SF5 Etiquette

Well remembered. However, I’ve never seen anyone doing it - not that this makes it wrong, of course.

OK, but as long as you apply the “only for joking purposes and never exaggerating” rule to inside the matches as well.

It’s what @ErikkuSama pointed: Be respectful to your opponent.

I read the first post and LOLed at all the LOLs.

LOL. Etiquette in a fighting game. Funny topic. Play to win and no shit talking. That’s all you gotta do.

Imo it’s all about never ragequitting.

If the game is laggy then wait a bit. Be idle for a while or back to the corner (although i think this will make your opponent think you’re afraid and start bashing you…).
If the other guy (or girl) is somewhat experienced (s)he’ll notice something’s wrong. If not, well, tough luck…

abusing something that’s working isn’t bad. At least for you that is. That’s something that the other person has to figure out how to deal with it.

as for the stun… seriously?
Why should anyone refrain from attacking after a stun? It’s their fault for not dealing properly with the situation they got themselves in!
imagine this, you’re losing and within a 2x jab life, now you got lucky and managed to get a combo in and he’s just shy of stun.
you throw a mk or whatever your character has for a good poke and stun him.
you have enough meter to go in and end the round/match with a combo, but you decide to respect the stun and wait for it to end and after that he just throws 2jabs and finishes you off…
How is that working for you after that? You managed to get a nice comeback and get the chance to finish but instead you choose to be dudley (remember his “let’s fight like gentleman” intro) and lost.
that’s just plain wrong, the purpose of the game is to win. If you get a chance to win and fail to take it you’re doing it wrong.

just my 2 cents on this…

Even if you’re not losing, getting an opponent stunned isn’t about cheating, is about strategy.

I know. It’s your reward for playing correctly. If they can’t handle your strategies then it’s because they’re good at least against that person. It’s their fault and they deserve to eat the extra damage.
i only gave that example of a possible situation where you’d lose after stunning the other to point out that not taking advantage of it is just wrong and goes against the purpose of the game which is to win!

If I encounter an opponent who acts like that I do respect that behaviour but normally I wouldn’t play like that because so few respects it.

For me this is a game, not survival. I play because I enjoy it and the enjoyment doesn’t only come from winning. It’s about “the process”, learning and becoming better, respecting other players skills, challenging yourself and just… well… playing… being in the moment and not all the time thinking about destination (winning).

I’ve been playing since SF2 and have never been a “pro” player. Usually it is playing against friends and maybe at the local arcade. Anyways I have never seen these rules used and have no problem with the way people play currently.

This thread.

I refuse to believe that the OP is being serious

Well, I was serious. Now that you tell me it is normal to hit exploiting technical weakness of opponent and that is not a shame to hit a stunned player I will change the way I play. /thread?

lol funny how a lot didnt notice the troll

I am going to taunt and teabag everyone I play against after reading this thread.

I’mma get better with FANG so I can make people dizzy faster and just scoot through their asses repeatedly.

That character is soo ripe for troll material.
gasp
JUST LIKE THIS THREAD!!

mike tyson talked shit, all the greats talked shit

get good scrub

I thought this thread was gonna be about waiting for your opponent to come back if he happens to not be there during a ranked match or whatever. I usually wait a while, then proceed to whoop them.

You don’t have to create an imaginary set of rules in your head.
Just body these fools, that’s all there is to it.

This is the best thread on SRK.
