ah thunder knuckle feints. whenever i try to do a mp or hp tk feint without using any normal to buffer them i get the tk everytime.

so like say i’m just standing there and i wanted to do mp or hp tk feint how do i do it?

Judging from what you’ve said I’d say you are not doing it quick enough,
I’m quite sure you shouldn’t have any problems doing MP tk feints,
but for HP tk feints, you have to do it ridiculously fast, almost as quick as when you’re doing kara cancels.
try 214HP > LP+MP first to get a hang of it,
when you’re quite convinced with the timing,
use 214HP > MP+HP instead,
the problem with the first one is sometimes you’d get an EX tk instead if you haven’t got amazingly accurate finger movements.

As for practical or not, I must say using HP tk feints in my plays has benefited my playing a lot, and I’m not afraid of sounding like some cheesy 80’s comercial,
I started using Hp feints just to be showy, but after a while I really felt that the couple frames of recovery shortened is actually quite important,
and it helps me time my safe jumps and seismo games.

But of course, I’m not not contradicting what DevilJin said, it probably only works for me, since I have a very busy play style. (by busy I mean I’m constantly doing things, even when my opponent is a whole screen away, it’s a habit I picked up from using Angel(KOF02))

yeah i have a busy playstyle as well. haha i’ll try it out tonight. my execution is pretty on point. it’s just i’m missing a few things from viper’s vast arsenal. the mp and hp tk feints are something i haven’t really tried much but i wanna put it into my game. thanks again guys.

best way for me to practice SJ ultra off normals is to practice it with a crouching fierce till you get used to the motions and then work on cr. strong which won’t be too difficult to adjust to after you have the timing down.

hey didnt wanna start new thread. any tips on the dp motion for ex seismo dash ultra?
i mostly get the meterless fa but no dash… im thinking its my dp motion… where do the two fwds come from in the dp motion? is it the f, uf?

edit - to my understanding, people do ex seismo, f,d,df,f,uf + mp+mk and the meterless dash comes out. am i wrong?

ok that makes it more consistent. do you use the dp motion as buffer for the first qcf of the ultra, or input the whole ultra after dash?

I input the whole Ultra. The :uf: counts as the first part of the dash so you only need to tap :f: once again after that. Kinda like when you hold :f:, then tapping :mp: + :mk: + :f: for an instant dash.

i see. thats what i do now, but from what people have said, you can just do the dp motion and hit mp+mk. ive got the dash out a few times this way but i had to emphasize the dp motion rather then shortcut it. thanks though, i think ill just stick to doing it this way
