SF4 Gameplay Video Link Thread

 Sorry.

Did we even come to a consensus that Gouken was broken to begin with?

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=158109

Gouken may be worth banning but we need to wait until he is playable to be sure. Seth is almost certainly NOT worth banning because Capcom nerfed his damage output and life. He’s now just pure flash. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was one of the worst in the game. Banning him would be like banning Alpha 3 bison because his A-ism super (as a CPU char) is broken.

Yo, don’t quote what’s happening at Final Round as if it’s any kind of precedent. Shinblanka has unfortunately gone so overboard in banning that he’s basically made a parody of himself. We’ll have to actually play with Seth and Gouken to see whether they deserve to be banned. It’s impossible to come to any consensus any other way.

How often are these videos uptaded?

gouken needs to be involved in tourney play. at least he will be at the gamestop tourney

No he won’t. It’s only regular characters in the gamestop tourney. No unlockables.

Which would be completely stupid on Capcom’s part to leave Gouken untouched and still a buffed boss character - since they already did Seth.

So I think there’s faith that Gouken will be toned down as well from his arcade boss damage, or whatever makes him banned. But whatever, we’ll all see come release.

and akuma got defense nerfed in hd remix and look how that turned out… didnt affect him one bit.

and thats not a-ism bison, its shin bison, totally different character.

bottom line, no one gets banned until properly proven. im sure in the end, that seth may get banned, we could be wrong. gouken is a lot harder to tell.

It’s absolutely ludicrous to ban characters from tournament play before the game is even released. There’s absolutely no precedent, and any opinions on the topic are purely guesswork. It’s fine to think some characters may be banned, but to actually force such a ban based on no evidence except intuition is ridiculous.

Once the game is out, then let’s start the discussions.

Agreed. - If either Seth or Gouken is overpowered to the point of needing a ban, it will be obviously apparent withing the first week or so. I strongly believe that capcom has become wise enough to make sure that all the playable characters should be as balanced as possible.

Wow, I think that Tatsu claw video is my new #1 fav SFIV video. I love how the commentators basically give him no chance and have to eat their shoe

It is SO MUCH more fun watching an awesome claw or fuerte kick some ass than it is Ryu or whatever. It’s hard to get excited when you see Sagat pwning someone (yawn), but videos like this make you want to go out and learn Claw.

At 0:55 mark Rog does Ex Rush Punch xx Ex Headbutt

Look at the super meter lol

Wow.

Guile did a sonic boom and forward dash FADC out of the boom and still managed to block Boxer’s EX buffalo headbutt that absorbed the sonic boom.

He used only one EX meter, so he didn’t cancel anything. That was just a EX buffalo headbutt.

Looks like the EX kara cancel to ultra also works with other specials too. This opens up lots of possibilities.

EDIT: so which one of the new characters in the console version have super armor on their EX specials. I know Gouken does on his EX rush palm. I’m just trying to figure out who’s gonna be able to use this and in which ways they might be able to use it.

EX Headbutt absorbs hits? I thought it was invincible.

Apparently it does absorb hits.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just read Keno’s thread in Balrog forum. Here’s what he had to say about it.

Man, that’s fucking sick. So he did EX dash punch XX EX headbutt. Used only one EX Stock, AND used the super armor point to absorb the sonic boom before he canceled into EX Headbutt.

You can EX dash punch and cancel into his super since no ex meter was lost when the dash punch canceled.
