or he will keep playing fast but with a different move rotation or spacing.
Or he will start out slow and see if you can handle that… if you can, then he will speed things up or die trying. I don’t know what it is that determines whether he starts out slow or fast but it’s probably based on both the matchup and the player.
Fighting games are fucking nuts.
I love that everything I learn in this genre makes me feel like an absolute mook. Its all crazy anime description stuff of subtle things.
too bad eternal doesn’t post here. He linked a SF4 lounge one that had a long discussion on footsies that was great. It almost feels like all of the great, insightful stuff for FGs has gotten lost in the forums.
Sagat has polished finger tips with his default outfit but in his other outfits his finger tips aren’t glittery.
Sagat confirmed for being Posh.
The other factor about writing articles is that if you’re going to try to keep readers engaged you need to publish stuff fairly frequently and that often leads to quality taking a hit. I used to post my own stuff awhile back for a different hobby and even wrote for one of the “big” sites for a bit, and I always felt a lot better about what I came up with on my on volition versus the articles I had to put together to meet deadlines.
For what its worth I put a lot more value in the articles that make it up on SRK than EventHubs. That site is massively quantity over quality - even when they try to buckle down and write something more considered they don’t really have the editorial chops for it. And the constant race to keep eyes on the site leads to them posting a bunch of sub-basement shit like DBZ power levels or why its great Nintendo is killing chars in Smash trailers.
Fuck the footsies handbook I want to know about what 12 characters from Dragon Ball Super could be in the unannounced DLC plans maybe in the future for DBFZ.
I have to laugh at the ridiculous hit/hurt boxes in sfv now or be mad salty.
The other day I got clipped by Akuma cr. Mk and was far enough away that it look off as hell. I was bout ready to toss a stick that match.
Don’t you dare hate on a good hitbox in this game, Ricky Bobby.
Don’t you dare hate on a good hitbox at all.
Ah ok so just block back and you’re fine? But he can mess with your aa’s because he can air cross up before landing, and in vtrigger it can hit behind or it does hit behind?
When you’re dirty feet smell is so powerful it has an aura.
Lol and I get accused of being petty.
“Wow he’s really qualified,” PackZ, who has competed professionally, typed. “Work with him bro. Looks like you could learn a lot.” While Banks managed to avoid being grilled or embarrassed on-air which would have sabotaged the broadcast itself, Adeboye would take it a step further attempting to bait Banks on Twitter.
Hmm…so this part is going to get interesting. They said all the bullshit (which is a terribad attitude to have with somebody who is coming in) but they didn’t fuck anything up.
so if they didn’t fuck up the broadcast and sabotage the guy, why is this news?
It’s funny how this place has picked up since Evo. This forum is fucking shit but since Jin has all the influence and power I’m at his mercy.
It’s a buzz word that has lost all context since it got hot on de weebz. But it’s basically 30 something year olds in the current year.
Funnily enough I would legit consider Evil._Canada a boomer.
Also this.
In the discord.
It still has power over us.
Honest hitbox for an honest game.
Isn’t that literally his play style? He played Vega in S1 and was doing that and in SIV he played Rolento was was basically doing shit all the time.
That is why I always enjoy watching Nemo play. Dude plays like he needs to finish up the set rq so he can get back to fucking your sister in the ass and uploading the vid to PornHub so he can tweet the link to you anytime you feel at all good about yourself.
