Nah, you can catch someone with hp super when jumping… just not online.
Just don’t do it to a Honda who’s doing nj.fp
You execute it as they are just before they reach their peak on the way up and it will catch them due to the Pursuit properties Super has.
Indeed. I don’t even have an 360/PS3 so I don’t play online, maybe that’s why I abuse it? :o
Actually, that’s a good point, except you can set it up to where they won’t be able to defend. A majority of players opposing Seth understand that they will throw LP Sonic booms like they once did for the Ultra 1 trap. The catch is to throw a MP/HP Sonic boom when intending to Super. That way there is no way for them to bait your Super because they have to initially be jumping into it (Obvious to see), or they will nj.FP but will realize “Shit, I won’t be able to land on that one.”
Tanden City.
Do you exclusively play at arcades then? The only way I can get matches against skilled opponents without going online would be Troc in London; and I play pad.
I’ve always used HP super for the super trap . I do it once I see them jump up and not at the peak of their jump. I usually throw a HP sonic boom too.
**It says on eventhubs framedata that seths U2 have 1+9 frame startup, what the hell does that mean?
**
Is there a trick to preventing MP/HP Shoryu > FADC > U2 from crossing up my input? It seems like when the enemy is in the air, they always fall above my head and screw up the input and i get something silly like EX Sonic Booms being thrown the wrong way, lol.
:qcb::qcf:+:3p: this may seem weird but due to the timing of your turn it should come out.
If you wanna make sure it connects just wait a split second before hitting the triple punches then you’ll be facing the right way when it hits.
Oh man, thanks. It’s basically a KOF super input. I can do those way easier then qcfx2s anyways, lol.
Once I read your reply I sat down and did it 10 times in a row without dropping it. Much <3s.
Input the ultra backwards.
1 frame for the super flash and then 9 additional frames, leaving 10 total frames.
Can’t play Seth in arcade yet. I play locally at tournaments and sessions held by locals. For the time being, I’ve been living with a couple other SF players and we would play a lot. I’ve only recently buckled down to get ready for Evo.
I personally just slow down on my inputs. It usually comes out the correct way.
Ahh thats pretty cool. I wish I could play in more local tourneys.
I tried that yesterday when someone asked a question about the super trap, recorded Seth doing boom then super, and used Ryu myself to see how i could evade it, neutral jump let me block every single time.
So what you’re saying is if Seth does super and you neutral jump afterward it should not let you block? I’ll test that out in training today.
You have to be really fast… realisticly I don’t think you can react in time at 100% fullscreen (except maybe against chun etc.), but at about one character width in it’s not too hard to catch someone with it.
Well i tested at full screen with Ryu and i could block every time after a neutral jump. I recorded Seth doing super, and tried neutral jumping just before and during the super freeze, and could block every time.
At closer distances you are right though, you can’t block after a neutral jump, and even a backjump doesn’t let you block the super (which i always thought you could).
Interesting to see if you can actually catch people who are trying to get away from you by backjumping, i wonder if you can catch them with super on reaction…
Probably would only work with FP super, maybe SP.
What is the best midscreen punisher combo? I’m playing Seth somewhat seriously since yesterday and basically get my ass handed to me but he’s so much fun.
Start with neutral jump hk, or focus lv3 if they have been stunned after a long combo, then:
4 bars:
1.) s.hp xx sb xx super
3 bars:
2.) s.hp xx ex srk > ex tanden > (4)
2 bars:
3.) c.hp xx ex tanden > (4)
0 bars:
4.) c.hp xx lp srk > jump d.mk x3 > d.hk
At midscreen you can also get someone in to the corner with:
j.hk > s.hp xx sb FADC s.hp xx sb FADC s.hp xx hk legs - which can then be followed up by stomps assuming you hit the corner completely.
Thanks a lot man, much apreciated.
I have a question about Seth’s super. Why would you chose lp or sp over fp?
