That’s not true. There is no way for you to get DP with a shortcut while doing a qcb motion unless you were walking backwards immediately before you did it unless you’re mashing like a mofo. In order to avoid this, I would suggest only using two buttons do EX Legs. Also, stop playing on pad
It’s a counter-hit combo.
Counter-hit usually adds between 2 and 4 frames of hitstun, depending on the move.
Been playing pad since I was a kid, and I’m pretty proficient with it  Tournament with pad for about 3-4 years now? I don’t think the pad is the problem, as maybe question one was interpreted wrong. What I’m trying to do is teleport backwards but I’ll get ex.Legs instead. =\ :l::d::db:+:k:x3 != LL imo~ Maybe when I teleport I should just use :p:x3? Is there a difference between the two back teleports?
Also, the 2nd question wasn’t about being a viable combo, it’s just something I pulled out of my ass on the spot that I saw it countered, just curious how many frames it added =)
Oh, I get what you meant now. You need to go into training mode and check your inputs. You should go for a consistent motion, even though SF4 allows you fudgery, because being sloppy will eventually bite you. I use :l::d::db:, but :l::db::l: and :db::d::db: are legitimate, I believe. Or you can just exaggerate the motion. Often I’ll go all of the way to :ub: just to make sure I got the last :l: input in correctly.
PPP backwards teleport doesn’t go back as far. IE generally not as good.
I actually stopped playing a couple days after I made that post. Been playing again for about three weeks now and it’s slightly better somehow, But it’s still the same bull****. I played a pretty decent Ryu player just now about 40 times and won about %38 or whatever. And he really wasn’t that much better than me but Seth just doesn’t do the right move when I need him to despite putting in the correct input. Most of the nonsense occurs when tanden comes out instead of teleporting on crossups. And I seem to teleport alot instead of ultraing. I know I’m whining but I really can’t take this game that seriously anymore. I’ll just have to play knowing that I’m probably going to lose to barely decent ryus and horrible sagats and just laugh about it.
What exactly happens whenever I get sucked into Seth’s ying-yang stomach thing? I’m imagining it’s quite traumatizing, as my health bar goes down a decent amount.
Decent amount? Well, your first problem is that you’re on crack. It’s probably doing damage to your nervous system, that’s why your health is going down. Crack is whack, homie. Don’t play that. For reals.
I was just wondering what’s a good approach when playing vipers? i tend to sort of panic when they hit me with big combos and get a good chunk of my health out.
Don’t Sonic Boom or focus at midrange, those are free EX Seismo and mp Thunder Knuckle respectively. You have to respect her damage options. Most Vipers are really impatient, so try to be on point with anti-air shoryus. Once you knock her down, apply pressure with dive kicks or cross ups. Her hp TK loses to throws, so her only legitimate reversal is EX Burning Kick, which is unsafe on block.
Besides that, you just gotta block the Seismos and Flame Kicks.
just him getting in and doing big damage. neutral jump HP gets beat by headbutt alot and thats one of my main zoning tools. it seems like this matchup is in balrogs favor either though I’ve heard other wise.
i just realized i put this in the wrong thread. sorry about that.
Remember your qcb + k and srk beats his dashes, I think ex beats headbutt too, not sure about ex srk but ex lightning legs should at least (someone correct me if I’m wrong). If you want to be really boring and just win you could stay really far back and hurt him with those when he’s trying to get close. Not very manly but it works (at least against the Balrogs I’ve played, not sure if they are any good or not).
