How’s the difficulty for FE: 3 Houses??
This is a Yes/No things because 1 person like Ben tells me I’m doing okay then the next person says I’m a mess. You probably were watching replays of me at my most tilted. I was really really frustrated with my performance and was just doing stuff because fuck anyone that gets in my way when I’m mad. I can play patient and I can not press buttons. I can take 50 throws and I can stay put and wait for an opening. But the mental stress of being able to do that for more than 50 matches gets to me and I crack because some annoying trog Ken player says fuck it and just ruins it all for me. Granted that’s my fault for not being mentally capable and yes there’s still plenty to work on in my neutral. I still don’t really get ground game all to much. Being able to land a hit is usually the easy part but I still don’t really get it. Even after all this time the idea of having good ground game is foreign to me. When I play people that like to play my game it’s easy for Kolin to shine. When people start using their options then I get all screwed up. Allot of my wins from that point are based on the player fucking their own shit up rather than me deconstructing their play style and beating them. Then there’s also the fact that I don’t feel like I have enough compelling reasons to lab stuff because so many of the moments that I run into feel like “oh that’s annoying, oh well on to the next match”. I don’t have allot moments where something just fucks me up to where I’m like " Jesus if I don’t lab this I’m gonna hate myself later". Plus even when I lose to dumb shit I’m so disgusted with myself to even look at my loss because I know I might not see what I need to see when I’m mad. Then by the time I cool off I’m just not interested in looking into it. All of these are personal problems and I know it sounds bitch made. When the game was new and I was trying to get my bearings I liked going into the lab because I was literally learning how to survive. Now I feel like I getting be a mad scientist just to get a 10 game streak. I wish I had a bigger drive to be that guy but I don’t know. I just want to play and shit. Again What you said is all correct and yes I’m being a little bitch . Just how I fee lately.
Also… because this game is my wife I’ll never leave her… our bond is too strong no matter how many L’s I take.

Not anymore honestly. What helped the earlier gens were that, though there were definite choke points you could still mostly tackle the Regions in a very loose order with damn near anything you wanted but with legitimate commitment required due to how TMs worked. It really felt like you made your own experience and story out of the game.
Now Pokemon is EXTREMELY linear and on rails. Forget the ease of the game, the fact that it’s easy to grind means you can make it as easy or as hard as you wish (just the case with most JRPGs in general, let alone this series). But you have to go down a very specific path, now inundated with cutscenes and tutorials, while a ton of Pokemon now are just given to you for free usually with a lot of power attached. Now the games are forcing a certain experience onto you rather than making it ourselves. It honestly feels like the games aren’t fun anymore until the Post-Game.
I haven’t played a game in a minute, but I did use the Showdown simulator for comp battles. I fell off the series for real when the passed 700 pokes.
I’m playing on normal.
So far its average, it’s not hard by any stretch, but not so easy that you can afford to fuck up all the time.
That said, the game leans real hard into the RPG stuff, so it could be that you can start to “outlevel” the game eventually.
They brought back the time rewinds from Valentia, which is a great feature for this series.
I’ve heard hard mode packs a whallop though.
Maybe you don’t have to play 50+ matches in a single session every time?
That shit riles me up. I was just walking to a center yesterday and fucking Hau shows up and yeets me into a 10-minute tutorial about some Festival Plaza jank.
Hol up, isn’t Normal the actual easy mode or was that only in Radiant Dawn?
Speaking of Three Houses tho a chick just stabs some dude on the neck in the middle of a battlefield after clocking him on the face. Shit was so brutal everyone in-cutscene stopped to watch.
That and the Prologue chapter are all I’ve seen from the game. 3H is probably the best FE so far tho. (Though RD might still be better.)
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn is the most difficult strategy rpg ever made lol. But it was super fun!!!
My favourite fire emblem is still path of radiance though!
shrug I don’t usually have the patience to play the whole of a FE game on hard. I enjoy the well enough on normal.
There is a casual mode too which turns off permadeath.
Also radiant dawn and PoR are super hard.
Edit: regarding the writing. So far the writing and characters are well done. Not all amazing, but probably the best for the series.
I picked yellow deer because they aren’t all a bunch of fucking royalty.

I am gonna hate to hear Ono shill this free trial shit at EVO.
Is this a sign of things to come for EVO?
The new games have been stale for a grip my man. Not even trying to be some old man yelling at the clouds but Pokemon should have evolved like 4 generations ago. The last really cool thing a Pokemon Gen introduced was double battles. And that was during the GBA era. Allot of the new shit like Dynamax and Mega-Forms is just fluff and nothing more. No continuity, no pay offs for investing years into the franchise. Shit being taken out that was solid and replaced with new shit no one wants. Ugly as shit new Pokemon because fuck design. The only reason Pokemon is still going is because Pokemon is the SF of monster collecting and most Pokemon fans are fucking drooling fools.
@Akhos Yeah I have a backlog too. I actually held off starting some RPGs last weekend because I knew I’d just drop them for 3 Houses when it came out.
Granted one of those games is SO5 which I’ve heard is mediocre at best so may have been good to have an excuse to jump off it.
The other thing I like about 3 Houses is I can see it being a great travel game. So an easy recommend before the EVO trip.
@FlyingVe Yeah I’ve got a Switch. Feel free to send me a friend code. I don’t know that I’ve ever done any of the friend stuff on a Nintendo console (I dropped off during the Wii/Dark Wii eras).
Normal difficulty seems fine so far. Like you said it isn’t too tricky but you do still need to keep your eyes open or else you can get bopped. I think it is likely that eventually units will hit God level and start storming across the field with abandon but I don’t mind that. Those tend to by my favorite parts of the game.
Also playing the game on Casual because deep at heart I am a huge Shining Force fan and just play FE games because we are never getting a real Shining Force sequel. Casual mode and no weapon triangle get me as close as I’m gonna get with this game.
Same as you, I know there is much loved in that series but I am also one of those that never into it. Cause im not into cute things as competive game.
As for EVO im just expecting a spiritual successor of a series and possibly SFV dlc but not in a realistic sense.
Dude have you completed Dragon Quest XI? It is so good!!!
Make sure to complete the game fully!!
I killed the real last boss in 4 hits lol.
Thought of Cipher when I watched this.
Heh, it’s fine, it was a legit question.
But yeah, RD was tough af. Especially the Dawn Brigade chapters in Part 3. Gotta have the strategy and defense on point in those chapters because realistically they got no business tryna deal with Ike and the mercs.
I really should replay that one, but Fates kinda burned me out on the series with how bad it was.
I’ll give it a listen, but I thought of a cool idea a while for articles called “Why you should play _____” and all it does is discuss mechanics, characters and generally highlight whats cool and/or people enjoy about any one game.
There’s a million fighting games. Most people just need an intro or just to be made aware that series exists.
Nah pokemon desperately needs innovation but Mega evos and Alolan forms are cool ass ideas. Alternate forms of already existing pokemom allows the pool to expand without them creating 100% new pokemon, which isn’t a bad thing when we are what…over 1000 now? Same thing could be said for megas. They breath new life into old designs so Gamefreak doesn’t have to churn out 100+ new bodies every gen.
What i don’t like is them dropping these good ideas after one gen. Also i would kill for some real freedom in these games. I like the base experience but having played since Yellow I’d like to be able to experience the pokemon world without rails.
