You say that but this game has been largely dominated by legacy talent.
Skills is skills. Have them or develop them, they always transfer over.

Sfv is super easy
But mostly older gen is winning SFV…
Yeah and look how many dudes are still dossing about in Super Silver. Thats the point.
Also although I believe in “Legacy Skills” lets not pretend that sitting on your ass all day playing full time FG’s AND getting paid for it isn’t going to make you super good. Pro’s continue to be Pro’s because that’s all they do and the cycle repeats.
But how much of the older gen was sloughed off by SFV? SFV dropping was the Thanos of the FGC.
You can make a game easy to any degree and the people who would think they’d be better if the game got easier would still be super silver. It’s not the game, it’s usually their mental and ability to think independently during a match.
SFV already diluted the mechanical aspect AND the amount of options present in the mental game. You can’t make the game much easier outside of one button specials and auto combos.
Don’t give them any ideas.
Flappy Fighter is the most exciting FG of the last few years.
What does that have to do with anything? Maybe they just don’t like the game.
I see the same peeps in top 8 SFV that I saw in IV. Of course there are newcomers and some don’t play anymore, but that’s the nature of any new title in a fighting game series.
All this bitching bout legacy skills not holding weight or old heads leaving is pathetic ass salt.
You still get to the top the same way you did in previous titles. Grind and git gud.
Everything else is weak sauce excuses.
The things that SFV asks you to be good at simply aren’t as interesting. What makes a fighting game interesting is how complex the back and fore interactions it facilitates between two players is. SFV leans so heavily on frame / situation knowledge and raw reactions that it’s put people off. It’s just not an engaging thing to grind away at recognising and reacting to frame setups and dash ins or jump ins from certain angles etc.
This is the most hilarious complaint I’ll ever read coming from an Abigail player.
I feel hella jebaited right now.
Hey, if I wanna play SFV, I have to play SFV.
That’s legit your opinion.
I didn’t find 1 frame links, vortex, red focus or anything in IV interesting or engaging. In fact, I hated SIV. Sure SFVhas it’s share of dumb, but I enjoy it more than I ever did the previous title.
Peeps gravitate towards different things. Either adapt or drop it and go play what you like.
It’s not my opinion. It’s the opinion of a lot of people. It’s a common, common complaint with SFV.
A lot of people who share your opinion don’t speak for everyone that plays SFV. There are plenty of people that prefer V over IV and vice versa. Some find V engaging and thought IV was trash and again vice versa.
Play what you like. I’ll shit on SFV till they drop VI, but thank god it ain’t the piece of shit IV was.
SFV leans so heavily on frame / situation knowledge and raw reactions that it’s put people off.
Also this. We really rocking those nostalgia goggles like vortex nonsense and 1frame links didn’t do the same thing?
We can talk about the level of enthusiasm around SFV compared to SFIV and all the reasons why it seems a lot lower, but it’s lower. The audience that SFV is supposed to appeal to likes it less than they did SFIV.
You can roll out the old meme about how everyone looks back at older games more fondly, but I don’t need census data to know that SFV basically fractured my scene. Nobody I know is anywhere nearly as into SFV as they were SFIV, even with all of IV’s problems.
Want to know why? Because in SFIV, if you stick out a low forward, you can sweep punish it.
At this point you should more or less know a lot of the more common stuff already. There’s so much universal stuff to dealing with a lot of character that its almost like there’s no excuse.
Cammy is always going to have a meaty after 1 following HK spiral, Gief only gets real oki from HP and EX piledrivers, If non-VT necalli knocks you down midscreen, just back roll and laugh etc.
After that things get wacky because it turns into a game of doing imperfect stuff to mess with people.
Gief gets oki from Lariat.
