I wonder how angry Seth Killian’s next fighting game will be.
Maybe it’ll be a game that in testing has obvious easy-mode characters, but due to some crazy ranking/reward/point/whatever system, huge incentives are given in semi-regular events to try to win with lesser-used or lower ranked characters. Before we know it, there’ll be an entire category of players who refuse to play uncommon/low tiers and will make a point of using high tiers ironically. Fighting game hipsterism will grow to the extent that the equivalent of all Vanilla Wesker top-8 are regularly created intentionally. The Domination 101 series is revived, but Seth is no longer enough of a hardass to write it the way he once did, and instead it simply criticizes the scene passive-aggressively.
Meanwhile, a bottle of sake is set aside somewhere in Japan for the day when there is only one entrant in Gian Recital: the day when the JP ST scene finally, and literally, dies of old age.
