Yes, that is a possability since he did not play his matches in Week 18. If he does not play again this week, per the rules, he will be dropped. There are a few others in danger of being dropped as well, including a high-profile player.
Rules are rules. Play your matches, otherwise stop wasting mine & other’s time. I expect the League to get smaller as we get past the holidays. Hopefully that means a more-efficeint, more-matches-played League.
Yeah I think I know who you are talking about. But he played in the 2v2, so technically he played in an official league event in between. Maybe that should get consideration. I don’t know. Just thinking out loud.
Also, with college finals and holidays right now, you are right, I suspect a few people dropping out from inactivity.

Hey SAL have you ever thought of just capping the league now and just replace the same amount of people that leave for whatever reason. I say this because at the moment the league still doesnt help represent how good people are due to auto promotions and such. Plus it would make things alot easier for you and it would be nice to have a ranking system that you can easily read and tell where your gona be if you win.
He capped it a while back at 96 players x2 characters each = 192characters. We have yet to reach that limit though.
The ranking will be easier once there are fewer dropouts. But the rules are there so you can see where you go if you win or lose. I have thought about making something for SAL that would dynamically adjust the rankings and could be shown on the website in “realtime”. But he likes his excel spreadsheets. So…
Ideally, no one drops out & everyone plays their matches. But there are always a few bad apples. Hopefully, over time, we are left with members that actually want to play in the league. And we lose everyone else.
However, after 8 months of doing this, we are still refining the rules. I am losing my patience for members that do not play their weekly matches. Again, why join if you don’t have the time or commitment to play two 10-minute matches every 10 days? So much so that I am considering dropping players after 1 week of no-shows. However, the rules do dictact where you will be ranked if you win or lose your match. Unfortunately, with the chronic problem of people dropping or being kick out, there are spots left vacant. Those are filled by bumping fighters up the rankings, or even divisions.
All the divisions need to have 16 fighters. The lowest divisions may have less, but all the highest division will always have 16 fighters. So, if people dropout out or are kicked out, those active fighters below them move up to keep all the top divisions full. Even if you lose your fight this week, you are still a better fighter than someone who doesn’t show up at all, IMO. ELGENERAL has lost out on some serious compeitition as a result of his opponents quitting, dropping, or stopped playing. He is always ready for his fights - others are not. But that is part of the reason he is the Grand Champion of the SFCCL. Oh…and he is damn good too.
I think the system we have now works. If you play your matches, don’t be concerned about the ‘bad apples’. You will be rewarded for 1) a victory, and 2) for simply playing even if you lose. Those that DO NOT play do not benefit from the ‘auto-promotions’. Also, they most likely will be gone soon. Eventually, we will get down to a realistic, managable sized League where the rankings truly reflect the win/loss records, activity, & fighter’s skill. There is very little volatility in the higher divisions as those players tend to be more dedicated. Now that you have gotten both of your fighters to the GOLD & SILVER divisions, ANAKINY2k, you will not see much impact to your figthers from any ‘auto-promotions’ since they will affect players/fighters below you. The lower divisions are littered with ‘bad apples’. Over time, they get dropped & the real, skilled, dedicated players emerge.

