To the people who didn’t have any issue with their stick, how do you know that your PCB is not being grinded to death without opening it?
I don’t know if I should buy one yet or wait till the issue is fixed then buy it…

Please don’t forget about the non-american customers out there.
A lot of people will be upset if Mad Catz doesn’t live up to what’s expected :
Thanks MarkMan. That’s great to hear from you.
I’ll be holding off on my returns until we hear back from you, MarkMan. Thank you for the update.
i just got my stick and only moved it around to see if i had the washer defect, which it did. upon taking it apart the stick’s pcb was considerably clawed, and i had not even used it to play yet. one thing i noticed was that the side of the washer making contact with the pcb was very, very jagged. took the stick apart and applied a very thin layer of some sort of epoxy to bond the washer to the plastic, waiting for it to dry.
now i have a pretty simple question, why is that washer even there to begin with? i can understand if it were to prevent wear from plastic rubbing on plastic, but if that is the case why is it not securely bonded to the plastic? i’m thinking about just taking that damn washer out and smoothing out the recess it sits in so i don’t even have to deal with this bullshit. i haven’t even plugged the damn thing in yet and the pcb might already need repairing.
super awesome.
Hey Markman, I assume MadCatz is fixing the washer problem in future runs. Will there be a way to tell moving forward if a stick is from the current or next run? I’m sure modding/swapping the stick i easy, but at this stage in my stick n00bness, I’m not looking to mod it, and I don’t want to buy one with this problem.
With other electronics there is usually some version number or part of the serial number that indicates which run it’s a part of. Is something like that planned? Thanks!
if you guys have a 360 SE stick and you dont like it sell it to me. i am willing to buy.
When I took the washer out it left the stick feeling ridiculously loose. I put it back in and epoxied it.
REAL TALK I used my stick for 2 hours and after that all I can say is MADD CATZ FUCK YOU AND EAT A GINORMOUS COCK…
BTW: That video of LordOfUltima is too funny lmao 5 stars
Not only is my SE (PS3 version) giving me problems with directional influence but, about 2 hours after playing, it just stopped working.
I was in the middle of unlocking Akuma, and it died right as i was on Seth :annoy:. I unplugged and replugged it about 5 times until it worked again, but then it died 10 minutes later. I again tried plugging it into different ports but to no avail.
The odd thing is that if I hold down two buttons the red Turbo lights will flash, but it has no communication with the PS3 (60gb) anymore. I suppose this could be a bad usb cable and not a problem with the stick itself, but that’s still awful.
I will probably just return this thing without trying to exchange it because even if I get one that starts working with the PS3 again it is still very likely to have the getting stuck problem.:chainsaw:
Now this is what I’m worried about. I’ve already opened it to address the washer problem, but If the PCB goes bad I’ll be screwed.
So commenting on that, if the PCB is grinded up… There is no point of modding it as it wouldn’t work anymore? Correct me if i’m wrong, but i’m assuming moocus’s stick came out of the box all grinded up already since you didn’t play on it yet… That Suck!!
I joined the SRK forums today because of SFIV and the new SE fightstick.
I bought an SE fightstick and have had no problems with it. However, I am worried about having the same issues as a lot of people relating to this problematic washer issue.
I am assuming that I will get the shaft if I start having problems as I have opened my stick up already? Will Madcatz defy the odds and stand behind their product regardless?
ROFL…I can’t believe any customer service rep would tell a customer to void the warranty by “fixing it yourself”…that is just ridiculously absurd…
I’d wait till they come out with a new revision before even thinking about getting one…even then I’d still have doubts…but that’s just me…
Mad Catz really did screw up royally this time…
I look at that as a good sign. That’s good ammo for those of us who opened up the stick already in case this “mystery announcement” from Madcatz is to replace SE sticks with a Sanwa JLF… :lovin:
I really doubt they’re going to replace them with JLFs…
I bought one today, and it had the sticking joystick. I exchanged it and the new one has the same problem. Going to try to get a third one tomorrow, but this smells like recall to me. If I don’t get a usable stick I won’t have one until the end of march
Had the se stick for three days now and there’s no sticking on the joystick but I was just wondering without opening the stick how can you tell if your joystick has a problem???
Sigh…count me in as well. Have a PS3 SE with the washer problem and customer support was unhelpful to say the least. Either I can take it apart myself and fix it while loosing any warranty in the process, or I can send it back to be repaired (who’s to say how long that will take though).
Was all stoked when gamestop had a single extra PS3 stick within a 100 mile radius (I know as I called back to see if any other stores had one so I could swap it out), and then the stick is broken from the get go. I eagerly await MarkMan’s announcement as to how this will be handled and I hope they’ll come through on this.
ok, my curiosity is killing me on this one… What is “nihongo-jin” supposed to mean?
At first I thought it was a mistake of nihonjin, but I can’t see a non-japanese person calling themselves nihonjin…yet a real japanese person wouldn’t make that mistake, haha. But nihingo-jin doesn’t make sense… is it from something?
