EX SBK range buffs are real. I was able to juggle Poison and Ryu from B+MK Target Combo to EX SBK, midscreen. Poison is actually not too difficult, but Ryu still require’s Chun to step forward a couple of frames to get in range. Very difficult, but something that she definitely could not do before. Other characters should be a bit easier. Liking this change.
Trading with df.lk still causes air reset, so no juggle opportunities are possible. I was having a hard time not trading against Dudley’s forward jump RH. That elbow is the bane of my existence. Well, cr.strong with possible super link is still good for it.
Also confirmed that U1 damage was nerfed only for juggle, and not against grounded targets.
Exceptions that to cr hp lk sbk that remain as-is:
Ryu, Ken, C. Viper*, Sakura, Rose
(*Full hits happen sometimes on Viper, but it’s highly touchy and unreliable.)
cr hp lk sbk that land 4/5 of the sbk hits, including the last one reliably:
Dan, Yun, Yang, Rolento
New cr hp lk sbk exceptions:
Elena, Decapre
New cl mp lk sbk exceptions:
Elena, Decapre
Here’s a video of me doing this in Chocolate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a--mGBV88TA
The description doesn’t mention Ryu, but I can confirm that it was possible to do it on Ryu in 2012 at least, I was practising it while Ultra was downloading. It may certainly be easier, and work on more characters in Ultra, but it’s not new.
More generally, I really like the df.lk, I did find the timing tighter, but it was working well on jumps ins that it could only trade with in 2012.
Played against all the new chars tonight. Only Hugo gave me a hard time oddly… Heh
Ultra is really fun! I wish we had more use for ex RFA. Only really used it off of hazanshu and threw it out after a frame trap cs.hk. Oh well. With U1 fixed I’m in heaven! Yeeey!
So vs poison, it seems some links after hazanshu don’t work. Against standing poison, cr.lk and cr.lp don’t link, but standing lp does link. And against crouching poison, only cr.lk links. Cr.mk doesn’t link at all, standing or crouching. Ex legs still links like usual though, except after lk and hk versions while she’s crouching.
Also, corner juggle ultra 1 drops on poison. It’s possible to get full animation on her, but it has to be done from max distance. And a few times, after getting full animation, poison landed on the other side of chun, leaving me in the corner instead of poison.
Use Level 1 Red Focus from HSU for an instant crumple, then you can go into anything you want. I’d suggest as a decent use of it to do cr.hp xx Hk Legs xx Mk Legs, crmk xx Mk HSU xx Red Focus dash forward into cr.hp xx Hk Legs xx Mk Legs, cr.Hp xx Hk Legs xx Mk Legs
the reset on the HSU means huge damage and obviously if you can’t loop the one rep is still great damage and builds that meter back up
^
Please keep that in mind, so you don’t end up wasting 3 bars in the situation where hasanshu is actually most likely to hit (as an overhead).
In light of this, I decided to test every single character with the Ultra 1 juggle (yet again, because Capcom can’t be trusted with this). After testing, I can say that fortunately she’s the only one who falls out like that. However, in addition to the method you mentioned, you can also get the full juggle to work on her if you hit her higher (like at the top of Chun’s Leg) with the Ultra. So yeah, Poison is the only one who is different from the rest of the cast… for some reason. 'Can’t quite put my finger on it >_>
Overall I like chuns buffs. I hate how lk sbk misses on some people though.
see sbk is just derp
I’ll try to post a video later, but you can hazanshu>red focus>ultra 1 full damage…I’ll keep you guys posted
It works on some characters. With Guile you can loop twice then cr.hp lk sbk. Nearly 300 damage and pushes him to the corner (which is how I approach that match)
idk you can fight guile midscreen just fine imo.
but thats the beauty of diversity i guess
I haven’t gotten the update yet :(. I have to wait just a tad bit longer. Hopefully I’ll get it sooner, no later a week or 2. Trying to take care of other things like transferring school apps & fees.
I want to learn & compete with her.
So playing with unblockables against Decapre. I know they are less potent because of dwu, but if they don’t use it:
Forward throw > dash forward > f.j.mk is unblockable against her (and Cammy still).
She has two options to punish. One is Super, but it burns all her meter for very little damage. The other is anti-ground Ultra 2, which hurts. Ultra 1 gets stuffed and anti-air ultra 2 whiffs and is punishable.
She has a few escape options as well. Back dash will cause Chun to whiff and land behind her, and she will back dash into you. Buffer OS forward throw for another unblockable attempt seems like a good idea, or OS U2 if you have it.
All versions of psycho sting will dodge the j.mk, but are easily punished.
Without meter, lk scramble will escape, but is susceptible to OS hsu/U2. However, she can further avoid the hsu by pressing any punch during scramble, and the U2 by pressing hp (this applies to her lk+mk ex scramble as well). Mk and hk scramble get stuffed.
With meter, lk+hk and mk+hk versions of ex scramble will escape, and she has options from those to punish OS hsu and U2. If you don’t OS, most or all of her ex scramble follow ups should be punishable or at least avoidable, causing her to burn meter in the process.
The unblockable doesn’t work in the corner either.
Overall I think it can be useful, but there’s still some risk and lots of guessing involved.
Yeah there’s dumb shit with hitboxes on the new chars, juri’s close mp going through crouching rolento too I think. Messed up.
yeah the first thing i did was the unblockable test on decapre. funny. The thing is Ex scrambles are not invul IIRC so try to use j.lk to tag them
I swear to Jesus I just did hazanshu xx EX RFA > Dash U1. But I can’t replicate it now. Has anyone tried??
Edit: Nvm, I did it. Just strict timing.
Have been playing Chun a bit, and I must say she feels like a much more complete character in Ultra.
Her health and EX fireball buff really help her out.
Still, already got poked out of EX SBK and Poison fell out of my U1 twice.
Ah thank you. I didn’t think to use j.lk, but it’s better cross up hit box should help. I’ll be testing with this soon.
I was having trouble with that too. It feels like level 1 ex rfa has the same hit stun as a level 2 fa, which makes the timing for follow up dash ultra very strict. I’m thinking I probably won’t bother with it at all, seeing how it is strict timing and only works on standing characters. For myself anyways, I feel like it will more often than not end up being a wasted 3 bars of meter. Ex rfa will be my focus for a while in the lab because right now I’m not really sold on it being useful in my game play.
