They complained of input lag on the original electronics, though I haven’t seen it myself. Maybe the folks at X-arcade have improved the electronics over time?
You can definitely perform some surgery on the X-arcade box and put in Sanwa stuff, but it will change it irrevocably and probably break compatibility with happ-style sticks. The wiring will also be (mostly) compatible, though the quick-disconnects on the ends of the wires will be too large (Happ-style hardware uses larger junctions than Japanese-style hardware).
If you want to instead start a box from scratch, you can order a cthulu board (~$40) for the electronics. However, the box can actually be one of the hardest/costliest parts of the construction if you’re not an experienced carpenter with lots of tools, so I would still recommend just modding an SE, which is relatively cheap, has great electronics, and will accept J-style hardware without cutting/soldering (the joystick it comes with is actually pretty decent, too, though the buttons are absolute garbage).

I guess I’m a little late to the party, but I want to thank the community for all the hard work you put into modding this game. Of course, I know it’s just a labor of love. Since I just got this thing, I have the benefit of using all the knowledge out there. Making the face errors go awaury during a moveswap is fun, as is doing basic size adjustments on the models.

Thanks for the compliments! It was easy just tugging at the vertices with Misfit Model 3D and piecemontee’s program easily spitting out the costume components. I guess you can say Chun was anatomically correct the big way- I inflated her arms to match her legs, whereas other people go the other way and try to tone down ole’ Thunder Thighs. Cammy I just stretched out all around, made her more like a bully:)
Gonna have to take a long break from this stuff so I can get back to other things I was supposed to be doing with my time:P So addictive during the first days!!
