I’d say things fell his way. In marvel the better player should win. I don’t believe it’s chance in the slightest. The fact that he lost to matrix who he is clearly better than says a lot.

Justin said he stopped using magneto cuz he doesn’t come through for him. Had nothing to do with him being too much bs or whatnot… And in all honesty sanford I feel like you’re complaining because you’re not as good at that matchup. I remember for quite a long time I was beastly at the msp matchup, years and years ago. There was a point in time where Soo would pick santhrax against me cuz msp on msp I would win more typically (sadly those days are gone)…but anyways I played against more msp so that was my best matchup. I complained that sent storm teams require half of the skill that MS teams took, I still maintain that capcom is OP and unless you are an exceptionally good msp you’ll never get past him. Why do you think that for so long Sent storm teams have dominated mvc2? It wasn’t until evo 2k7 that someone won a major with only msp.

I think the point that keeps being argued is: 2 out of 3 is not consistent enough to determine rank. Whining about losing a 2/3 match is just bad sportsmanship (I’m guilty of it too w/ smooth viper). But it is more often than not true that a 1st to 10 result can differe froma 2/3 result. I mean just to shoot some examples…
Smooth Viper vs. Me: Very clear victory in the ft 10 and then a loss on the first to

JWong vs. Sanford: Sanford claims he’ll lose a ft10, but he won the 2/3.

Wong vs. Chunksta: Wong lost the 2/3 but anyone would prolly agree he would win the ft 10.

All of those things are perfect examples of how a loss in a 2/3 while its still important has no value in truly determining who is better between two players.

Another thing to consider is matchups i.e. I can consistently beat mmds 1 on 1 for various reasons. He uses msp, I know how he plays, and I’ve trained with him. However for a VERY long time he was a much better player than I was. He was the only one to have a shot against finesse at family for a while, he did better against knight (who was a thorn in my side), and various other players that gave me trouble. So yes if we played a 1-10 I might beat him more, but he could beat players that I couldn’t. So for that reason tournaments aren’t good enough to rank anything. I’ll say on record right now, that I had a very easy bracket evo 2k6 (no offense to some of the top players that were on it). So I won the 2-3 matches and that left me ranking higher than the MAJORITY of the mvc2 community. However despite my boastings I’m well aware that I’m not truly 5th best in the world. You get me in that mode though I’ll yell it all day to get under people’s skin. Basically the only true way to rank players would be through a round robin system. Other than that the results will always hold a lot less weight. I think its a justified claim that the average player that beat sanford would have lost if it wasn’t in a 2/3 setting. It is a testament of his progress that he is good enough to beat sanford in a 2/3 but if sanford wants to say that he still feels that he is better than the guy I think its a justified claim. Just kinda bad sportsmanship to not preface that claim w/o congratulating the victory.

But last time we played he won 10-4 wit msp vs my Santhrax/SSCable but Everytime we played in a Grand Finals its was 4-3 4-3 him or 3-2-3-1 me Santhrax vs his matrix or Santhrax vs Santhrax why because we have to out play each other instead of killing a whole fucking team easy wit MAGNETO.

Magneto is the reason Justin beat me so badly not saying he would have lost without him but hell it would have been closer.

Basically your saying “I refuse to have a battle of wits with a smarter opponent”… when you talk like that it make me think you just want easy mode characters other than characters that take skill and thinking.

Ok… but then why did yipes lose so badly when he had storm sent psy. Don’t u see the pattern here that I stated in my post which is TRUE FACT. Storm sent is bullshit just like magnus is bullshit. She has easy kill setups just like magnus, and sentinel can keep almost anyone out in the game besides cable because cable wants to be out so he can shoot, so nullifying the whole keep out factor.

Just because Justin said so it doesn’t mean it’s right. Yea he’s the best player overall in Mvc2, but he’s not LAW homie. That’s his choice and his choice alone to stop using magnus and guess what… Even though people like yipes who has one of the best magneto’s right now, loses to him so bad that he had to pick row starting sentinel, should tell you something. If you flip the script then it should be like this. “I refuse to use storm because it’s too much bullshit, it closes the skill gap between players cause i can run away, rush down, mixup and do a death dhc into sentinel if I want” “I will stop using sentinel because I don’t have to do anything but spit in your face and hope you push buttons in the air so I can take 50% life with a fast fly using commando or magnus etc” You see where I’m getting at? All of the characters are cheap and all have their disadvantages. But even if you pick the disadvantages aka “counters” they won’t always work.

Anyways, my whole point is (just as I stated in the post before this one) You can’t blame a character for closing skill gap between players when other characters have a chance at dominating just like the other. Cause when you say one character is too cheap, then we have to look at how cheap the other character is too, and when that’s too cheap then the other character will have something cheap… It goes on and on… And just to be fair so it won’t sound like I’m defending magnus because I’m not. Magnus has cheap stuff like speed, good snap back priority, guardbreaks etc. Even ironman has cheap stuff like guard breaks u can’t get out of and tons of infinite setups. This shit always is going to contradict itself because it’s all the same cycle.

Well i for 1 dont use magneto as a main and I lost 1 evo because I got dicked out of it after i lost to Justin in winners the other evo was a legit loss…Now im Uncrowned because they are the only 2 other than X that has EVER outplayed me a long set UNLIKE you I can beat the 2 best Yipes/Justin and also place higher than them in a tourney so um who lacks MENTAL fortitude? Take a chill and stay out my grill Bill.

It’s funny that all the arguments you have against Magneto can be applied to low tier characters.

The fact of the matter is people pick Magneto because he has the tools that compliment execution. Practical infinites, high priority, ability to take massive damage without assist characters or meter, good options in most situations, reset/cross and the list goes on and on. Plus he is scrub friendly.

It’s the prime reason I used Magneto against you in Ohio. My chances of winning are higher because my character is MORE CAPABLE THAN YOURS.

I beat you not necessarily because I have a better skill set than you but because I MADE A SMARTER DECISION THAN YOU.

If you gave up the whole “I want to win with my team” bullshit and picked characters capable of getting the job done in certain situations maybe you’d stop getting dicked over every major by Magneto players.

I’ve been following your antiMag posts and all the given examples are always about MSP. Also JWong used Psylocke to counter Yipes, so to me it seems that Psylocke is the real problem here. That said, what do you think of Mag without Psylocke?
