I like Iori so he can have a command grab. And now we bring favoritism into the equation. And I bet all of my 500 FM that Capcom is ran off of 40% favoritism and shill statistics. Either way Commitment Fighter V is fine, I’m not shitty enough to quit and I use a “grappler” myself so.
I still want to see some solid straight no chaser characters.
Urien has other stuff that’s better than what G has including not being built around a power up system that requires a trigger to get a limited amount of your strongest power + better v skill. Urien is just more dangerous from the start and with some EX meter in general than G.
G may have some better keepout and a command grab, but overall whatever. The flip kick while hard for some characters to AA leaves him minus so he doesn’t really get any advantage for making you block it and doesn’t hit overhead. He’s like a more extreme version of Birdie for closer relation. A wall of a character with great pressure, but has to pres level up to really get going and if you get in on him he makes Birdie seem like Guile defensively.
Of the top 5 they all have EX reversals except for Menat and Menat still has a 3 frame. G has no key feature to protect himself from frame traps and oki. Just pray slow jab, backdash, v reversal and super and we all know G players aren’t going to burn V Reversal too much because VT1 is the crutch to get to level 4 pres. All of the frame traps you have in the lab you can just wail G with all day so that makes him overall more honest compared to Urien or Birdie. It’s worth the struggle to get past the neutral for the reward.
Falke is solid and straight and does not chase. Unless you want to build stun/oki to get life lead back, but not really her gameplan.
I need to find a character that’s good middle ground between Sakura and Balrog.

I’d actually really like to see Elena back. I really don’t think they’d make the mistake of attaching Healing to a comeback mechanic again like in USFIV.

Elena ALMOST reached Blanka hate status but guess who we got in SFV. I really really hope they add her just so they can shut people up about how they’re slacking in the animation department. She has to go in to show off the game, also Crimson Viper can do the same.
Also if Sagat got in with kara inputs then CV can come right on down with her feints
Mika has solid buttons, can whiff punish things, sexy confirms, v-trigger comebacks and okie out the dokie.
oh and you get command grabs for days. People always downplaying that broad for god forsaken reasons. The Mika downplay lobby is the worst. Well, not as about as the National Cammy Association and its ridiculous president James Chen.

Is there a reason why all dashes should not be a few frames slower? I think that that is the thing i hate the most in this game.

I’ve always known Mika was good. She was a matchup I devoted a lot of lab time to cause I hated how it was 1 or 2 touches > blender > RIP.
Think she’ll be a good fit, since I know her so well already.
Best thing about Makoto is watching her in the 3rd round stocked with two meters on SA2 and then Yun fucks up while she has a pixel of health.

Makoto needs a better backstory. I like her gameplay and she’s fun to watch (at least in SF4), but I dont feel particularly attatched to the character.
I’d honestly rather have Elena back but I know her chances are very low since the hate she gathered in SF4 made her one of the least popular characters.
Rose would be my #1 choice, and she is a well liked character, but she’s missing the mass appeal that characters like Juri or Sakura have, so she always seems overlooked.
I do think we’re gonna keep getting new females each season. I’d say Effie and Phantom are up there.
If they bring in Rose and Viper, I hope they’ll keep their boobs canon sized.
Maybe I’m too much gameplay oriented, that’s why I don’t care about backstory or how they could fit in the actual one. In fact I care only about character I want to USE rather than SEE. I don’t ask for X character just because of look or because I’m curious about what Capcom can do with them.
People complain about how some characters’ dashes are too slow, so slowing them down further wouldn’t work out too great.
Killer Instinct has cheaper dashes than the ones in this game for the most part (Sabrewulf forward dash is basically S1 Nash dash and Bipson trigger dash combined), but lag difference helps a bit to react + combo breakers. 3rd Strike lived off cheap dashes so cheap dashes aren’t really a problem for me. Have played lots of KOF and anime also so dont really mind sudden forward movements.
Local Tekken tourney in a week. Attendance seems very good, except most of the best players aren’t showing up, allegedly because the venue we’re using has a five euro membership fee, “which we didn’t use to have back in the day so get off my lawn”.

Good news is, if the veterans don’t get their asses in gear I’m almost guaranteed to get top 3. Bragging rights yooo (and trash-talk rights if anyone who didn’t show challenge my bragging rights).
I think G’s instant overhead only works on tall characters like G himself, Abigail, Urien and Sagat.
Also, Makoto already has a great backstory: she runs her father’s dojo, she searches money to keep the dojo going, she punches people violently in the dick to acquire said money. What’s not to love?
