Makes sense that means it’s definitely old people who don’t give a shit about netcode who just don’t go to shit either. If they’ve been playing during the times where the netcode for their games were garbage and during the 3D garbage era of MK. Sounds bad.
What’s fucked is that the actual people who are going to tournaments skews incredibly young; most of the top top players are still in teens or barely past twenty. Its just the mentality was formed by crusty old fucks like Tom Brady and then you have like Perfect Legend, who couldn’t be a bigger elitist wrt locals and actually playing in anything that isn’t like Evo, and when that influence is all you have, it’s no good
That’s really funny because they went on about how it’s supposed to be very neutral based and there was no one as bat shit insane as Batgirl for Sonicfox to abuse. I guess maybe you do need a Batgirl to spice things up.
Like I said the last time I watched a streamer stream IJ2 the first thing I heard him discussing was why more people play SF LOL.
I’ve been hoping it does since MK9. Sucks that they have some hard working community members in a bunch of different areas and the numbers dont reflect it. Worst part is that it turns into a negative feedback loop: “i dont wanna go because people dont show up -> numbers are small, go back to square one.”
They get eLeague and all sorts of stuff, you habe EvilCanadian and Hippo taking it in the chin and dudes just bleh it. Kind of frustraring to see o the TO end.
I mean you could look at any of the stuff I posted and see that I think it’s a tremendous problem, but why do that?
The Pro Tour also sucked shit and I had a big write-up about that that got ESL folks nice and butthurt.
I’m certain if they made MVCI an official game at FR it’d have more entrants.
Young players are always a good sign. They will eventually be the new scene.
There have been signs of life, but like I said, it’s the influence that sucks, because young people are very easily influenced by the more popular folks. As those guys kinda go away and have less relevance its been getting better but the habits are the issue, which is why I try to point them out because idk if people even realize they do it.
By any measure, that whole drama with the Summit was absolutely embarrassing and shows why people will never want anything to do with the community
Always with the assumptions. I’ve read a fair amount of your stuff already. I also remember slme of the NRS scene shenanigans throught out the years (notable players, no actual community).
Doesnt change the fact that 17 people is lamentable. Doesnt change the fact that the scene has some really passionate people in it either.
Then don’t tell me I take it on the chin, that’s silly. I’m not a goose-stepping stan who doesn’t think the scene has massive flaws, I speak up for the games because I think they’re good and it’s unfortunate that people who like them also are so self destructive.
As someone who isn’t a big NRS fan at all and could care less what happens to their games, I do feel for people who have passion in something but can’t carry it because of the environment.
See, its funny how DJ understood what I meant and you reacted like a pearl clutching bitch.
Kermit sipping too much damn tea.
Well it’s Japan sooooo
Have you read Bea’s posts? Pretty sure she’d commission one of Zangief hitting Falke with shooting peach while wearing a hello kitty dress.
…
That is a lovely idea that will go with the Gief knitting one.
I read “take in on the chin” in a different way, and now that I understand the context, I see that it was not meant as an insult, and for that, my bad. I do tend to get carried away.
Anyways, in some actual cool shit, GDC posted a video from last year that had technicians from NRS explain what it took and how they implemented their rollback netcode. Long watch, but very cool stuff.
Anyone up for games in 30 mins or so?
I need something to take my mind off this searing neck pain. The pain of SFV online should suffice.
They’re both strange and immoral
