You know what, everyone is guessing Sakura or Karin at this point, but there is another highly popular Japanese character they could reveal at TGS:

Akuma.

He would even fill the spot of a returning “classic” character. And if you take a look at the percentage of females in past SF games, it was always around 20-25%. With Laura coming as a new character we already have 4 females which is 25% of a 16 character roster.

But I do hope that I am wrong. I personally only main female characters and want to have as many as possible. I’m still hoping for my girl Juri (chances are slim tho) but I would be also very happy with a Karin reveal, because I like her character design, attitude and gameplay.

God I hope not. I would hate for there to be a 3rd shoto in the 16 initial roster. Give it to a character with a more distinct moveset like Gief, Guile. Hell, I’d take Dhalsim over Akuma.

True but if they were really going this way they would have revealed El Fuerte instead of R.Mika for example. They need popular characters in the initial roster as well in order to get a good selling product.

I got a vibe from the WSO stream that they kinda knew who’s coming in TGS and it might be Dhalsim. This is 120% speculation lol.

I got hinted by one of the guys working for the Brazil CPT event and the brazilian character is very likely a jiu jitsu fighter indeed. Two female grapplers?

I heard it too and got the same vibe. Sounds like one of Sagat/Guile/Dhalsim will be in and will be a very strong zoner.

I’ve been thinking this also - because Rashid’s V-Trigger is pretty similar to aegis reflector, if Urien is in the game, will the utility of aegis reflector change completely? You could make it a special move that works like a zoning shield rather than a super used to create mixups. I could imagine it being a bit like Sub Zero’s ice clone move.

After watching the Rashid gameplay, I think a better comparison to his v-trigger is Decapre’s and Dhalsim’s ultra. It pales in comparison to Aegis.

Once it’s out you may be able to do one mix up, but it lasts very little after being blocked, to the point it’s probably better than the opponent doesn’t block it and you sit on top of it so it will cover your unsafe moves (sort of like rose orbs). Likewise a good player will simply walk into that v-trigger and block to prevent you from doing mixups.

The recovery was too long for you to get mixups going immediately after activating it (you can see this in the trailer as well, where ryu could have obviously blocked after the crossup divekick mixup), so you need some good setups or just use it to pin the opponent down in the corner for instance.

Looking at this weaker version, I’m not sure Aegis would work the same as in 3S.

Basically it looks like you use it when the opponent is relatively close to the corner so they have to take the high/low mixup. They guess wrong, that move combos into the tornado and then you can combo out of it. Midscreen you have to be kind of close to them so they don’t hit you out of it, but the boost from moving through the tornado should assist in catching anyone jumping away from it
