SFIV in Tacoma now!

Good games last night fellas. As always, MONDAY NIGHT FIGHTS IS ON THAT HYPE SHIT!

I’d like to give a shout out to Josh and Jacob for finally showing up. Good shit gentlemen! Hope to see you guys more often.

I will be uploading videos from last night, next time I’ll definitely record other matches because the majority of the matches recorded last night were of me. I’m also thinking of heading back to Narrows, maybe tomorrow night or something like that. We’ll see.

word up bro, it was a pleasure! i’ll try to get out there alteast maybe 2-3 times a month. my car has bomb gas mileage (35mpg IN CITY) so the trip isnt that hard on me, just having to stay at home til about 630-700pm so i dont get stuck in traffic makes me sleepy and i work two jobs so mondays are usually my rest days. maybe ill set an alarm up hahaha in the 4 games i played, it seemed that i was getting the hang of the game progressively  cant stop hyping that game!!

If Acme Bowl had SF4 I would go there no less than 5 times a week.

Yeah SF4 at Acme bowl would be pretty tight, less money spent on gas. MORE MONIES SPENT ON SF4 =. any idea on how late they stay open?

We would love to have at a setup at Acme. However, this game was sold on a preorder basis, and from what I am hearing, no more are available. But Blazblue will be at Acme mid November, as well as an old gay ass SC3.
Does anyone know who at Narrows frowned on a tripod being used to help film matches? I want to pursue this problem ASAP.

I have no idea, I’m just going off of what Trace is saying. But yeah if we can actually get a tripod in there and record some more matches that would be too sick.

Aww, no chance of moving SF4 to Acme? With BlazBlue AND SF4, that place would be jumping non-stop.

About filming, one of the managers, I don’t know who, told one of the guys working the front to tell us to stop, saying there was a “no filming” policy in the arcade. I can’t think of a reason for having this policy, especially when the camera was positioned such that only the screen was being filmed. Hope you can work something out with them, all it does is further get the word out that Narrows as SF4, bringing more business, blah, blah, blah.

So Narrows owners also own Acme?

If so please put SF4 on a flatbed truck and put it at Acme STAT cus we would all play it a lot more at southcenter than Taomca (except for like, 3 people that actually live in tacoma).

Yeah SFIV at Acme and please believe I would be there everyday after work. It would be a 5 min commute. The novelty of SFIV will wear out eventually. $15 of gas for the Tacoma drive is pushing it for a lot of people.

To all who showed up, good games guys, I didn’t have to much fun playing but I had a lot of fun kicking it with everyone and watching people’s matches. Mandel, I’m gonna have to start getting you more my dude! You were hitting wins from people and probably raked in a good 40 bucks from people…good shit!

I didn’t realize Narrows owned Acme bowl too. Wow if SF4 would be at Acme Bowl, I’d be there a HELL of ALOT more compared to over at Narrows right now. It’d be cool to play BlazBlue too…the combination of those two games in ONE arcade? The two newest and hottest games in a single building!? They would be having trouble getting people out.

I also wanted to bring up an issue that people are talking a lot about recently…the sticks. I can only speak for myself (chip in peeps that are having the same issues) that my execution/combo ability is brought down heavily because of these sub’par sticks. The sticks are playable however, not at a real competitive stand point. I’ve actually been on one of the sticks while it completely broke on me (my character would just keep walking without me telling it). And I’ve also heard a few other occasions where the stick’s have needed fixing just to be able to play.

Which brings me to the main reason why I wanted to post. If a tournament is to be run at the arcade with these sticks, I’m realllllyyyy afraid that the sticks will just break on me. One of the first rules to running a tournament is to know that you’re arcade has got reliable sticks. It would be a REAL disapointment for me to tell everyone to wait for an hour or two before we can play again because the stick had gone bad.

All in all, I feel as if something needs to be done with the sticks. From what I’ve seen, and even first hand experienced, the are not reliable enough right now. I just feel as if my skill is a lot more limited.

I brought a tripod on my last visit to Narrows and while playing a match, one of the desk people asked that I stop filming matches, so I did.

Narrows has their reasons to not allow filming but it seems that they don’t really understand the nature of competitive gaming (besides bowling).

On each and every visit, I spend no less than $50 at the place on food, drinks and games (not including any gas fees).

I just might have to change my youtube video titles to something like “SF4 @ some place in the NW” if this doesn’t get changed.

Anyways, good games to Trace (your Sagat is pretty good). Might’ve been a good thing that less people showed that day since the sticks on player 2 was bad that day for about 1/2 the time we were there.

No point changing your movie titles - there’s no way they’ll be able to connect your face to your videos, or HUNT YOU DOWN for uploading them.

If it were me, I’d probably put something like “Why does Narrows have a policy against taking pictures inside? It is a great deterrent for me and my friends to spend our time there” in the movie description, instead.

By mentioning Narrow’s, I’m doing free advertising for the facility. A random person in Tacoma could look for SF4 videos on youtube not knowing that their local bowling alley has the game. They see my video and its description and just like this snaps finger that same person is already at Narrows playing the game.

I’m all for supporting SF4 in the NW, but as it stands, Narrow’s “no video” policy simply sucks. This reminds me of a time where you have to remember all the strats, combos etc etc. A time before… Youtube!

If Narrows would allow people to record and ask for people to not put their videos into youtube, I’m fine with that.

I’ve recorded most of the EVO 08 finals matches, but none of those will make it onto youtube as per Mr.Wizard’s request.

Okay, I spoke with one of the managers last night, and they cannot figure out who ordered the video policy. I will double check with the higher powers today, but looks like filming is going to be okay.
As to the sticks, we have spares, and spare parts. Just call our service number posted on the machine when they have issues, and our tech’s will be right out. You can phone us yourself, rather than having to relay the message through the counter person.

Narrows does not “own” Acme. We are the arcade vendor for both places, as well as around 100 other places in the area.

Are you guys hiring? I am looking for a new job and I am pretty good with sticks and repairs.

You know what else is in Tacoma right now?

My scrub ass 4 day old Cappa-donna Viper!!!

my best friend’s ex/babymama is in Lakewood now…go figure.

You have any contact info for this “woman”?

I just got out of class and am bored.
