I think there would be a problem if there were women complaining about sexual harassment. So far only dudes have complained for the most part, which is kind of confusing.
Overreacting does more damage than good for your cause. :nono:
I havn’t seen anything like that at all. Granted, I didn’t watch any Tekken today and I missed half the SFIV pools on the first day.
But from what I have watched, I havn’t seen or heard any of what you describe. Except the announcer calling Tatsu “pretty” before, but y’know… He is.
I watched the camera man zoom in on every women he could find for five minutes straight. And the women were obviously uncomfortable because they could tell they were being watched - was it on the big screen?
I’m sure any women watching will think twice before attending future tournaments in person. And from the perspective of sponsors, it’s not good.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahhahahahahahhaha unironic reverse-sexism post. Hmm perhaps if I intersperse the misogyny with wacky fat folks I can attempt to make a post calling this equal opportunity!
dat juri bitch was fine.
Well said. People really need to think about how it portrays fighting games.
Erm, that’s the point, the only people crying for the commentators to be discriminatory are you guys. How exactly does this oversensitive BS help the community?
Do you really not see the inanity of complaining about gender bias in the same breath as demanding the commentators treat women with kid gloves?
That it doesn’t matter your sex, race, color or creed, you’re all equally at risk. You’re all clearly asking that women be off limits to any community shenanigans.
I think its great the fighting game community doesn’t act any differently towards anyone. Why do you hate it?
Because it’s overwhelmingly male dominated.
Oh fucking well.
Jesus. Everyone’s a pussy these days, and nobody can have any fun. Who gives a fuck if women aren’t comfortable. This is the scene. If you’re not comfortable, keep on walking, and go find something that does make you comfortable.
Sure, we could abandon all that gives us identity so that more people feel comfortable, or we could be the kind of scene that has a personality, for those involved.
Sorry, but we’re talking about playing videogames. It’s going to be an immature, mostly male scene. We don’t need to cater to every special interest group out there. Who the fuck wants women at this stuff anyway? Go get your girls in the real world. Let this be my place to act like a dick, and not have to worry about it… since it always has been.
Everybody trying to change everything up for the sake of new players… fuck new players. Get in how it is, or don’t. Who cares.
you know whats misogynist? this level up post Saturday stream holy fuck!!!
You’re making a big deal over a bunch of volunteers doing you a favor by streaming a tournament this big.
Yeah some people are getting paid but not everyone is so calling it a workplace is kinda stretching it.
Yeah, it’s poor taste to focus on an attractive female for an extended amount of time, but as the the majority of the posters here have said it’s not all the cameraman was doing. There’s tons of people there. You expect them to NOT focus on someone attractive? Watch any sporting event on TV/PPV. It happens ALL THE TIME.
As for the scene getting bigger, G4 is covering EVO this year and will be doing a special on it. If that’s not a good sign of the scene growing and getting bigger I don’t know what it.
People complaining about women being filmed @ evo is like people complaining about bigfoot being filmed in civilization.
let’s hear from the women who were actually being filmed/offended. otherwise, your complaints are probably better off being sent to the promoters/advertisers.
where can i see pictures of the contestants in the womens tourney
Some of the reactions here have made me consider my long post explaining this on the first page.
I wish to change my earlier statement to “Who honestly gives a flying fuck?”.
It’s a fucking video game tournament, there are a bunch of lonely nerds watching, GET-THE-FUCK-OVER-IT!
I’m not gonna get involved in the whole debate about the female only tourney, but I think the OP is looking for something that really isn’t there.
So what if the cameraman decides to zoom in on a couple of cute chicks(I hope I didn’t offend anybody there:rolleyes:), but such things happen all the time in professional sports. Hell, the World Cup which is broadcast all over zooms in on random chicks far more than it does on males.
No harm is being done here, and I think the OP is probably related to Jane Fonda or something.
fired from what?
Listen to yourself…
i like boobies
Yeah?
I reject this idea that the scene just has to keep getting bigger, if it comes at the expense of the identity of the scene.
Sure, we can always add new players by taking a politically correct, lowest common denominator approach, but why is adding more, always more important than protecting what we have? Yeah… our scene is immature. So what? We’re playing videogames. Yeah, its male-dominated… so what? Why is that a problem?
I know a lot of you guys don’t get to interact with females in real life, but for those of us that do… maybe we don’t want women involved in everything we do. Just like guys that go shoot pool, or bowl, or whatever… they don’t put the cigars out, so more females will want to be around. It’s not designed to be a female environment. It’s designed to be whatever environment is natural for those involved in the activity. If we ever have to censor ourselves, I think we’re missing the whole point. Shit is supposed to be fun.