You lost your match with GOUKEN. Based on the rules listed on the site, the loser of a 14vs15 match will fall to #15 in the rankings. Since your Gouken is in the GOLD, the only way he will be affected by any ‘auto-promotions’ is if someone leaves from the GOLD Division (one person may be dropped this week). If that is the case, your Gouken will move up one spot, back to the #14 rank.
You won your match with BISON. That makes you the SILVER Division champion (congrats!) for next week. Now, because of the possible member leaving the GOLD Division, your BISON may move up to the GOLD Division since there will be a vacancy left by the departing member. Since you are the SILVER Division champ, you get to move into the GOLD Division at #15. This is a reward to both you and your skills. You’ve stay committed to the League & I honestly thank you for that. As a result, your 2 figthers could be in the GOLD Division next week. We need the new blood for sure!
The winner of the #2vs#3 match in the SILVER Division (Kruobika13’s BLANKA) would have been the #1 Contender for your SILVER title, but instead will automatically move up to champion spot to fill your BISON vacancy since he moved up to the Gold Division. Even the loser of your match (Kurokiba13’s BISON) would normally fall to #4 in the Silver division. However, he may end up at #3 due to the vacancies.
In contrast, RAMMY81 & JINSOKU_Z have not palyed their SILVER 6vs7 match. Since both have played their other match this week, that match will most likely declared a DRAW, unless they play. A draw results in no winner & neither fighter moving in ranking. They will be stuck at #6 & #7, respectively. All other active fighters below them in the rankings will jump them in the rankings due to the ‘auto-promotions’ & as a result of playing their own matches, win or lose.
This emphasizes my overall point. Since you and others played your matches, you guys are better than those that did not play. Even if their skill levels are realistically better, how can anyone see that if they don’t prove it in official matches? I would much rather have a small, efficient League of dedicated, visiable players comapred to a big, bloated, space-filled League where 30% of the members don’t even play. Don’t worry about their rankings since they obviously don’t.
SBL, I would be interested in a system that is “realtime”. Weebly is limited in what you can do on their sites tho. But it does accept Custom HTML codes. More than anything, a ‘realtime’ system will clearly show who is NOT playing. I do my best to update the results of matches in the current week on the site every day or other day.
If I sound a bit aggrevated, it’s b/c we have 1 day left in this extended Week 19. As of right now, 41 of the 73 matches have been completed. That is only 56% of the matches. That reality is what makes my job harder than anything else.
My apologies for this LLLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG reply, but I felt it was a good time describe my thought-process for the League, the problems I encounter weekly, and how I try to deal with them in a fair manner. I hope that everyone can say that about me & the League thus far. I normally NEVER discuss future rankings, dropouts, or decisions. The reason is simple - I want to leave those end-results up to the people directly involved. If everyone plays, then my job is really easy. It’s when I have to be Judge and Executioner when my job becomes difficult and the League looks bad. I may post this as new BLOG for everyone to read because I think it is important.

Whoa now! Dropping after 1 week would be harsh IMO. Real life can get in the way of SF occasionally. 2 weeks is fine. This time of the year though may see more unplayed matches. Due to holidays and school finals and illness. But my understanding is that if we let you know the you can just forfiet for us until we can return to action.
I’ll look at a new system after the new year. Maybe we can get something in place before SSF4.
I think if we lowered the maximum league members it would help out with the drop out rates and what not. It would def make your job a lot easier to Sal.
It went down to the wire but I beat Auzzigamer. Damn tough fight and we got disconnected in our last round. We fought first round wins and I took it. Gen over Sagat 2 - 1.

Im sure i speak for all of us when i say that we appreciate the work you put into this league so we can all have a fun fight every now and then. But i do think it would be better if you reduced the max number of people that can join as it is we can go on forever with people leaving getting kicked out etc. The league would be all the much better if you know everyone is going to play their match.
And at the end of the day yes life does get in the way of ss4 but it only takes 2 mins to message your opponent or SAL to let em know what is happening. Atleast then they arnt going to be guessing wether your going to be a no show or not. Just to recap GOOD WORK SAL KEEP IT UP!!!
I would love to join but i’m really scrubby as of now and am in training with Akuma. Trying to get those combos down! With the help SRK and it’s wonderful members. When I do get better I would love to join though:rock:. Also I see the rule where there is 2 players that has to be played. Good rule! Maybe you’ll see me in a month or 2 joining this league but for now I will study everything i can about Akuma:tup:
That is true. As long as any member stays in touch with me, I will keep their fighters in the League. They will have to forfeit their matches & fall in the rankings every week, but it’s better than starting over.
However, eventually there is a time limit to that as well. Almost all members who don’t have the time bow out gracefully, as VIETNAMAZING has done. That is always appreciated.
I agree that the smaller the League, the more chance that we have everyone play their match. But I’m not going to kick anyone out now just for that reason. The 2-weeks of inactivity rule is working fine in terms of dropping those inactive players. Not once in the 8 months of this League has any member argued about begin dropped.
Of course, I can’t ever predict or guess which members or new members will or will not play their matches every week. Honestly, outside of the weekly update to the sire, rankings, matches, etc., the League does run itself. It really doesn’t matter if we have 10 members or 96 members, if everyone plays their matches, it’s all good!
I guess this means you do want to return? I’ll add your fighters back to the League for Week 20, which starts tomorrow, Friday, December 11th. However, since you did leave, you will have to begin at the bottom of the League. Your old rankings are now occupied by others. Your prize for the 2v2 Tourney is also lost. Stay cool, and don’t let what other people say bother you, NOARMS. Costly decision to quit.
