At 2:40 you could have done stomps to dhalsim for a free combo, nothing else really to add except not to jump in on Sim unless it’s on his wake up or a punish. Also, was that super supposed to be a ex shoryu at 8:02? Meaty Tanden Engine is good against Sim on wake up because it continues the pressure.
Onto Ken, at 1:18 you did c.hp xx lp shoryu > stomps > dive kick, if you do c.hp > legs > stomps > dive, you get more damage and meter. That was a nice punish at 4:36, I never knew about that thanks! C.hp xx ex Tanden doesn’t work in the corner. Fadc combos are pretty good with Seth because he gains meter pretty fast.
Do you have a good reason for skipping the third stomp in the corner after legs at 2:29?
A really nice trick vs Dhalsims that like to neutral jump over your booms is to PPP teleport behind them and do a lp DP/stomps. He can teleport away but if the does that he’s risking getting hit by ultra, whereas jumping up with stomps is pretty darn safe.
Honestly Dhalsims like to teleport/backdash/jump backwards when being pressured so much I rarely start my mixups with SPDs. I’d rather frame trap DP FADC.
At 7:31 if you hadn’t whiffed the j.hp you could have hit him with a full jump-in combo.
At 7:52 you should have FADC’d into a knockdown or combo’d into super.
At 7:55 you should have combo’d into cr.hp. It was basically hit-confirmed because of the fireball.
9:00 I love that shit. Nobody blocks it. I think the empty jump cr.lk/safe jump mixups is much better vs Sim than throw/frame trap mixups.
I like your playstyle but I think you’d be happier if you incorporated more DP FADC stomps into your mixups/combos. Like for example at 11:09. Level 1 focus -> DP/EX SPD will piss people off to no end. Maybe you were just saving meter? Dunno. But Seth builds meter so fast with rushdown that I figure unless it’s clearly obvious I’m not going to win (90% to 10%, etc.) I spend the meter and figure I’ll end up with more at the end even if I lose the round. But that’s moreso a style thing probably.
Divekick -> SPD on Dhalsim trying to slide underneath it seems really nice. Maybe it’s a punish? Would be really useful if it were, could be useful.
I dunno if you need to EX the SPD vs Dhalsim when you do empty jump -> spd. The main reason I EX my SPDs is if their character has a 3 frame crouching short or something.
Lol, I recognize gridmans name from somewhere, me and him have the same bday, he’s just 2 years older than me. I remember looking on SRK to see who has the same bday as me.
Yeah it was an ex shoryu. A lot of the whiffed spds you see are actually not spds im just getting raped by shortcuts.
I thought that legs would only be good if i had a lot of hits in the combo already (ie after stun or something) so I did dp cause I thought it did more. As i was doing c.hp ex tanden I was thinkin like yeah this prob doesnt work and I even said it right after that round my friend who was watching.
as far as skipping the third stomp, it keeps them guessing. some people are really good at guessing which side you end up on and mashing out dp so its just another layer (to me) of making them focus and guessing. also good idea with the teleporting behind sim thing kikui, ill try that
Also - Id like to say kikui, if dhalsims continually slide under your jumpins/divekicks, ex spd is great because it beats 3 out of his 4 realistic options. If they like to throw you after those situations, ex spd will eat it. If they like to bait you to throw tech, ex spd eats normals. If they block, ex spd will catch them. Backdash/teleport out are his only options out of that. Fortunately, its very hard to react to.
Guys, some pointers on the cammy match-up plz. I hate this bitch, really. Is there some sort of option select I can just use to get out of Dive Kick bullshit? because teching at the wrong time sometimes makes me lose 50% in one go, which sucks.
What’s your main strategy for coping against her? Do you Shoryu her dive kicks on reaction? Also, give me some safe jump set-ups to use against her, please.
Yeah. The inputs are :l::d::db: :lp::mp::hp:. If she does a throw you backwards teleport. If she does a cannon strike you backwards teleport. There’s another option select with :r::d::df: :hp:. If she does a throw you Shoryuken her. If she does a cannon strike you Shoryuken her. Alternatively mash backdash.
Also if you really want an OS :lp::lk::mp: is your best bet.
Yes I do shoryu divekicks on reaction, but not instant air ones. This is really hard online, not as hard offline.
She has the same safe jump setups as Sagat. SPD, walk forwards (dash? I forget), jump. But I don’t safe jump with Seth often. I’d rather cross up on their wakeup if I can.
Yeah, just look at my video vs cammy and do everything I didn’t do, I got cornered in like 4 seconds, which is a really bad habit of mine if I’m not rushing down.
e.g.
s.hk > c.mp xx mk legs > stomps
does more damage than
s.hp xx hk legs > stomps
however, as it’s less hits when you stun someone, the second combo will do more damage (unless of course you’re at 10% scaling already, or I believe if you stun the person in 1/2 hits).
"? Seth’s Jumping Hard Punch is gone, the stretchy arm one copied from Dhalsim. Now Seth does something akin to Guile’s Crouching Hard Punch. Down + Medium Kick in the air (toe taps) had their hitbox weakened. Ultra 1 is now ‘fireball-like’, so it can be deflected by other character’s projectiles."
If these changes go through how many peeps here are droppign Seth =/
I just can’t believe it if these changes go through. All nerfs and no buffs make Seth unplayable. He already requires so much work to win with. We Seth players have had to put up with so much crap from moaning scrubs and Capcom. If Seth gets worse in SSFIV, I won’t just drop Seth I will stop playing the game completely.
