SF4 Standard Edition FightStick - Problem / Defect Thread

I haven’t been having any mechanical problems with my SE Xbox stick but… I am unhappy with the audio headset port. I’m using an Earforce X4 wireless headset and the xbox live chat is so low that I actually have to turn the BGM and sound effect down all the way to hear what’s being said by my opponent. Any one else using a standard xbox live headset having this problem?

My standard headset works fine. In fact the voice coming through the headset is louder than it is when I plug it into a regular controller. :frowning: Sounds like a third party issue.

i picked up my fightstick a couple days ago at my local EB (off a pre-order)

LITERALLY WITHIN 5 MINUTES!! of taking it out of the box, and practicing in the SFIV training mode… my ryu was on a permanent crouch… absolute BS!

luckily i picked up 2 sanwa JLF-TP-8Y sticks & 12 OBSF-30 buttons from a local store, in anticipation of this problem…

(this exact model)

since i did the exchange to the sanwa parts, so far i played well over 8-9 hours, not even 1 directional issue, no button sticking issues!!!… im loving the sanwa parts!!..

IMO, i think MC should send us sanwa sticks/buttons to better this situation with their SE sticks… it’ll cost em a measly $30 or less in parts per stick, for their lack of QC…

heres my modded stick… (swapping took 20-30mins MAX)…

I have the X4 as well, but haven’t hooked up the headset yet, partly because it looked like the plastic adapter they give you is designed to wrap around the original “puck,” and partly b/c I haven’t needed to chat in SF yet. Anyway, I assume you’ve maxed the volume control on the puck (that controls the volume of chat)?

The clip does not fit on our x4 pucks but the adapter cable does fit. It is tight enough that it should not come off easily.

Yes I have.

Do me a favor and test out your mic(my xbox live tag is ‘Blaque Jezus’ if you want to play) If you are not having a problem then I’m going to have to RMA my stick. I don’t have a regular headset anymore to test if it works fine. I do have the wireless microsoft headset but I like the x4 so my fiancee doesn’t have to yell at me for hearing Shoryuken and Hadoken constantly

Mine was broken right out of the box

Drove two hours today to get the only controller left in the Chicagoland area Gamestop stores…

Thought I was very lucky…turns out, not really.

My controller was broken right out of the box. I took some videos and posted them on my blog if you guys are interested: http://evilrtoys.blogspot.com/

Need Help with Low Kick Button.
I’m sure this has been posted somewhere before but after looking for the last 15 mins I can’t find anything and don’t have the time.

My low kick button is sticking (and seemingly getting worse) and I want to open my standard edition stick and fix the problem. Is this easy? What do I have to do when I get in there? Is the button’s housing just not lined-up properly?

It seems easy enough to find the fix for the washer/stick problem, but I find little mention of the button problem.

Thanks in advance,

The Sandwich

It seems I am not the only one with the headset problems.

(Not exactly the same problem as me.

“In order to fit an Xbox 360 headset into the FightSticks, you need to utilize a little cord/adapter thats pretty identical to Rock Bands guitar chatting solution.
Now Im pretty good with plugging things inits sort of a job requirementbut I had all sorts of chatting issues on both[he means SE and TE] FightSticks with multiple 360 headsets and two different adapter cables. Sometimes people couldnt hear me and sometimes I couldnt hear them.”

Screw it. I got tired of dealing with MadCatz BS. I should have known better than to buy any of their shady peripherals.

I sent the SE FightStick back to Amazon. Since it is a defective item, they paid for return shipping. The net cost to me…$0.

my guide button for both my sticks dont work, SOB!!!

LOl damn and i was thinking of getting one too.

i bought 2 of these sticks, got 2 different button problems with both.

after just two days of playing, one of the sticks sometimes didnt register the LK button for 1-3 button taps… which leads to that you sometimes cannot connect cr.lks for example, so gotta return it back to get a new one, completly unplayable on high lvl.

after a 1 week the other sticks HK button just died completly in trainingmode… felt kinda strange when it died so i plugged it out and then back in and just as i thought, it started working again…later same day (it was today actually) it stopped working completly in a match online…so i had to plug it out then back in fast during the match and it worked after that lol. you cannot do that all the time and it should work 100% which it isnt so, completly unplayable aswell and gotta get this switched out aswell…zzz… just what kind of shitty sticks are these?!

Here’s a step-by-step of "ErcsYou"s solution. Sorry if this has already been posted, just trying to help someone out. I know it helped me, my stick works perfectly now.

my medium punch button started sticking out of no where…

Glad i have ordered parts from lizard lick

I picked up another SE stick today. Last one in any gamestop in the Minneapolis metro. The stick seems pretty good, no sticking. Might be a good one?

Now I have two, one that seems to be fine and another that had a lose washer that I’ve replaced with Swana parts.

Ahoy! So, I posted that Instructable. Thanks for the link. I added a note at the end, thanking the forums here, and people who posted various solutions on their blogs. I was able to fix my stick with everyone’s help, my goal was simply to document it for people who have to do the same in the future.

Thanks.

Well I called the Madcatz phone number on the first page here but got an answering machine. I decided to send them a detailed email with links to the stick review that had the same problems with the headset port. I told them I was planning on buying a TE stick when the get restocked, but if this issue does not get fixed I will no longer be a Madcatz customer.

When I plug my stick in (360), the lights flash green for 3-5 seconds and then it stops working entirely. Unplugging it and plugging it back into either port produces the same results over and over - any ideas?

Guys my LT button stopped working. Could this be from the qds?

Balls, my HK button just went out and no amount of unplugging/plugging the controller back in is fixing it… I guess I need to call Madcatz everyday while I’m at work and complain till they send me a new one (maybe a TE wink wink)
