Hey ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry that I can’t make this thread in the SFIV discussion section but since I have less than 50 posts the forum prevents me from making a thread there so I was hoping the mods could possibly move this or that individuals that play SFIV help me out right here…
Yesterday when I turned on my Xbox 360, all my data failed to come up. All the characters, titles, icons and BP were nowhere to be seen. Although my championship mode statistics are still there…when I checked my memory I still had numerous saved files…
What’s the deal?
I’ll appreciate it the help.
It sounds like your data has become corrupted. It happened to at least one other person too… there’s a thread about it here but I haven’t followed it at all. In any case, it’s not at all a common occurence.
The most likely cause is that you inadvertently powered off your console while it was trying to save something. It does this (and warns you with that tiny message flashing in the bottom right of the screen) basically every time you switch to a different menu screen. Quite honestly, this is the reason you should be hoping for; otherwise, it may mean yo’ Xbox is on its way to the friiitz.
If you’re particularly worried, you could try briefly checking the integrity of other stuff on the hard drive…see if it will properly recognize/load your saves for other (disc) games if you own any, see if any (already-downloaded) XBLA games will start up, check to see if a couple of music or video files will play, whatever. You could also try unlocking something really quick in SF4 and see if it actually does save it in this new data file. There are no guarantees this will catch it if there really is a hardware problem but I think the odds are in your favour that it would. I don’t think hard drive failure is among the list of usual 360 malfunctions, but I suppose there’s no good reason why your Xbox couldn’t be special in its very own unique way.
Do you recall it asking you about creating a new set of data or something when you started it up (like you were playing for the very first time), or did it just happily load a whole bunch of nothing?
Hey deadfrog, thanks for the reply.
All my other games seem to load data just fine, along with my achievements. It didn’t ask me to save a new file, it just brought up my championship mode statistics and failed to recognize all my other data, like achievements, characters, icons and titles.
What I do recall though is that when I turned it on I got a message concerning the update information, I didn’t read it since I just considered it some form of mini-note referring to getting the “Power Pack”.
I think it may have been that I turned off the Xbox at the wrong time…
you can’t make threads on sfiv discussion if you don’t have a certain number of post?! lol
mods are having a hard time
sorry to bump this old thread, but i myself was having a problem with data being corrupted.
The thing is, today i bought me a new xbox360, since my old one crapped out on me after like 3-4 years. Well ive been playing street fighter 4 aswell as other games on my nephews xbox360 with my harddrive in his xbox360. Well when i came home, i got my xbox360 all set up, turned it on, updated it, once it finished i turned it off, then put my harddrive in there and turned it back on. It reads my harddrive but it shows all the data is corrupted inside, my gamertag, and all my saved game data’s from all the games ive played in the last several years. Very angry, i went back got my nephew’s 360 hooked up my harddrive in his xbox turned it on, and everything is fine… i loged onto xboxlive with my gamertag… i loaded sf4 all my saved game data was fine and everything. Its just that when i plug my harddrive into my new xbox, everything is corrupted.
So what i did was i went back to nephew’s 360… he gots a small memory card. I moved my sf4 game saved data from my harddrive into his memory card. I go back and put my harddrive and his memory card in my new xbox, and it shows all the game data all corrupted aswell in his memory card, even shows several games that he had saved in his memory card corrupted aswell. Im not sure what to do cause i dont wanna lose everything lol… it sucks badly, i might just have to take back my xbox360… seems like everything gets corrupted when i put it on my xbox, when i switch back to my nephews… everything is fine and dandy…
