The thing is that the team in question has made a conscious decision their team be professionals (i.e. salaried) rather than sponsored amateurs. A lot of other sponsors tend to not have salaries but only pay for expenses as long as they’re not an actual employer, and that’s still perfectly legal here.
There MIGHT be provisions in EU law that would require sponsored team members to be salaried, and that this would apply to actual EU countries, but I somehow doubt it considering Norwegian labour laws tend to be more strict than EU ones.
There’s gotta be an age difference between the people who think its a job and thise that dont. Either way all the eSporty shit scrambled a hell of a lot of brains. Got people thinking being a “fgc pro” is a profession in and of itself.
Oh now everyone wants to be in the SFL? It was getting hated on hard, but I guess a certain group of people made it pretty cool?
Toi, punk and Broly legs to an extent should be getting a check.
Coolkid isn’t wrong, but SFL is a popularity contest. Sherry is popular, she might not be the top or even high tier player but she’s marketable, travels, loves SF and sells just enough “sex appeal”
coolkid has to realize he’s black and he’s with a black woman and she falls into the “typical” black woman stereotype in a lot of peoples eyes.
She also annoys alot of people and by proxy people are going to dislike him instead of her because that’s his woman.
He’s not wrong with alot of his assessments its just, his lady doesn’t help his case in most situations.
Whatever those strict Norwegian labor laws may be, I praise the Lord Satan every day for them. I do some translation work for a couple of Norwegian agencies, and they pay extremely well compared to businesses in EU countries.
Id like anyone to chase their dreams , just don’t go pissing away your life for $4000 prize money and a couple of glass trophy’s.
You know what though, I went travelling for 6 years through the world, best time of my life. A young lad these days could combine the two. Take 2-3 years out, see the world , make friends , compete. I’d encourage even my own son to do something like that.
Just make sure you’re not 38 working in Wendy’s looking for the fight money at the 20 man local.
RIP to that guy who got heat stroke. Can’t talk about anywhere else but here it’s been dangerously hot every day for a month. At the end of heat wave 3 or 4 today. I got sunburned the other day playing basketball for just an hour.
I was in that room for Samurai Shodown and most of he said here is true.
Space was definitely an issue. DBZ was on the right side of the room while Sam Sho was on the left. Moving around in there was a struggle. Admittedly, I didn’t notice the heat that much. I prioritize staying hydrated than being cool when I’m hot.
Delays were huge. I went to the room 30 minutes before the sam sho tournament was scheduled to start and the stations weren’t even there. Most of us who were there for sam sho didn’t get the chance to do casuals. Tournament started 15 minutes late and I only got to get a handful of matches in before tournament proper started
One of the stations needed a disc and that slowed things down as staff was scrambling who had a disc to make the station usable.
I didn’t pay much attention to the streaming. For Sam Sho at least most of pool 1 had the stream with select matches from other pools that had well known and popular players having their matches on the streaming station. Not much for me to add here.
I can vouch for no sound on the setups. There was one station that indeed have lag.
Drinking policy wasn’t an issue for me. There was a water dispenser at the corner of the room near the entrance and I snuck in an ice tea I brought from the local 7/11.
I don’t know if I can speak about bad seed. Ricki Ortiz didn’t want to play her matches. Ricki kept going in and out of the room. Probably couldn’t stand the heat. At least one guy waited over an hour to get his first match because his opponent was busy playing another game. I got a few byes due to people not being aware they were called.
When it came to organization MK11 was the best one. It was still chaotic but they had their shit together.
