that looks great so far. I definitely prefer the anime-style portraits to the ones that come stock. If you don’t mind a little recommendation: I would say add some space down below the large portraits so the words don’t appear right in the middle of their faces. You could do this by fading out the bottom of the portrait and then just adding an appropriate amount of empty, transparent space (alpha) to move the picture upward.

Otherwise, I love it! I just wish there were equally awesome portraits for the new guys :frowning:

you can use Gimp, I believe its free and there is a plugin for it too

seconding the GIMP suggestion. It’s what I use, along with the DDS plugin, available here: http://nifelheim.dyndns.org/~cocidius/dds/#download

All you need, start to finish, is piecemontee’s SF4 Asset Explorer, GIMP with the DDS plugin and Misfit 3D (available here: http://www.misfitcode.com/misfitmodel3d/download.html) if you want to do model editing. You’ll also want a good hex editor for enabling col-based transparency and nvidia’s Window’s Texture Viewer (available here: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/windows_texture_viewer.html) to determine DXT types.

Contrary to most of the older tutorials that use offzip, dragonunpacker and injector, all of the unpacking/extraction and subsequent injection can be handled directly in the Asset Explorer (it does model/texture previewing, too, which saves a lot of time from constantly loading up SF4 just to see how something looks).

this is a small console program i wrote in C++ to change the color # of costume color files fast and easy when i make skins or want to put skins on a different number

you rename the costume color to the number you want, drag and drop it on the exe, and it does the hex edit for you

the cpp source file is included if anybody wants to change it, i have only tested it on windows 7

Just remeber the SIZE of the original file and, after edit, save to the format that will give you the SAME size
