I was actually working on a lexicon of familiar Japanese terms for games, but I wanted to put it on my site so it’s still in progress. This is what I have that’s Street Fighter-related though.
??? (Ashibaraisen) - Footsies game
??? (Giwaku no Mekuri) - Ambiguous cross-up. You can just say Mekuri for cross-up though.
??? (Japu Kyanseru) - Jump Cancel. You can use it for Tiger Knee situations too. i.e. if you wanna talk about Dhalsim’s instant air teleport.
??? (Abare) - Attacking in any situation. i.e. even if you’re at a frame disadvantage, you attack to catch the opponent off guard.
??? (Ukemi) - Tech hit
?? (Tame) - Charge i.e. for Sonic Booms, headbutts, etc.
??? (Tamebunkatsu) - Charge partition (not SF4, but it can be useful I guess)
???X - (Oshippanashi) - Hold to do X i.e. Hold MP+MK to charge up Focus to level 3
???X (Shagami) - Crouch. i.e. ??? is Crouching Punch. ??? is Crouching Guard
??? (Nagenuke) - Throw escape
?? (Taikuu) - Anti-air
??? (Gangaado) - Turtling essentially. It refers to ???.
?? (Nitaku) - 50/50 mixup game. Kind of like, okay, do I risk backdashing here and eating a potential SRK to the face, or do I stand here and block and risk getting thrown? Therefore… ?? (Santaku) is a 33/33/33 mixup game. But the latter isn’t used that much.
BeautifulViolence: It’s common for Japanese speakers to drop the last sound of words in a lot of situations. A lot of my friends will say “Toront” instead of “Toronto” because of that habit, which is why they won’t say the “ch” sound in Punch.
Thanks Az and Reno for their contributions. Gonna print it out and pass it to my friends tomorrow so we can have an easier time discussing sf terms. I think its a lot easier for us to use Japanese terms rather than him using English.

Some updates and corrections after Saturday’s session:
bupa is also known as bupa wa panashi
hitting an opponent after KO is shitaigeri, not shitakaburi
option select is shikomi
Japanese jump cancel refers to doing a special a few frames before landing from a jump. eg, Chun’s air hazanshu. Apparently there’s no special term for Tiger Kneed specials.
Kara means empty in japanese (ie. karate - empty hand). So “kara throw” comes from the “empty” first move canceled into the throw, as the move doesn’t actually come out.
Kougeki Oiteoku???- Meaty Attack
ushiro wo tameru ???- Charge back
Renda suru ???- Mash or press rapidly (like for chun’s legs)
kuuchuu combo ???- Juggle
I actually had a lengthy discussion with a guy at TRF about this… he thought it was funny that English speakers use “Fireball” for every type of projectile except for Sonic Boom.
ko, chuu, dai, can be used for weak, medium, hard.
