Season's Beatings III - RESULTS!

holy shit steve h took buk!

i can’t wait to see the vids!

:lovin: Glad to hear my younger bro did well at 3rd. 5th place right… dood?

Unfortunately not much was captured. If I had a camera (I probably should get one eventually) I could have capped some good matches. A direct feed of some kind would have been cool too. I wish I had capped some of the tournament/money matches I had with the Canadian players. Very hype.

About the issues with Soul Calibur…I’m assuming they just weren’t aware of the normal situation where (at least at Evo and other 2d fighter centered tournaments) when a special event is going down…you stop EVERYTHING. Stop playing casuals, stop talking to your mom on the phone…whatever. It’s just a matter of respect for the special event that’s going down and a chance to participate in something epic that you normally aren’t a part of otherwise.

If the Soul Calibur players saw a 1 hour at most event bogging down their entire event (which took both days to finish I believe) that’s on them. I don’t even play Soul Calibur much anymore but I know that if I was at a tourney and there was some really big special Soul Cali event…I would have the same courtesy for those players and watch the event. That’s just the way things are done.

The way that post was made though…it does sound like Soul Calibur wasn’t really accommodated for. I never really looked over there but there couldn’t have been more than 2 setups at any given time. Considering there was at least like 4 setups for T5. Sucks cuz if it does end up being a solid game this will cause more drama on top of the Guilty Gear drama for getting things together next year. Oh and yeah not that this matters but the Soul Calibur tourney runner (the big black guy yelling his lungs out into a LOUDSPEAKER at a restaurant sized venue?!) was really annoying. Made me wonder if I entered the SCIV tourney myself. Still doesn’t negate the possible fact that the game wasn’t taken care of.

Actually, I lost to Brent and Combo. No forfeitures. Though I probably should have forfeit, because I was a wreck on Sunday evening. :wasted:

deviljin is smartstuff.
great set with adam, came down to the very end.

and gg’s in tournament with me your ibuki is too much… for now :woot:

what with all this embrasso bullshit??
mag_X got elimanted by da magnus killer himself preppy!
and yipes took a coulple loss and then read those ni99az from this moring’s daily news:rolleyes:. and im sorry but josh will body dat guy… not taking any credit from him cuz he is good , but if you like him we could even put money on it next time around…

I SUCK so please MM me in mvc2. thanksss

Your gonna have to start losing if you want people to MM you again…

LOL. Sorry to treat you like you’re nobody but which person were you again? I’m glad you were able to watch my match with Adam. I think even more people watched that than the 10 dollar money match I won vs. JS Master. Figured I would do a couple small money matches to get some extra practice and hype going. I was low on money and I’m not really much of a money matcher so I didn’t do any Marvel-ish money matches. Maybe next year when I win the lottery.

BTW I didn’t realize the 3S brackets were messed up that badly. I did hear about some guy who normally only plays ST who got like 9th place just by hitting HP with Chun Li all day. The positioning of the Canada players against each other early on could have had something to do with that. It also means that there’s a large base of 3S players that still haven’t stepped up at all in 2 or 3 years. I applaud all the people that come out and play the game but it’s obvious that there’s just a severe lack of knowledge among a good bit of the 3S player base. It would be nice if one day we could enter a 3S bracket where the majority of players are all contenders in some right but I don’t see that ever happening.

BTW I just wanna get out that this was by far the best major I’ve ever been to. Lots of hype, Marvel money, big 3S turnout, DC Metro taking CVS2, venue that stays open till like way late at night that serves great food and drank, Cane’s chicken right across the street, Momo’s chicken, Sushi restaurant, Bubble Tea…it’s the place to be every October fo sho. Thanks to Ghaleon, Fugee, the registration ladies and all other staff who worked tirelessly simply to keep us having a good time. Tournament runners don’t get enough credit so I’m giving you your dues here. Thanks to memories I’ll never forget.

 DJ tripped me out when he was cheering “NC!” with me. Good stuff sir, keep pressing buttons!

Upset madness this year. LOL at Hustleman. Dude, unless you want to actually come out and play with the seattle crew instead of sitting at home lurking SRK to get your info, then shut up already. I told you I had love for seattle, but we’re not fucking with EC. Seattle hasn’t traveled in a while, so they haven’t been able to level up.

