SEGA's Yakuza series thread. Is Haruka gonna have to Komaki Parry a street punk?

Seeing it in English 5 years later is still seeing it…

Ryu Ga Gotoku 6 / Yakuza 6 - [TGS2016] ‘Play Spots’ trailer

That nico nico camwhore stuff is what Americaland does to Twitch bimbos. Throw money at the screen. Except nobody is talking to you thirsty stream monsters. No you’re not even getting a “Thanks” for that $500. So of course kotaku will say this is what’s wrong with Japanese game development. Employing women with no talents being shown off to be featured in high profile videogames.

But none of those jerks will throw that kinda money at Sega America (+Localization to Europe too) can’t get its shit together.

Cats came from Kurohyo, PSP Ryu Ga Gotoku. Collecting cats for an old man to get trained in new fighting moves. Only played the demo of the first one. Fighting was neat being a little different but still worked.

You fought so many stupidly dressed streetwear dudes, which might be why they were all up in Yakuza 5. “Host douche wants to fight!” Alright man, you asked for this.

So I have Yakuza 3-5 and I’ve tried to pick up 3 a few times but I’m fucking terrible at it and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. My current save is where I have to go save a lady from some dude who has brass knuckles and he keeps kicking the shit out of me when he goes into his second phase. So far, from what I can remember because it’s been months since I’ve touched it, is beat up some thugs, played golf and beat up some other guys and I’m not sure if I’m just bad at the game or if I’ve missed a bunch of stuff and I’m a tad under powered?

P L E A S E H E L P

Too bad it’s not Yakuza 6 and you can’t hire Toru Yano to kick someone in the balls or go for a quick roll up.

You could be underleveled.

Put it into more Health. Or anything you think you would be a more useful move.

But since you’re always so stacked money wise, you could buy health items, fill up your inventory and truck through if you need to. Good armor might not be available so early, even thru locker keys but you could look that up if you need to.

He should be like the first boss, but you could have the “FEEL THE HEAT” HEADBUTT by then, that when you get to a certain amount of his health left, then that QTE kicks in and that will take you the rest of the way and end the fight.

I wouldn’t say there’s any shame playing on Easy, they give you the option if you lose maybe the 2nd time right? To want to get thru the story and not have to deal with the damage sponge bosses that in 3, don’t take too much damage from HEAT attacks.

Now, that hardest shit ever you’re probably going to lose 1st time out was in Yakuza 4.

Spoiler

Saejima landing on the beach has to fight Kiryu and CPU Kiryu just wrecks your shit.

Luckily its kinda the same in get him down to enough health and it will take you the rest of the way.

The problem of course is you came out of prison, limited on the number of heal items possible to even collect, no equipment.

Definitely level up a bit. You can abuse recovery items if you’re stuck. The more combos/strings you unlock can help too, there are certain strings you can do that fuck with the AI to a point where they literally can’t do anything.

Double dodge is amazing once you unlock it too.

You have some serious faith if you think we’ll see this game in 5 years. Let’s see how Yakuza 0 does first.

…Have you even played a Yakuza game before?

Yup. Bought the first one on release date. Life got in the way, several years later had to restart from the beginning, still haven’t finished it /lifestory

I’ve been dealing with Sega’s inconsistent-to-non-existent release schedules for longer than anyone on this site. points to avatar

Also a good tip for leveling in Yakuza 3

(besides back then, the first 3 games?, its important to kill enemies, especially bosses with heat moves to get big EXP bonuses)

Bikes, the best weapons in any fight in cities, already. Are good ways to level up.

You get 100 EXP when items break. But that also happens with Bikes that break 2 times.

So Triangle kick all the bikes, (1 hit = 100 EXP when it becomes a broken bike) if you don’t have time and space to pick them up. Free EXP. You can pick up and put down weapons too-to lose 1 durability every time in case the last hit will kill the enemies on the field so you won’t get 100 more EXP.

So when the stages of a fight have bikes just out of reach to even kick, when they’re right there have annoyed me! Maybe an improvement on the game would be to move the fighting area just that much more (Probably don’t need like running too far away = escape from a fight because fights are pretty fast already). Yakuza 5 seemed to have that, with townspeople so close to you, you could move them back to grab weapons you thought were out of reach.

I heard “Jingweon” in that trailer. Gonna assume the koreans are back?
Also… Haruka grew up so damn fast :bawling: … LUL !

Dislike what they’ve done to Kiryus’ face though. He doesn’t look aged if that is what they were aiming for, he just looks different.
Shoulda stuck to the Yak 3-5 Kiryu design but with a couple of more wrinkles or something.

I went back to that boss fight in Yakuza 3 to check it out.

Yeah there is a trick since he stays in RED HEAT after taking out his brass knuckles and does fuck you up (I got cornered on the side of the desk, couldn’t even dodge away).

  • Equip a weapon
  • use an item to get enough HEAT to do an attack
  • backup out of his reach, wait for the Triangle Prompt and end him.

FEEL THE HEAT -> HEADBUTT didn’t kill him off on Normal. Maybe it doesn’t on any difficulty level. Came up when he had like 65% and then he had 15% or so so it still did 50%.

You could get “RE-GUARD” after leveling up to better block back-to-back, or just take your hits and dodge and get out of his range, heal up if you get hit. The ability ‘Taunt to get HEAT’ helps too if you want a long fight and build up heat thru regular attacks, which gets blown up when you get hit/knocked down. Or if just need a little more to reach lv 1 HEAT.

They introduce buying weapons right before you enter the door, but Kamiyama himself doesn’t have anything in stock if you run over there (they block the shortcut alley behind the bar to the ice cream shop for some reason too), the truck has way more stuff. Stuff you actually don’t need and can do it all better on a budget! Find the Gambling house across from the fish market in the alley. Buy 15K worth of tags and get that Red Gamblers Armor from prize exchange. Basically the defacto armor in all the games, you really don’t need any others outside of for a few times, few rooms usually toward the very last part of the game where enemies have guns, or a boss, and you might want a few more points in GUN defense.

Pawn Shop has a better wooden sword for cheap too. 3 Part Heat action, but way more base ATK power than the pole Kamiyama gives you for free which does a 3 hit move too. Too bad it doesn’t do all the damage of beating up the Tamashiro family goons you get plenty of practice when you take one of their swords. Those guys were dying from full healthbars after the sword HEAT attack.

Then you don’t get to find the locker keys either until Kiryu reflects on the beach at night and one’s right there. And guess items breaking only give you 50, but it is nice to see the EXP bar build up a bunch more times a fight than just after enemy kills. Now, forgot where you get the Yakuza Training Armor. In 5, you get it so late, but it probably has the biggest EXP boosts in the whole series, a shame.

Prepare your inventory when you finally leave for Tokyo too, because you get there and are sealed off in one area you’re stuck at with only a few stores you can go in - can’t get to your item bank, can’t even save, and have a boss fight with a guy with a sword. They give some items on the battle map, of course, then break the cabinets at the top of the stairs for a few more.
