Abel is a U2 match for me.


With the possible exception of df+lk those proposed buffs are nice but won’t do much to help her really bad matches.

And Hasanshu is kind of difficult to use in high-level matches. I learned this fighting against Naruo earlier this month. He would only throw fireballs that were out of HSU range, or right in my face so I couldn’t react to them in time. I don’t even randomly HSU all that much, but I tried to do one during footsies and I ate U2 for my troubles. Like decent to really good players can reaction DP or whatever, but he just unleashed full U2. Ouch.

I still think it has uses as a low poke sniper and a throw mix-up, but it’s not quite as usable as you’d think. It’s really high risk/low to moderate reward. Which is why before EX armor breaking I really wanted all versions to have an extra frame of hitstun. Would make comboing from any HSU easier to give her better rewards from hitting it.

At any rate these are only the suggestions Combofiend is compiling from Unity. There’s still whatever the Japanese players suggested and whatever dev had in mind.


I’m going to Mix Up Night again tomorrow. The turnout for AE so far is kinda low but among the 6 players registered we’ve got Banbaban and Haitani.

So…I’m thinking of going U1 against Makoto. Punish for whiffed chops and hopefully a deterrent against FA and backdashes. Plus corner juggle. What does the Fellowship think?

Agreed. I think df+lk was a major game changer for Chun in Super. Obviously the devs thought it was way too op so they nerfed it but I think in the current meta she needs have a way to keep people on the ground in neutral play cause we all know nothing she has now will trade in her favor on a jump in. The gief matchup became a lot harder for one.

I still like U2 because you’ll end up using U2 way more in the offensive flow of the match vs waiting for a couple specific mistakes that once they make them once they’ll adapt. Can’t really adapt to getting hit by 2x cr.lk xx ex.ll other than dominating the footsie battle.

I never did see Chun U1 vs Makoto. If you can afford the gamble, try it out and tell us how it went

I use U1 against her for the punishes because they like to build meter like the twins do with palm before they come in and for the full juggle in the corner. Also the ground combo cl hk xx hk legs ~ mk legs -> U1 is easy enough on her so I just go for that if I feel I need to land it midscreen.

u2 give us a better punish agaisnt blocked ex hayate. Plus u2 can be used in OS agaisnt her with more success. OS u1 can be used againt her but ex karakusa beat that, but cant beat os u2

At 0:23, Chun sweeps, takes a tiny step forward and jumps in with headstomp > j.HP. Even if this is specific to Rufus, how hard is it to pull off? Does Rufus have to be standing for it to work?

its not hard. but is hella character specific and for the most part yes they need to be standing but thats not a problem really, you need to be standing in the first place to block the stomp everyone knows that. The thing most ppl missed is that after a stomp we can use every air normal we want.

gief, sagat, rufus, ibuki, cammy and gouken are the most easiest to use this, there are others but like i said you cant really make it consistent.

against gouken is really really good.

Does it still dodge Gouken’s counter if you do it that low? I’ve used headstomp against Gouken before but I always do it on his head or on the way up, not on the way down near the ground like that lol.

You can do it again Bison as well IIRC. There are lots of tricks you can do with headstomps, such as stomp into j.rh and have Chun land on the other side of the opponent. Unfortunately this isn’t really that effective.

Couple of hours to go until Mix Up Night. I’ll probably go U2 against Haitani if I have to face him. I’ve been watching some vids of his play and I don’t think he would give me too many opportunities to hit U1.

df+lk ftw. we’ll see what really happens tho. I’m reserving my judgment. Is it clear when this thing is supposed to be done?

It would be hilarious if it was out so close to Evo and it got used :lol: One year, one SF4 iteration… at least have v2012 do a repeat performance.

I don’t know any dates or anything like that. What I do know is that if they nerf the okizeme game (like they have said they will) then Chun is going to automatically rise in the tiers, slap on a few buffs and you’ve suddenly got a solid character. I’ve been playing her again recently too, still the most fun character to play <3

yeah like skatan said if they nerfed the oki across the board… if they really do that.

the thing is i cant see it, just because how radical the change would be.

I just don’t see how they’ll accomplish it without severely hurting certain characters who thrive on oki game.

Adding delayed wakeup would change a lot of things, well, hopefully they fix the unblockables at least, even that change would be a huge buff for Chun since she’s the most common character to have an unblockable on.
