Whats the word on a 3s team tournament?
Well, if you have to input Power Rankings, and region information, then it takes a little more than a few seconds to make the brackets…
Adam, even if 3s teams don’t happen officially, we can still do our little Dayton vs. Naptown crew on our own setup. Considering the size of the tourney I would be surprised if any team based side-tourneys happen.
Stop it. These things are OBVIOUSLY already input into Tournament Maker, as a bracket has already been generated. Adding the 5-20 walkins to the list in Tournament Maker and dragging any appropriate names into the right power seeding, then clicking ‘create bracket’ again would take literally 5 minutes.
Marn’s reasoning for generating a bracket already is fine (fugee said its capped at 128 anyway). Yours is off base and shows that you’ve never used tournament maker. It makes every extremely easy.
MM’s 3/5 for 30… I know I confirmed wif people earlier in the thread… If i have confirmed a mm wif u already I wanna do 3/5’s for 30… If not then Im willing to do 3/5 for 30 or ill play for shots!! holla at me!:looney:
Werddd Kevin is goin too?? good shitttt!!
Unfortuantly its a lot more than that. You also have to make sure people arent matched up against others from the same state. Also having it done before hand ensures that there wont be any complaints and we can go strait to the tournment.
Hav has run lots of tourneys and tournament maker was def used.
You not knowing that you have to think about more than just pressing one button and not having to modify anything shows that you dont know how to run a big tournament.
ill play u phocus for $30

**PreRegs: If you are not on this list or need revisions, you have 1 day to post them!
Once again, Name/Tag - City/State and Games so there is no confusion about whos who!**
Aliant Mason xTheHumanTyphoonx Chicago, IL - SC4
my watever VS ur ruby/jill/ken?:wgrin:
ok do it, phocus
Tournament. Maker. Does. All. This. For. You.
At the push of a fucking button.
Downloading. Play around with it. And stop posting like you know until you actually do.
You input people into the system by Name, Nickname, and Hometown. You drag and drop them into the list of a specific game. You go into the seeding tab of that game and you click ‘Seed by skill and location’. You drag and drop notable players from ‘Beginer’ into ‘Intermediete’ or ‘Pro’ windows. You press CREATE BRACKET, and its FUCKING DONE. Seriously. It is THAT easy. If you dont like the result, you press CREATE BRACKET AGAIN and you get a new one. If it puts people from the same region next to eachother, it is because you either have too many people from that region or you made a typo on their region name (IE, Bomchivo from Chicago, and Heartnana from Chicaho).
This argument is stupid.
Settle down Keits. You’re a tourney director, exercise some patience and restraint.
What if something like that does happen though? 2nd round I can see that being fine, but first round I hope that I dont play someone from IL that I have played many times before.
Just tossing that out there.
Tournymaker is a blessing for this tourny. Cant wait!!! SO SOON HYPE HYPE!
First of all, don’t tell me ?stop it?. I’m really not sure who the fuck you think you are. As far as I can tell, you’re some random guy that popped up, and tries to get everyone to run shit your way, as if you’ve actually done anything that would make you worth listening to.
Secondly, my entire point is that you need to prepare the bracket beforehand for these tournaments. Even if you want to use your little magical program, you still have to prepare the program before it’s any use (which is a whole other discussion… personally, I don’t think the program does any more than save a few minutes worth of writing), which is why you might as well just make brackets now. Your argument is just “let’s consider all important factors beforehand, but not create brackets because I wanna use my program!”.
If at least rudimentary brackets aren’t gonna be made, what’s the point of pre-reg deadlines?
EDIT- Also, this program takes away director control of real seeding, unless you want to manually seed the entire tournament… which completely defeats the purpose.
There are definitely down sides to the program, and the upsides aren’t that big of a deal.
In any event, the point is there’s no good reason to not have brackets made beforehand, and if there is, then there was no good reason to cut off registration.
Mistakes can happen. Human error. Thats why we are entering names into tournament make using your preregistrations before hand. (Thats how brackets exist at all already. those are all tournament maker generated). You can also sort the entries by location and look for typos, ahead of time or at tournament time.
My point is that, if you have any experience with this software, it makes little to no difference when you click ‘create bracket’. Again, capping the bracket is a suitable reason to go ahead and do it. Im not trying to get anyone to do anything any different way. Just trying to point out that tournament maker makes this a lot easier than a lot of you seem to think. I helped seed brackets regionally by hand last year at SB3. Thats where the mistakes in mass come from. Doing it on paper with hundreds of people yelling and asking questions and game noises and names being called over the mic.
Preregistration allows them to make profiles in tournament maker before hand, but that doesnt mean the ‘create bracket’ button needs to be pressed early or the day of.
I’m telling you to stop it because I really, really dont like it when people spread misinformation.
Edit - The point of pre-reg deadlines would be so that they can input this information into tournament maker, and check it over for accuracy. Getting brackets early and online can be a benifit of this process, so long as you dont get ‘unlucky’ and have too many walk ins. Of course, if your event is capped at a certain number of entries, too many walk ins wont change anything anyway.
I say, allow the tournament director to…direct the tournament…
No offense, Havok, but why so serious?
Digi: Are there any black characters in Soul Calibre 4? If not, we will have a frank discussion about it. Cool?
Well Zasalamel is black, and you can make black CAS characters, so yea…
I’ve used the program in the past; I don’t use it now because it doesn’t actually DO anything useful. It takes information you input, and spits it back to you. You could easily do that yourself, and not have to operate within the confines of the program.
Ever tried to float? I couldn’t be bothered to even figure out how, especially considering I could do it in 5 seconds on paper.
But anyway, I think it’s dumb to not create brackets, just so you can feel cool about using your program on the spot, and showing people how speedy it is.
As for “why so serious”? Well… Keits needs to watch how he adresses me. His feeling that he knows more than anyone, despite the fact that he hasn’t really done shit, doesn’t really fly with me. And if butting into others’ affairs is the issue, well… Keits is the last one that can cry about that…
That’s a running gag we had at MWC. He noted we were not widely represented in fighting games. He was especially disappointed in Arcana Heart, but rescinded his contempt for marvel when I mentioned Storm. Then, we figured Sentinel was black due to extensive research we did for all of 2 minutes. Just to keep the arguement going, I’ll say Zasalamel is a darkskinned Indian…
