I’m hyped for Guile the most, fuck what y’all talkin bout. I need my Ryu/Chun counter!

You need a Ryu/Chun counter?
Tried Cammy?
I wonder what they will do with Guile, if they stay him like he was 2 moves, no risk no fun, I will not even look at him.
He’s the only blonde fighter left, of course he’s next. Hell they may give Boxer/Balrog a Simon Phoenix redesign to fit in with the rest of the cast

my understanding is that sprite-based games are more resource intensive than 3d model-based games

capcom, please.
You are correct. Sprites actually take more time and effort than 3D models.
They’re also completely unnecessary because any 2D art style can be simulated with 3D models these days.
Any 2D anime fighting game that is coming out now that ISN’T doing what GGXrd did is fucking up. I’m looking at you KoF14.
SNK is too broke to do the Xrd style for the game, it costs a fuckton of money

they got bought by Leyou Millenium so thats no real excuse.
beside of that, do you have any source that it coste a fuckton of moneyto create something in a similar style?
You speak the truth. I was 100% expecting SFV to do that style. It’s the future. I was sold on XRD just because of how the game looked. Ive barely even played it because I sadly dont have the time to learn it…but they still got my money just on that alone.
Bit of a newb here, but how was GGXrd made? Was it 3D, but made to look like a 2D-anime style?
Also, I was unaware that sprite-based games took longer, but I guess if you were to make the analogy of a 3D Pixar movie to a more traditional 2D hand-drawn Disney movie, it makes sense.

I’d like to see Poison with a new default costume and Sakura too.
ArcSys isn’t exactly rich either. They are a niche game developer. Xrd is using UE3. That engine is 10 years old.

1- Yes 3D with a filter called cell-shading, iirc was Sega with Jet Se Radio the first to use it
1- Think like that.
Do one sprite take less than a create a 3D model, but once you done a 3D model you got it and you can give him 999 movements, you have “just” to animate it.
With sprites every single new thing must be redesigned from zero, let’s say you want do 5 moves, each have to be designed from zero and each will require to design x number of new frames
Also for alt costumes ($$$ for them) 3D is infinitely easier
Last but not last ma$$ market love 3D stuff, 2D is a niche thing
Yeah, that all makes sense. Thanks for clarifying all that.
Also, I’ve dabbled in 3D graphics before, so fully aware of cell shading and how it works.
Actually, from a programming standpoint, it’s a pretty darn easy effect to create.
April Fools guys, there is no April dlc character.

i wonder how many of these ALTS rashid will get…
All very cool alts for Rashid. Hope to see them all.
In general, I feel like we always see these really awesome concept sketches by the Capcom artists, but most of the good ones never make it into the game.
I wonder where the breakdown is.

Man, all of those are x∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞ times better than the shitty Aladdin costume he has now. Seriously capcom, the fuck?! /rant.
Anyways, pardon me but is it ***confirmed ***that we’re getting a character in April? I’m pretty forgetful … .-.

well i have hope since Laura’s made it in…
Pretty much. If you want to know more. The the artist for the game did an entire GDC panel describing it.
We got Alex in March
Then we’re getting one in April
Then one in May
Then in July
Then in August
and finally in September
As it stands right now, October-December period is completely free of any sort of content updates for the game, unless Capcom announces something in addition to what’s coming already