For those freaking out about Preppy beastage: I guarantee you he’d make top 16 any day if he played a better team. He’s an incredibly smart player who just plays for fun.

Seattle leveling up again after NWM this last june… we didn’t get enough time. Hopefully seattle will be putting knocking people out next year. Sounds like I was right about the new blood changing marvel again. Good shit Schmidt, J360, Mixup, etc.

I wonder what me and potter… always say… :stuck_out_tongue:

Check.

lolz, all this crazy talk that started. What is this.=. Josh and me had some good games. All and all that guy made it top 3 and I didn’t. Heh. I love seeing iron man getting top in tourneys.

Josh:Im playing iron man for good now brother.:wgrin:

i know its long shot but can or does anyone have the mvc2 brackets? we kiggas bee hungary! :bgrin:

man SB3 was off the hook! mad props to all keep’n it hype!

(physical form)

This was my very first time appearing at Seasons Beatings and it was off the chain. Fugee is the man! Met some great people and played some great matches. That BATTLE FANTASIA fighting game was too great, I MUST get a copy of that. I was the one that was using FREED and yelling out BUSTER WOLF everytime I did his super move. lol Also some great matches in Super Puzzle Fighter, gotta add y’all on XBOX 360 LIVE. And Keits, it’s always great to see ya running the SNK tournaments, had a blast. You are the man Keits. And it was funny as hell seeing Steve Harris letting out his BARBARIC ROARS of HYPENESS again this year! He won the tourny, and he’ll probably do it again at Final Round next year.

And to the rest of ya, it was great meetin’ ya, see y’all at Final Round next year. (evil laughs)

@ that Soul Calibur player.

2D games get fucking shafted all the time at all the commercial/huge tournaments anyway, SB/FR/NEC/T/EVO etc are the only majors that actually get 2D love, so it’s not surprising non 2D games got shafted.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and support during the later stages of the ST tourney. Even though I try to keep stoic on the outside and don’t seem to respond to that stuff on the inside my mind is all over the place and I’m ready to just jump out of my chair and get pumped. LOL. But that might be bad sportsmanship, thus the whole stoic thing.

GG’s to everybody I played and met. Today (Monday) is my birthday so the ST tourney and just the weekend in general was an awesome b-day present of sorts. Also awesome to see that ST is in the midst of a 2nd wind or a revival much like 3S had/has.

3S is the same way, gg’s to everyone I played and met. I didn’t deserve to make it anywhere far but I got some decent matchups in the early stages of the tourney so that helped.

Eric Kim - did not know you were Ramza but I’m completely impressed with everything I saw from you in both games this weekend so wtg. We ended up playing in both games, we played in the 3S losers when I asked you to quickly take me out, I’m just not big on 3S. Haha. Then in ST of course we played, that’s more my style. My buddy Deadpool like like a big fan of yours now cuz he’s a Makoto player also and trying to get into ST. :wgrin:

Peter/Combo - hey gg’s man. I will go back to the lab and tweak one or two things so that I can face you in a Vega match again next time and fare a little better. I noticed we play all the same characters. Vega in ST and then Oro & Chun Li in 3S. What’s up with that?!?!

Big Keits - sorry I missed the WHP practice that morning. 3S went a bit late and then I forgot what room you had told me, three hundred-something. I will just have to practice a bit on my own through emulation I guess. Send me a PM and remind me again what is your girl’s screen name? I know we talked about ties but actually I’d be more interested in t-shirts (like Noogy Trap) if she still does stuff like that. I got a nice little idea for a shirt that I’m brain-scheming.

Fugee/Ghaleon - hey thanks for hosting again and of course I’ll do my best to attend the next SB4 tourney. Glad to see this has basically reached major status which was an original goal of yours when the first one came to pass. I was skeptic it could happen but now you could argue it’s happened or it’s right on the doorstep of happening.

— edit —

Ok earlier someone posted about an ST player that used Chun in 3S and got far and it was silly. I chuckled when I read that not even realizing that was me! I just realized it now when Ghaleon posted the results. It’s true, it was the benefit of some good luck honestly. Oh well I will take it.

Can someone please elaborate as to why the tournaments got started 4 hours late on saturday?

Oh and I brought a setup but I didn’t bring it to the venue because they said on this site that they had enough tvs and systems.
