SFV Character Request/Anticipation Thread

Normally I’m admittedly pretty sensitive to criticism, but DarthEnder has the most narrow minded criteria so I was expecting that lol

Yet we still need Twelve in prior games as illuminati representative of successful army shapeshifting assassins which better probably than any Shadaloo Dolls as of now with the exemption of Cammy.

So them(Twelve or Eleven) as a mirroring character or a advance version of random select is a best solution to complement to Twelve’s existence and relevance in future games which is also inevitable.

The series’ internal logic is what Capcom decides it should be, and it took a leap from SF1 to SF2, and another to SF3. After Psychic Nazis, 1-Hit-Kill Angry trolls, Stretchy Yogis, and Monitor Cyborg soldiers that mimic fighters - you have a problem with Twelve - another genetically modified supersoldier (a recurring concept in the series and its expanded universe)?

If you anything, GILL was the one that broke the series’ in SF3 NOT Twelve.

But that’s besides the point, Twelve and his ilk have been in the series for 20-fucking-years. For someone so anal about being completist how are you having trouble with this? Just DEAL WITH IT.

One way or another Twelve, or even Thirteen will come back in SF. It’s only a matter of time.

That’s the thing though, if the “internal logic” is constantly changing, than it’s not actually a logic at all. You can’t apply logic to a reality where the rules are constantly in flux.

I had a problem with the psychic Nazis, Yogis and cyborgs(not sure who the angry troll is) when they were introduced as well.

I am. By bitching about it on the internet.

Agree thats why Capcom should have guidelines on direction for writers and artist because even well known and skilled artist without proper guidelines can alienate the franchise by it’s preference.

Internal logic isn’t static, it changes based on the IP owner’s will. There is nothing in SF2 that would suggest that the existence of Twelve would contradict the universe’s internal logic.

In terms of character design and all that I’m indifferent to Twelve and Eleven. But gameplay wise, twelve was so unique and fun, and I feel like Eleven could offer fun gameplay as well. Replace twelve and eleven with whoever you want, I just want an air dasher and a trap zoner.

EXACTLY.

The idea of a shapeshifting character like Twelve opens up crazy gameplay possibilities on top of the possible eye candy. Some people here anticipate character concepts/stereotypes but have zero regard for the fun and unique gameplay they bring to the table.

Twelve looked and felt fun to play. Whether you agree or disagree with the appearance and lore of the character is irrelevant. This is a game first and foremost.

Everybody just chill and give me Gouken.

I would very much like season 3 to be something like

Sakura
Cody
Makoto
Eagle
Sagat
Fei Long

I’d love to play each of those, liked them all except Sakura.

Accepting that sakura is something that can’t be avoided, that’s pretty much a perfect list, in particular the 4 males

Makoto i will be ok with it but don’t think will make it in S3 with Sakura locked in… like 2 female slots, i don’t think they will do
jap school karate girl
jap karategi karate girl

I think characters like Rose/Elena/Viper have better chance due visual variety (and i will buy Makoto any day over Viper)

I’m thinking an huge difference like Kolin/Menat if they want something like that i can see them pick Rose as she’s probably the most different from Sakura

What’s the deal with Cody anyway?
Honest to god I didn’t realize he was Cody from final fight when I was a kid playing alpha, nor had I realized Guy was. I only realized those things once I joined here, so a few months ago at the tender age of 31. Said that I finally understand the Super Cody had in alpha, (punch punch punch turn thing)
I don’t get what people like about him? was he particularly fun in SF4? From what I remember of Alpha I enjoyed playing Guy, but Cody was broing.

for what’s matter, fun wise Cody was my fav character back to SF4… while for variety reasons there are char i will like to see in SFV (Sagat, Fei etc), if you ask me wich char i will like see return as straight tastes i will tell you Cody for sure

Heavy hitter, cool specials, nice normals, some gimmicks, fun combos and i liked both ultras
Plus overall i like the whole vibe of the bored apathetic brawler that punch hard af
And he’s Cody from FF

Also i think he got a lot of fun potential with V mechanics

Just resurrect his true FF design as story alt pls

Did it play anything like Alpha/Zero? at this point I’d just ask since I am never gonna play SF4.

Did’nt played him in SFA3, but here:

Yep. Characters are just functions. Everyone agrees with that sentiment…

You are missing the point. Characters are style, personality, lore, AND functions. You can’t have one without the other. Twelve brings to the table his own flavor of each, but his functionality is most unique.

I played both Cody in Alpha, 4 and even in IOS, not a fan of his character but I must admit I like the way he plays especially the knife thing for the retrospect. I’m more a Haggar and Guy in Final Fight series.

My problem with Twelve is’nt that he does’nt fit SF universe, my problem with him is that character and design wise he’s weak af concept, regarless of how visually fun some of his animations are

I’m not a great fan of the “lab freak” archeype, but at least i want they attach some character to it… Necro is a good example, Seth on paper was decent when was supposed to wear clothes and acted more as a Boss/Bison wannabe ad less as a rubber naked lab experiment in a crumbling lab

These got some charisma, Twelve feel -purposely- like a generic mass enemy, borderline NPC

Give me a better designed char that incorporate some good gameplay elements of him if needed, but i don’t feel the need of give a slot to Twelve when much stronger concepts are and will be left out

I only want Twelve back if he becomes something like the generic shadaloo soldiers in ASF.

Dude is just a boring visual design. His strongest asset is becoming another (better) character.
