It’s not a very complex matchup really … pretty much every matchup against Boxer is pretty boring
Your main weapon to poke is c.MK (no surprise here). At it’s max range it’s easily spammable, as Boxer can’t punish you with a jump-in (even though his jump is fast), and it beats both his normals and his dash punches. He can get hit out of his punches easier than other characters (weird hitbox thing), his crouch ones are pretty fast though. Keep him at c.MK distance, where his punches will whiff. And occasionaly use s.HK too, as it can catch him if he’s planning to jump, you have to be kind of early though or he’ll get a full jump-in combo on you. Keep an eye out for that at all times, Boxer players like jumping with him. It’s one of his main strengths, kinda hard to react to with a dp K or anti air activation and hard to beat with normals when placed well. s.LP can beat stuff, but it’s not really worth trying as the risk is higher than the reward imo. Just block if you’re unsure.
If you are further away from him, just walk up to him, using s.HP and c.MK to beat his dash punches before they even reach you. It’s really hard to punish these normals on whiff for him as they are pretty fast.
And of course sweep at every opportunity you get (if they whiff, link from counter hit crouching lights) for the oh so important knockdown, that’s what every doll player loves and should be doing ;>
Look for opportunities to cross him up with j.LK. Boxer is easy to crossup as he can’t really punish you for trying. Her jump is slow though, so be careful not to get too predictable. It’s also your biggest opportunity to deal damage. Crossup j.LK, s.HP xx qcf HK is her hit confirm combo of choice. If it’s blocked, remember that s.HP is +6, so you have the upper hand. Pressure him with s.HP a bit more, and if you get a major counter cancel it into dp HK or qcf K (gets them into the corner faster). You can also go for throw and mix it up with c.MP (or crouch lights) counter hit setup -> link into sweep. If you are sure the crossup is going to hit, activate midair, then crossup LK, s.HP xx qcf LK and go from there.
Also remember that you are playing an A-ism character. If you decide to jump, he has to be really careful when anti-airing you. His anti airs aren’t all that hot, so use that to your advantage. He’ll probably try to air throw (pretty good move for him actually), so be prepared for that. If he get’s predictable with his dash punches (i.e. you see it coming miles away), activate VC2, use the invincibility to get close enough and then dp HK, s.LP (whiff c.HK) xx qcf HK and go from there.
It’s not easy to connect her VC’s (one of the reasons why she’s bottom tier after all), probably the hardest part when playing her, knowing when to go for the big damage and getting close enough for it. I’m sure you already noticed that ;> Her basics are pretty good for this match though, so you can definitely win if you can keep up in the race for damage (hopefully connecting a VC every now and then …). I would say this matchup is a 4.5:5.5. Take your time learning Juli, it’s a long way to go with her.
Pretty cocky to go into a money match with her against any character that is not Honda me likes, and i sure would love to watch it. Hope you are successful anyway !
